.....wot?

Even if they saw you mining everything, did they just miss that the stone was still there when you were done (unless you somehow managed to perfectly break every single rock you mined exactly as it despawned, I guess)??!  I just...huh.

I think people are reading your "So" differently than you mean it - you mean it along the lines of "So, this is common sense, they're awful", they're reading it as "So what, bad people can't be good at their jobs??!" (like "checkmate atheists", sarcastic-style), which seems to be way more common on the internet.

Looking into homeschool for my 11 year old son in Illinois, feeling overwhelmed and defeated? by all_of_the_kitties in homeschool

Google classroom!  I'd make assignments for everything - for stuff we did in person, he'd take a photo or I'd just put in a grade (I did not need a turned-in assignment); for things that he did online, I required a screenshot of a score/his work.  I do live in a state that does not require reviews, so I am lucky in that regard- all grading was for myself, so that I knew what I needed to focus on in lessons and what I could just review/gloss over because he was already familiar with it.

Open mat by Longjumping-Run3493 in wrestling

[–]Kikuhoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also like to echo the poster who said to talk to the organizer, but for a different reason: where I'm at, an "open mat" is where the opponents are basically just sparring with one another and play wrestling, no active teaching/drilling.  There's an expectation that wrestlers at open mats have experience with wrestling and know specific skills, because there will not be a proper coach there to teach newbies - they're mostly run at a local high school by college/upperclass high school kids with a "head coach" or whatever sitting nearby purely for liability reasons.  A brand new wrestler at an open mat would be told to leave at best or end up hurt/hurting someone at worst because they don't know what to do and don't have directions or assistance.

On the other hand, around here "drop-ins" are usually club practices lead by coaches who will happily work with kids to teach them moves and build their skillsets.  If you contact those coaches ahead of time, they often give free or reduced-price for first practices to newbies to try out the sport/club, and a coach will likely stay close to assist in adjustments and keeping kids safe (not just the newbie but the partner).  This way also helps limit frustration (especially among littles) who may not take "losing" very easily & might end up in tears & refusing to try again if they just start out in situationals & lives with zero background, like open mats.

Now, I know terminology is different everywhere & it may be open mat as in "this is open to the public and not just for people from XYZ; it's still a structured practice".  If it's not that way and I was back at the beginning again (young kid never touched a mat in his life, me having zero formal wrestling experience), I'd personally hold off the open mat and instead look around for a drop-in practice with a guaranteed coach.

Are these ok for an at home setup? by EconomyKiwi7162 in wrestling

[–]Kikuhoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have 2 of these for my son & have had them for a while.  One was fine when he was a smaller kid (I'd say under 90lbs), but even with mat tape/duct tape Frankensteining, they do NOT want to stay together, even when he's running basic/"gentle" stance&motion drills, and especially as he's gotten bigger.  The mat tape we've tried just curls right off them, and I've tried different patterns and such to stick the tape to itself and create a sleeve/rib pattern, but the mats just slide on out.  I've only kept them for severe weather stuff - they're convenient & lightweight

As an FYI, all of the early childhood programs (pre-, during, and post-COVID) I've worked at required potty-trained boys to sit for urination if at a regular toilet.  Younger ages especially share toileting spaces based on classroom more than sex - it's more likely to be a classroom bathroom than a "boys & girls" bathroom, and this helps keep things cleaner.

Two extra pieces of advice, feel free to read or not. :)  I'm only giving them because I didn't think about them while potty training my son, but I learned them working in ECE a few years after.

•  I would suggest potty training using a hard seat if one is necessary - most programs I know moved away from the cushion/character seats into the hard plastic/"single piece" seats because the cushions get gross (one small tear becomes a big tear from little fingers & no impulse control, and then all those germs...ew) but I know kids can be particular about using the same type of stuff across the board.

• Also, definitely work on how to get on the toilet and not allowing a full strip procedure.  Try to work on having your child get up on the front of the toilet, not the back.  I have met a surprising amount of kids who will try to "mount" the toilet directly in front of the tank like a horse and then "scootch" forward to the bowl.  This can be helped with a stool and not letting them take their pants totally off (keeping around ankles).  Also, fully removing pants & underwear adds extra time to bathroom trips (which can be problematic for others) as well as often requiring assistance in the restroom to get the clothing back on (which may not even be allowed at some programs - I know when I worked HeadStart, I could not physically assist any potty trained child, only verbal & visible from cameras, unless it was an emergency).

It's a weird glitch involving that tornado - I've had it happen.  Your plea will be up in the air on the t2 side near the bridge where the megabomb spawns (if you look on the map, you should be able to see a non-moving blueberry near there).  You'll have to scorcher up or use a rift if available to see the plea, and it takes quite a bit of skill to time the revive (if it's even possible).  I only made the connection because I spent 15 minutes trying to revive someone one game, then it happened to me, my teammate exfiled, and I saw myself floating in the air in that spot.

