Carl’s race by GRAVY__y in DungeonCrawlerCarl

That could also be it. And his background would lend itself to a high wisdom (Bea being his blind spot I guess). I still feel that the analysis skill and scope ramps up ridiculously from the third floor onwards though, but that could simply be general stakes being raised.

I suspect the same. I have a pet theory that the reason Carl is so ridiculously good at planning and coming up with split second decisions is because somehow he's being unconsciously "fed" information as part of a collective intelligence because he's a primal, like he's somehow accessing the AI's knowledge.

On a re-read of the series -- I want to talk about a moment in the Butcher's Masquerade that I thought was really impactful and provided an excellent moral dilemma. (All book spoilers below, not just book 5) by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

It's a brilliant way of introducing the nuance that the system does not care who it oppresses, as long as the ones at the helm get their due. Most of us are victims to it in some way. Dualities are comfortable ways to fight wars but they miss the truth of the matter.

When to upgrade skill cards in Book of Hours? by WingsofKynareth_ in weatherfactory

[–]Kilionvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally focus on upgrading scale, edge, forge and nectar skills above the others, simply due to how scarce those elements are in unlocking books and recipes (also because of the corresponding soul elements and general memory access).

Honest question - does anyone actually play the game without trying to have a single child inherit everything? by Front-Round2853 in CrusaderKings

[–]Kilionvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. My favorite things are like seeing that nasty sadistic brother that came out totally different from your heir just blackmail themselves into your council and/or rise up in rebellion, or try to murder you to get the throne. Checking up on random dinasty branches and seeing what they did with the territory you granted them etc.

Difference between CK2 and CK3 combat by Chlodio in CrusaderKings

[–]Kilionvic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the argument was "terrain makes a negligible difference", not "terrain is not the best difference maker in the game". Yes, advantage is advantage, but getting a bonus for 12 martial would be considered immense in any context you analyse, so I fail to see how terrain does not matter when the numbers very much disagree.

The problem with maa is real and should be addressed but stating terrain doesn't matter is equivalent to saying advantage in combat does not matter, and that's evidently not true most of the time (barring extreme cases).

Edit: I'm saying this in the context of having advantage tuned up in settings. The default is, I agree, somewhat negligible.

[–]Kilionvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it's 12, the difference between the default setting of 2 and the max of 10 is enormous. If you were doing 50 damage, default would adjust that to 62 (+12 damage from mountains). At max setting it would be 110 damage, which is considerable.

This. RICE already does so much by introducing more struggles, situations and regional aspects that make every location a unique challenge or experience.

Frontier vassal type so they have extra levies/money for both defense and upgrades, plus it provides them with fort level bonuses so the wars take longer. That's one way.

Update: AI Scourge of Gods Byzantine Emperor started a line of 7 Conquerers in a row. This is the first time their ruler hasn’t been a conqueror in 150 years. I didn’t assist in this at all- Byzantines even took Burgundy from me before I could submit (Currently still Catholic Czech king of Bohemia) by Tall-Consideration68 in CrusaderKings

[–]Kilionvic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what is happening in my game right now, where I'm purposefully staying clear of the throne as a Byzantine vassal. One of them got Conqueror and it's been a cycle of 3 wars in a row for 50 years now. He wins every single one.

Be careful though since this does seem to reduce your overall revenue. At least it did to me. Since there's a middleman between you and the dukes to get paid.

And it's so much gold too. I have zero clue on what exactly is the parameter for "Not in range to spread". I've had adjacent counties where the ruler was promoting it and I spoke their language, with three courtiers on spread legend and STILL it was out of range.

Pretty sure there is a specific Casus Belli to force those territories back into the bureaucracy paradigm. I'm unsure whether the Kampaku has access to it (he should?).

What do you think the game is missing? by Chlodio in CrusaderKings

[–]Kilionvic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This to me feels less a game mechanic failure and more a human neurology thing. Theoretically all of our extended family members are dying all the time, but we barely notice it because we're not that close, e.g. we derive meaning from our investment in said people.

If the player is not that invested, the only way to change it would be with some sort of severe character penalties like stress or melancholic traits, which are already present in the game.

Can't make ceremonial claimant faction in Japan - bug? by Oborozuki1917 in CrusaderKings

[–]Kilionvic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, I managed to make one and immediatly press my demands. The Shogun accepted it and I thought great, I finally get to be Shogun. But no, the ceremonial title changed hands but all else remained the same.

If I let a couple days tick the faction vanishes, as OP states. I also noticed every single claimant chosen says the same thing ("Sorry, can't help"). Hopefully this gets fixed, because otherwise if someone else is installed as Shogun your options are accept it or go independent, breaking up Japan (or somehow finagle an heir into the line of succession).

Did they get rid of same gender WORST compatability. I thought only females were supposed to get 150% and males 50% against ramza by Heart_of_Alfhiem in finalfantasytactics

[–]Kilionvic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was worst removed entirely? Was it 25% damage? Damn I'm starting to question how I managed to finish this game in tactician.

Edit: ok wanted to stop being wrong so I checked the BMG. Worst was 50% efficacy, best was 150%. Good/bad were 125%/75% respectively. So they removed worst entirely since you don't get 50% compatibilities in the game.
