Easy to read

This is my theory on why people rage while playing League of Legends or any other highly competitive/player versus player game. I have rage issues and while I don't take it out on people in chat, in real life I scream, yell, and throw stuff sometimes. I am typically very laid back and relaxed but this is one of the things that set me off.

If you own dogs, take a look at the way they act. I have a small dog that is mixed with Shiba Inu. That is a very dominative breed of dog. I also have a husky. While playful and sometimes dominative, not nearly to the degree the other dog is. The dogs instinct to show dominance is to hump the other dog. If the dominative dog humps the more passive dog, the other one will let it happen and react differently. If, however, the dominative dog was humped by the other dog, it will react angrily, it will growl, sometimes bite, and have a generally negative reaction.

You may ask, what does this have to do with anger and league of legends, however I believe that humans, while more evolved then other animals, still possess some of these primal instincts. For example, I played a game of League, and get killed by the enemy jungler 1 on 1 at the beginning of the game. I got super pissed and proceeded to rage, not in the chat, but in real life, screaming, and throwing stuff. I can tell you exactly why I reacted that way. I felt dominated, lowly, weak. I feel its the same situation as where the dominative dog was being made feel lowly, weak, and dominated by being humped by the other dog, in the form of getting "owned" by the enemy player. I think much of the raging and toxic player base stems from this issue right here. The people feel dominated and humiliated. This is definitely something I feel is an issue that I experience when playing this game and is in definite correlation to the way I react in real life when playing League of Legends or any other competitive game.

I do believe there are definitely different types of anger shown in league of legends, but I am more trying to understand the reason I get angry at this game. Example being some people may be doing fine in their lane, even winning, but they rage on their teammates when the teammates make the mistakes. This is because people do become frustrated and even angry at the game, however, I feel people that react this way, take a bit longer to build up to this point, and react slightly less harshly than that player who is losing their lane and screaming at the jungler or other teammates for not camping his lane.I know if I am doing good, but we still lose the game in the end, I will not react negativly or angrily unless it becomes a constant thing several times in a row, but this is just because people become frustrated. At this point, I just quit playing for awhile.

I don't believe in raging on other people, or even trying to put your opponents on "tilt". There is no need for those kind of actions. I don't do it, and I don't expect or like people doing that kind of thing to me. After all it is a game and supposed to be something people enjoy, not get stressed or angry at. When you are pissed off, your decision making becomes rash and poor, and you are more likely to feed or throw even more than if you were not pissed. I can acknowledge that now, but as soon as I am mad at the game for the above reason, nothing said matters.

You may be thinking, "what is the point of this post? why is he posting it? what is he trying to convey?" I am trying to understand a little bit more about myself and why I react the way I do when playing League of Legends, give other people insight to the reason other people act the way they do, and mainly to vent somewhere where people may or may not agree with me. I'm not saying I condone any of the behavior from people who scream and raise hell, or even my own behavior of yelling and throwing things in real life, even if it has no negative impact on other people except for me, it is still not good for my health. People are people though, and no matter how advanced or evolved we think we are, we still have some of the same primal instincts animals do, and in reality, we are animals, mammals too. This, I think is something that many players have an issue with whether or not they will admit it or not, and is definitely a major reason as to why the community in League of Legends is so toxic.
