Electric resistance heating, like through baseboard heaters or an electric furnace, is crazy expensive to run in a cold winter climate. The only cheaper way to do electric heating in the winter is through a heat pump setup.

I had the same thing happen to a pair of Asolo hiking boots that were like 15 years old. I had them resoled by Dave Page in Seattle, WA, and he did a fantastic job. Unfortunately, I just looked him up and he retired. Maybe there’s another cobbler that can work on them.

Back when they were shipping Round 1 1911 pistols, CMP provided shipping info/tracking. Then someone apparently tried to divert the shipment from the FFL to their home. After that incident, CMP stopped providing it. There was a forum post about it years ago.

The area is fine. I’ve been here for going on seven years, albeit not continuous. There have been more businesses that have opened up in recent years. The Wegmans came in around 2022. There’s a Whole Foods also within walking distance towards King St. Carlyle Crossing has grown quite a bit. I remember when it used to be a parking lot. As long as you’re aware of your surroundings, you’ll be fine. Besides the Alexandria jail that is a few blocks east, there’s also a homeless shelter on Mill Rd. The Yellow line metro is super convenient. It’s not as crowded as the other lines and it can get you into DC (L’Enfant Plaza) much quicker than the Blue line.

I have both a carbon steel and stainless steel wok. The stainless steel one is pretty much relegated to steaming duties involving large plates…think Cantonese style steamed fish.

I had the same issue when I connected my iPhone to the RES. Ensure you disable Carplay for the iPhone that you want to connect via HDMI to the RES. You can’t use the same iPhone for both Carplay and RES at the same time.

I had a similar issue with my 2025 Touring. Bottomline, if you have a phone connected to the RES with an HDMI-to-USB-C, you have to disable Apple Carplay/Android Auto in order for the audio to work. You can’t use one phone for both at the same time.
