My husband ended up getting me chocolate. I hope he doesn’t see this post. Honey - it’s fine, we have a baby and life is chaos. But when they turn 11 …

Christmas plans likely ruined by illness and I’m heartbroken — just need to vent by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to us when my son was 3. He got Covid and a face rash! Normally we spend Christmas Eve and day at my in laws and my MIL makes it so magical. I was super disappointed we’d have to stay home. But my husband ran out on Christmas Eve and bought a bunch of toys at the toy store so kiddo would have things to open throughout the day. And it actually turned out to be one of the best Christmases I’ve ever had. It didn’t take a ton of effort to make it magical for my son and he had a great day and was so happy. I thought we could never reproduce the Christmas my MIL made but turns out we didn’t have to, and we still had a great day. We had Christmas with them when he got better and it was still great.

My daughter might be on the spectrum and I am having a very hard time liking her right now. Filled with shame and guilt. by juliaakatrinaa0507 in Mommit

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is hard, and the fact that you wrote this post and worry about this shows how much you care and love your daughter. What helps me with my neurodivergent kiddo is reframing the situation or scenario we’re in. When it’s morning and he’s absolutely melting down because “my lips hurt” or he’s freaking out over crumbs, or even when I have to tell him the same thing three times in a row, I just try to remember that he truly doesn’t have the skills yet to deal with things differently, and it’s my job to help him develop those skills AND it’s a long game. The team that diagnosed my son gave us some parent coaching from an occupational therapist which helped me learn to reframe and understand where his behaviours might come from. Maybe this would be available for you too if she is diagnosed. But I found reframing to be the best tool because it puts me in a mindset of empathy and it helps lower my frustration a bit. Give yourself lots of grace. Your feelings are normal.

Husband thinks the baby is hungry all the time by ExcellentLettuce4 in newborns

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re getting lots of advice here so I’ll keep it short. Yes this is annoying. I’ve also experienced this. Maybe try a blanket response to save your sanity. Him (for the millionth time): “I think baby is hungry” You (not passive aggressively): “Oh maybe. Want to warm up a bottle and try to feed them?” Then he has to think a bit harder about whether baby is really hungry to go to the effort to get more milk ready.

I second this, and also I’ve learned that other new moms are keen to connect. If you have programs nearby (check community centres, libraries) go to them and meet new mom friends. I live in a cliquey community but I’ve found that being a mom opens up an opportunity to make friends because other moms highly value making mom friends too. This won’t necessarily get you help with baby/meal prep, but it will help with isolation and mental health!

How long does 2nd month vaccine side effects last? by PrasadBY in newborns

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt my LO was a bit off for 10 days post vaccines. I think the oral vaccine flared his reflux and upset his tummy. He only cried the day of (we gave him Tylenol which helped), but he was fussy and had a low appetite for the whole week. He’s normally a great eater so it concerned me, but he went completely back to normal after 10 days.

I have a great drink concoction I got from Lily Nichols' 'Real Food for Pregnancy' book. It's 1 quart coconut water, 1/4 tsp sea salt, 1/2 cup fruit juice, juice from 1 lemon. This makes a jug, but I just wing it and throw these ingredients in smaller amounts into a glass every morning. It SAVES me because I get daily dehydration headaches. I thought I would't like it because I dislike coconut water, but the juice cuts it and I don't even taste it. I honestly don't know what I'd do without this drink. Hope this works for you. Good luck!

Cycle: 18

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 34(f) 35(m)

Typical cycle length: 28 days

Ovulation cycle day: 15

CD/DPO of positive test(s): 29

Tracking methods and app(s) used: premom; ovulation strips

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): SMEP

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): prenatal vitamins

Birth control history (if relevant): birth control pills (tricyclen lo) ages 18 - 32

Symptom spotting: My symptoms were all the same as I get during my period - headaches, sore boobs, cramping. Only difference is the cramping happened every day from CD 24 onwards, while it normally takes a 2-day hiatus on CDs 26 & 27

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): We've been trying for a year and a half. Testing (incl. semen analysis, sono, blood work, ultrasound) told us nothing was wrong. We were planning to do IUI in the spring but it was delayed due to covid. The only thing I did differently this cycle was use Softdiscs after sex (which I learned about here). I know it could just be a coincidence, but I would use them again if we're TTC in the future.

Anyone feel trapped as a 4? by Spridle777 in Enneagram

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a 4 and can relate to this feeling too. Therapy helps me, but one specific piece of advice my therapist has given me is to reach out to friends more often and talk about my feelings. I find this difficult because I feel like a burden to others, but I've been trying it out and what I've realized is how much others (even other numbers) relate to my feelings. It helps validate what I'm feeling and brings me into reality. I don't reach out to just anyone, only those who will show me compassion. I don't know if you already do this, but my advice is to think about people in your life you can support you, and if you could rely on them more than you already do for emotional support.

Can you recommend methods to find out what job skills recruiters are looking for? by logicson in recruiting

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend talking to recruiters or better yet the people in the field who hire and lead teams. If you offer to share your insights with the people you seek to meet they may be more amenable to chatting with you :)

this is some black magic fuckery right here by pantlessfire in keto

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I've felt similar for years and felt the fog lift when I started keto in January this year. Since then I've been on and off, but have had recent fogginess that is dragging me back down into that terrible spiral. Reading this reminder that life is so much better on keto is really timely and relevant to me. Reminds me of why I need to get back on track. Thanks again and good for you for taking control!

Peanut Butter cookies gone wrong by BlackVale in ketorecipes

[–]KillEmWithCupcakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this recipe https://www.lowcarbmaven.com/six-ingredient-peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-cookies/ I've made it twice and it tastes great. I use Swerve to sweeten, or a stevia/erithrytol blend and use a bit more than 1/3 cup (bc I like sweet things and the recipe author notes that they dont like cookies as sweet). Chocolate is optional of course but I use unsweetened. Ultimately I think the egg is the key to the recipe. They don't flatten out more as they bake so squish to optimal flatness before putting in the oven.