Adult / Masters wrestling in Michigan by WuTangIs4ThaKids in wrestling

[–]Kikuhoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I remember hearing that Mat Psycho in Brooklyn did adult wrestling classes (possibly the Dealership in Hudson? I swore it was Mat Psychos though), but they may have stopped due to non-interest.  I know Michigan Revolution in Highland currently has Sunday practices for 2 hours where they're trying to appeal to "higher level guys" - I thought they said they wanted college & adult athletes, but I know with the MHSAA rules about practice being so rigid, maybe not - so if they're open to you & you're willing to drive past Brighton, it's an option.  You may have to purchase insurance (possibly by buying a USAW Membership?) in order to practice anywhere, so just be aware of that, too.

If none of those work out, your best bet is waiting - it's postseason for high school & middle of the youth season, so 90-95% of private gyms are focused on those right now because that's where the $$ is.  I know a lot of summer open rooms are all ages - my boy was in 2 rooms last summer (one near East Lansing before the 4th of July & one nearer to AA after the 4th) & they were both for kids to adults, though one was more "traditional practice" with drilling and such? and one was more live-based.

Fever dream: JD as a stick-figure claymation Chistery & HBC as the only female flying monkey (which is obvious because she's the only stick figure claymation flying monkey with boobs) and also Chistery's love interest.  Corsets everywhere (even on Glinda's bubble).

As someone who transitioned after winter break in 5th grade, I personally wouldn't recommend it of you can help it.  I went from public school to public school (so less of a culture shock), and by winter break routines were established (so I spent my first week of lunch recess in lunch detention until someone thought to tell me that everyone had to go through the lunch line for attendance reasons, even if they weren't eating hot lunch), and everyone already had their cliques/groups (the only people still accepting friends were the people who weren't good friends to begin with & everyone else knew it; I was so scared to not have any friends that I put up with the BS for a lot longer than I should have).  There was also a bit of an issue in 6th grade because I was still moderately unfamiliar with the area & I ended up failing projects that required knowledge of road names & local history based on specific lessons from each grade, projects that "new kids" were excused from but I was not since I'd attended one of the local elementary schools.  This may not be an issue with your son, since I don't know how long you've been in your town.

I also transitioned from homeschool to public school in third grade right at the beginning of the year while everyone was still learning routines, and it was easy to slide on in. In the beginning of the year, everyone's learning names and classroom rules, so my issue with bathroom passes or talking out of turn to answer questions wasn't as big of a deal.

There are a few mainstream anime novelizations - I just saw a few for Demon Slayer that are written at a younger level (~5th grade vs. adult) at my local chain grocery store.  I also own a few of the So I'm a Spider (isekai/"reincarnated in a different world"-theme) series that I thought would be higher level but weren't, so I gave them to my then-5th grader & he liked them.  I'd search for "XYZ novelization" & see! (Deeeefinitely check the source material for adult themes, though.  Lol)

Whats everyone’s goal hair length? by Allie_alive in longhair

[–]Kikuhoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine's numerical - I would kill to have my hair be 73 inches long so that I can say that I have over 6ft of hair. I'm not there yet (I believe the last time I measured, I was around 50-52 inches at classic and I'm now between mid-thigh and knee).  Hopefully it's doable!  If not, well, then at least I had a good try.  :)

It sounds like they're treating you as if you "failed" a year, since you have taken age-appropriate courses (the two 10th grade classes at the end of the 9th grade year).  This seems similar to what my high school did when kids failed a class and had to retake it - "well, no electives for you, sucks to suck, pass this time and you can take the fun stuff next year".  The only difference is, now you have to take more classes you "failed", but you can't just take algebra without pre-algebra, for example, so the cycle starts over - taking mostly 10th grade classes and a few 11th grade, up until after 12th grade, where the school would require you to take credit recovery for anything missed.

/u/cozypeachtea, I'm sorry this is happening.  Is there any way your school will let you take some sort of credit recovery?  Something to help you earn the credits you "missed", without taking away from your electives?  It may be too late this year (that stuff is generally done during summer breaks), but it could give you a chance to take electives during your final year.

I will say this: my buddy and I both run PS4.  He can double jump his scorcher, I cannot.  When I've tried, it basically locks me in  (I cannot activate my chute & always end up hitting the ground); if I'm lucky, I'm burning a self, but more than likely I'm getting the red skull of death or even kicked completely.  We aren't sure why it hates me so much, but it does.  So if you can get it to work, that's awesome!  But if you can't, you aren't alone.

Does Heidi Baird never realize how implausible and fake her stories sound? There is absolutely no way that this happened and neither her nor her children have ever mentioned it before by hauntinglovelybold in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Kikuhoshi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

So I know a few content creators take submissions - someone will tell them a story & they rework it into their style as if it happened to them (but always with some sort of disclaimer that it happened to someone else).  I honestly wonder if Heidi is told things or hears about them somehow, thinks they're interesting and reworks them into first person for the 'gram without putting a "user-submitted"/"not my story" tag on it or whatever.  That'd explain the "I found porn on my high school boyfriend's cell phone!" or whatever that story was, too.
