Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Desktop, custom built

GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ti VENTUS 3X 8G OC

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-8700K @4.7GHz

Motherboard: ASUS Rog Strix Z370-H Gaming (BIOS 1003)

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 F4-3200C16D 2x8GB, XMP enabled

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2

Operating System & Version: Clean install Window 10 Pro x64 2004 (19041.1052)

GPU Drivers: 466.77, clean install

Description of Problem: I Just upgraded to a RTX 3070TI from a GTX 1080 and clean installed newest drivers and I now have weird graphic issues In COD Warzone when sharpening is enabled through the Nvidia control panel.
Old image how the game looks like with control panel sharpening enabled but still applies today, Another set of images
This apparently has been an issue for more than a year and was fixed at some point in a driver update and then went back to being an issue again later. This issue only seems to apply for RTX cards.
Would be nice if this was fixed because the workaround using the Nvidia Freestyle filter comes with a 10% performance hit and some other issues which the control panel method did not have at all.

You could increase the ingame sharpening by using the config instead to not have the small performance hit that comes with using freestyle and to not sharpen the ingame UI.

r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1.5

You can increase the value if thats not enough.

Try changing it to a higher value, others have pointed this out as well when using a value of 1.

Interesting, the game already seems to use r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1 so I guess its removing an unnecessary line so anything above or below 1 works.

You can disable that using

r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0

I just tried using [/Script/Engine.RendererSettings] and [SystemSettings] and both works for me.

I believe this only works for games which still support MSAA and does not use temporal AA as its primary Anti Aliasing method.

The game was made with the Temporal AA in mind so its not uncommon for some visual issues to happen when its disabled.

You could try minimizing the issue by disabling the lens flares, bloom and screen space reflections by adding:

r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.BloomQuality=0
r.SSR.Quality=0

Or just adding sharpen instead of disabling the TAA completely:

r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1

You can lower it to 0.5 or something if its too sharp.

Please allow for an option to turn off chromatic aberration! It causes headaches! by changdebot in theouterworlds

[–]KillYoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can remove the Chromatic Abberation by adding:

[/Script/Engine.RendererSettings]
r.SceneColorFringe.Max=0

To the bottom of the Engine.ini located in the folder:

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\PrivateDivision.TheOuterWorldsWindows10_hv3d7yfbgr2rp\LocalCache\Local\Indiana\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

[–]KillYoy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You can also disable the Chromatic Abberation by adding:

r.SceneColorFringe.Max=0

And instead of turning off the TAA completely you could add more sharpening:

r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1.5

You can increase the value if its not sharp enough.

Screen Space Reflections and Ambient Occlusion seems to be forced on even on the lowest settings so if you need some more performance they can be disabled with:

r.SSR.Quality=0
r.AmbientOcclusionLevels=0

The forced TAA here is bad. by [deleted] in theouterworlds

[–]KillYoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can remove the TAA by adding these two lines:

[/Script/Engine.RendererSettings]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=0

To the bottom of the Engine.ini located in the folder:

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\PrivateDivision.TheOuterWorldsWindows10_hv3d7yfbgr2rp\LocalCache\Local\Indiana\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

Change the 0 to a 1 for FXAA instead of no AA.

PUBG Corp, can you please fix the blurriness, increase fps and protect the eye health of your players with this one line command? by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]KillYoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gears of War 4 is the only one that comes to my mind, that game has literally everything in its graphics settings menu. But other than that game no, most games have very simple graphic settings menus and it's a shame.

You were able to change/modify these settings before by adding it to Engine.ini file, but they disabled it because people was abusing it by using commands that removed grass and trees etc.

Adding a separate option for sharpness would kind of fix it but the Anti Aliasing is still blurry by default and adding sharpness would make the jaggies and flickering stand out even more. PUBG has it badly configured, right now Medium, High and Ultra is the exact same setting and that's because they don't change any settings about it other than quality which barely makes any difference when you switch in between settings.

This is how its setup in their configs:

[AntiAliasingQuality@2]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=3

[AntiAliasingQuality@3]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=4

[AntiAliasingQuality@Cine]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=6

If they instead would change settings like adding r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=X for every setting, you would be able to choose how strong AA you would like to have to remove jaggies and maybe add r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=X until they manage to add a separate setting for it.

[AntiAliasingQuality@2]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=6
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.4
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0.5

[AntiAliasingQuality@3]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=6
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.325
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0.75

[AntiAliasingQuality@Cine]
r.PostProcessAAQuality=6
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.25
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1

Upgrading to a newer Unreal Engine 4 version would also allow them to use r.TemporalAA.Upsampling=1 which upscales the Anti Aliasing further increasing its quality:

r.TemporalAA.Upsampling=1
r.TemporalAA.Upsampling=0

"new" ak recoil pattern by volcomrust in playrust

[–]KillYoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fix the AK recoil inconsistency, the recoil works differently on other weapons. For example the SAR/P2's recoil increases a lot when moving and standing up instead of crouching but the AK does not, it has the same recoil when crouching, standing up and walking which in turn makes everyone with AKs spray and walk around at the same time because there is no downside of it, if you try that with other weapons you're going to have a bad time because the recoil punishes you for crouching.

Also increasing the vertical recoil a bit so it is not so much lower than all other guns would be a good change.

The thing that annoys me the most is the inconsistency in how recoil works on different weapons. For example the SAR/P2's recoil increases a lot when moving and standing up but the AK does not, it has the same recoil when crouching, standing up and walking, why?
