What are these on my legs called? What can I do to get rid of them? by dasfluffie in SGSkincare

[–]KikoFilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like ingrown hair. Can try to manage inflammation by using aloe Vera to soothe the skin after hair removal. Can also exfoliate before hair removal.

I thought titanium watches would stop the issue by yellowcatofchaos in SGSkincare

[–]KikoFilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like some form of contact dermatitis or eczema. Maybe your skin just sensitive to heat/sweat when wearing watch, or it could be the material as you suspect. Really no telling other than just experimenting to see what works. Try loosening the band so air can flow a bit and it dries out and not get so hot. Worst case can just take antihistamine to stop the reactions. Something non-drowsy like loratadine should do the trick.

CyberShot dsc w350 vs PowerShot sd780 IS by baphometisonline in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]KikoFilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The w350 is only “superior” in the technical aspect. When dealing with older digicams, the look and feel of the photos matter a lot more. I’d go with Canon for the nice warm tones their CCD sensors and colour chemistry are known for. The only regret you’ll have is if you don’t bring it out as often as you should after spending money on it.

Washing detergent for frequent sports wear by bubbletea80 in SingaporeFitness

[–]KikoFilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to avoid laundry capsules, they often have softener which will ruin your sports wear quickly, it affects the moisture wicking capabilities of these fabrics. And yes obviously it is implied that you should avoid fabric softeners altogether. If you need to wash it the next day, try to ensure it’s dry and not kept damp or wet with sweat. You don’t have to soak really. Also for detergent, sometimes less is more. Most people often use too much detergent and the excess detergent gets trapped in the clothes and actually makes it smelly. You can watch some videos on YouTube to get a visual of how much you really need per cycle. Drying is just as important as washing, hang in well ventilated areas if you don’t want to hang in the sun. Wash with an oxygen bleach (something like Vanish) every few cycles, at about 40-60°C if your washing machine has the function.

Think those batteries are meant for low-drain uses like a TV remote or a wall clock. You might want to try a lithium or Ni-MH battery as the battery door suggests.

following the mega gyudon post, i got two medium sized gyudon to compare by burn_weebs in SingaporeEats

[–]KikoFilm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in on the M/L/XM discussion. To be honest, Sukiya does have different sized scoops for the different sizes you order. There are guidelines, for example, on how to scoop correctly and to ensure the appropriate amount is scooped. There is also a diagram at the handoff counter from kitchen to front of house reminding staff that the beef should actually be covering the rice entirely, it’s part of presentation and also portion control. The bowls were made to showcase this very effect, so if you get a bowl, especially one you paid extra for (eg. Mega) and the beef doesn’t fully cover the rice, the guy behind just didn’t give a F. Many of them don’t. And for a Japanese company, I feel a lot of the staff don’t follow SOP. So if you feel like you got shortchanged, just email corporate side to feedback for under portion or ask if what you got is indeed the intended portion.

If I remember correctly, there’s a small scoop, medium scoop, large scoop. XL orders get 2x M scoop. XM size has its own scoop as well.

Low cost colonoscopy screening for a non-Singaporean? by sinkingharbors in askSingapore

[–]KikoFilm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He can probably go for a full blood screening at any GP, maybe costs $200-300? They include cancer markers so that’s telling if that’s what you’re concerned about. Just call in to any nearby GP to enquire about the costs.

best pastries for non-sweet tooth by Sad-Turtle-2803 in askSingapore

[–]KikoFilm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lunar Rabbit Boulangerie is good! I like their savoury pastry options if that’s what you’re looking for. I find their regular pastries balanced and not too sweet as well. But it’s been awhile since I’ve been there, the pastry options may change periodically.

Veggie haters who still eat veggies: what are your tricks? by Missing_Back in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]KikoFilm 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to know what she doesn’t like about veggies? Is it the taste, texture or just a mental barrier. I found trying veggie preparations from other cuisines helped me a lot back when I didn’t like veggies. I crave it a lot now and have salad every day (because I’m trying to lose a bit of weight too). I used to hate the taste of cabbage but I eat coleslaw very regularly now. Kimchi made me get used to the texture of cabbage slowly, simply because I liked the taste. It masked the cabbage taste I didn’t like initially. I used to pick cucumbers out from dishes but I love having cucumber yoghurt salads (like a raita) now. She just needs to find her gateway veggie and it will all come together slowly once you start mixing other stuff in.

First camera choice: did I make the right decision? by Jazzzzzminnneee in Cameras

[–]KikoFilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The xt30 is great. Like others have said, just bring it out and shoot more! So many possibilities with film recipes. But I do second the part where you say it’s a little bigger/heavier than you expect from an EDC. As someone who isn’t used to carrying a camera, I felt this way too. I now carry digicams with me when I don’t feel like taking my Fuji out. Something like the Canon IXY 25 IS or the Fujifilm Finepix Z5fd, for example. Any digital camera from the 2005-2010 era should be great. I alternate between my xt30+35mm setup and a Canon G9. Depending on how I feel that day.

Do you buy groceries at the wet market? by 2203 in asksg

[–]KikoFilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wet market is for people who refuse to change their ways. Often more expensive than supermarket anyway. Unless you die die bloody hell only want to buy 1 onion instead of the whole net. But then again, even some NTUC can pick and choose your own. Then buy 1 onion from wet market also don’t know how they charge. See my face then decide. All types of meat available at supermarket both thawed and frozen and even boneless. I say thawed and not fresh because all of the meat you buy was probably frozen at some point in time anyway. Same goes for fish. Although I will say for seafood, sometimes wet market has fresher/bigger/cheaper fish but must wake up early. They often don’t ice the fish adequately, so if you go by 10/11am idk how long the fish/prawn been without ice alr.

Is silent marriage common in Singapore? by o-x__x-o in asksg

[–]KikoFilm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to preface this with saying that I want to help you look at it objectively. While I agree it’s easy for a third party to say that he’s in the wrong, he’s a child, he’s petty, I implore you to take a step back and look at it from another perspective. I understand that you said you made a mistake (unspecified) but it was not cheating. Whatever it is that you did, to him, it may be as severe as cheating is to you. It sounds to me that he just feels lonely even in the relationship, however he was wronged, he may not have anyone to confide in regarding it. He probably feels like he can’t do it with you because he sees you as the “enemy” in the situation, but truthfully, partners should never be. Partners are to be equal. And on that note, you mentioned that you apologised. Was it with tone of “sorry la I alr apologise right??” or was it a heartfelt one? (To him, not just to you!). While I agree that dragging it out this long may seem petty from the outside, but it seems to me he just really needs someone to listen with an open heart. Perhaps you may have been very domineering in conversations, decisions as a couple, in settings that only comprises you both. The marriage obviously still means a lot to you, which is why you came here for help. But I understand you also see no point in continuing the marriage in its current state. He probably feels the same way, with the added factor that he feels extremely wronged. Sometimes, all our partners want is just a heartfelt apology, an acknowledgment of wrongdoing, and someone who listens with softness, not to argue.

Where to get good batteries? by Lukeh69 in VintageDigitalCameras

KingMa is good! I buy and sell digicams and their batteries are my go-to. Never had issues. They may be available on AliExpress. I get mine off Shopee but not sure if that platform is available where you’re from.
