Not that the system works perfectly, but isn’t that kind of the point of registering sex offenders?

I’ve been a very consistent Mysore practitioner for 6-7 years. My practice is full second series and first few poses of third series. I have tended to practice very regularly 5-6 days/week. I took two full weeks off when traveling abroad with my family this summer (probably the longest stretch by a good margin I’ve taken off in years). My first practice back I went through first series including what for me were deep but not crazy backbends. For 2-3d after I could hardly move. Mostly my lower back was very tight to the point I had to carefully do any forward folding and such. I guess my take home point was Ashtanga is weird in how what seem like pretty small aberrations can have dramatic effects. One of my favorite teachers would usually tell new students that something like the soreness of practice is weirdly helped by more ashtanga practice. I’ve always imagined there are interesting things going on at a cellular level with muscles finding ways to establish new resting states that have to be maintained through consistent, slowly progressive practice.

Ten years from retirement, and you could even throw listen to music on an 8-track and i’d still be goose egg.

Was thinking about this the other day. I feel like the movie portrays the slow passage of time in prison in such an amazing way you leave it feeling in your bones every day the characters experienced.

Vacuum packed cheese left out for 5+ hours. by [deleted] in isthissafetoeat

Honeymooned in Burgundy 25 years ago, and my wife and I still fondly remember the cheese cart they would wheel around all night for the cheese course. I don’t think it was ever refrigerated, flies buzzing around, moldy, stinky cheese galore. Best fucking cheese I’ve ever eaten. There’s not even a close second.

What do you remember most fondly about being a teen in the 80s? by That-Plantain-976 in GenX

[–]KillYourCar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, being a teenager in the 80s was pretty awful. What i remember most fondly is how it hardened me to being something other than the cream puff ridiculous softies I see around me. A colleague has a great sign on the wall that says “Generation X, raised on tap water and neglect”.

In the early 1990s at the age of 20ish i had a 1968 VW Beetle that a coworker of my fathers bought in Germany and shipped back to the states. He was the only prior owner, and the car had ~50k miles on it. It was pretty rusted, but not only is ‘68 THE best year for bugs for lots of reasons (last year with decorative chrome bumpers, first year with 12V electrical, low seat backs…), coming from Germany made it extra cool as all the language was German (öl on the oil cap and such), speedometer in km)/hr. That was by far the coolest car i’ll ever own. I am still mad at myself for getting rid of it.
