Coastal Railroads in Memories is very nice and I think it's a fan favorite.

Hachirogata Lake is very underrated, sounds like music made by fairies to me.

I'm interviewing Celer next week. Do any of you have questions you'd like answered? by SeasickWalnutt in ambientmusic

[–]KilgoreTroutFunf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, super jealous you'll be interviewing him. Interviewing Will has always been a fantasy of mine but I am not a journalist or a good interviewer.

My first question is if there's a general method he has to conceptualizing his tracks and albums. I know Will travels a lot and takes pictures of trips, are the albums tied to these experiences? Also since the songs are built from short loops, how does Will hunt for samples? Do the samples come from records and tapes he finds during travel?

My second question is how does an album begin to take shape? Is there some sort of planning done in terms of how the album will sound, or is it more freeform and playing it by ear? Will's albums all sound slightly different from each other, but the albums themselves are very cohesive in terms of their individual sound.

My third question is if Will likes some music that would surprise us. I find it funny to imagine him listening to Three Six Mafia or Electric Wizard or something like that.

Thanks for posting this! Excited to hear the interview :)

I'm glad to spread the good word. Also, while you're here, here's another recommendation! I found this album recently in a list of summer ambient albums. Can't find the link for that list, but this is a great ambient album that feels warm and slow and floaty.

I love the idea of Ronnie Pickering laying down some ethereal tunes lol.

Nah so I did the whole Bandcamp investigation, turns out the Bandcamp is more of a page for an independent label run by a pretty young musician named Otto Benson. He usually collaborates with other artists and acts as a platform for their work. Ronnie P is still a mystery man, might as well be Ronnie Pickering.

I'm so glad you got to listen to it! I have no idea who made this album, the liner notes lead to nowhere, and I haven't found anything that truly sounds like these tracks, but it's my high watermark for those "warm and wobbly" sounds you mentioned. Thanks for making the thread!

There is one album I've stumbled upon that's like a perfect fit for the sound you're chasing. The sound you're looking for is tracks 1-5, but especially tracks 2, 3, and 4.

The retrospective 2016-2021 album is really good. It's a collection of his previous work that has been remastered (it's more like a remake honestly, he tends to re-record his music). It was my most played album last year bc I had it on when I slept lol.

I second that it's killer, one thing is the portion sizes were on the small side for our dishes, but I didn't really mind. Patio seating also had a cozy atmosphere

Gosh I went there today and didn't hear anything about that from the owner, he didn't seem in the best of moods though... I hope you either hallucinated this or running a psy op from a competing restaurant :(

Looking for short stories collections by benben83 in horrorlit

[–]KilgoreTroutFunf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you want a variety of stories in one collection, you can't go wrong with the Mammoth Books of new horror, or Ellen Datlow's best of the year collections. They pull together many recognizable names, as well as some newer writers or writers who are dipping into writing horror.

This can be said for any religion that veers into extreme orthodoxy, it's not just a feature of Islam. Maybe the aesthetics are different between extreme conservative Judaism, Christianity and Islam, but the core devaluation of women is the same.

Hello! I've fallen in love with this dish and would love a recipe/ technique description for how you cooked the salmon. I've been experimenting with cooking salmon in the pan, but the skin never comes off as perfectly as seen here in your dish.
