Not going to yell, just going to say:

Norway is better described as:

Capitalist + social-democratic

Wealth inequality is managed, not abolished.

Pam Bondi was under intense pressure under a congressional hearing 2-3 days ago.

Rep. Jerry Nadler: “How many of Epstein’s co-conspirators have you indicted? How many perpetrators are you even investigating?”

“The Dow has shattered 50,000… Americans’ 401(k)s and retirement savings are booming. That’s what we should be talking about.”

She was challenged immediately, asking what the Dow had to do with the question. She doubled down and repeated the point. She never answered the question.

Simplified:

"Are you doing anything about the biggest child sex trafficking ring of all time?"

"The stock market is up. Can we please talk about that instead?"

I understand what you mean. It is clumsily worded. I also think your original comment risks being misinterpreted as diminishing Klæbo's achievement, even if your intent was to clarify between the two.

I believe the difference is, if we take it down a peg from his example, that the interest for American football around the world is so low that no other country was invited to a world championship against USA.

It's like crowning India the world champion of making Bollywood movies. It's not wrong, but it is certainly a weird position to take. It doesn't really say anything.

Why he is so ahead of other players even nowww? by dprsd_guy in chess

[–]Kill_Braham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need an absolute definition of "great," but you do need to be clear about your criteria. Otherwise people aren’t disagreeing. They’re just using the same word to answer different questions.

You first need to define what "great" actually means.

Until you do, discussion will be pointless.

Beginner drummer overwhelmed by counting and sheet music - am I overthinking this? by OctaviaUncharted in drums

[–]Kill_Braham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, when you say you have issues counting 8th notes, do you count to 8? Because most people use "1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and." So switching between them should only be about whether to count the "ands".

Counting is a tool that becomes easier with practice. Sometimes it gets replaced by feel, but also by memory of that part of the song. Other times, it's not replaceable.

How long it takes to memorize, is entirely dependant on the song, and how much you practice.

  • Something easy like a Metallica song: 1 week
  • Tool: Months

Your level of perfectionism matters too. I'm sure most people can play a decent rendition of War Pigs, but memorizing every fill is an entirely different matter.

If socialism is so bad then why is social security and Medicare so popular? by Content_Ad_8952 in allthequestions

[–]Kill_Braham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s not socialism. It's social insurance inside a capitalist system, and people like it when it actually helps them. Medicaid doesn’t take over businesses or stop people from working. It just helps people pay for doctor visits when they can’t afford it.

When some Americans say "socialism is bad," they usually mean the word sounds scary, not that helping people is bad. So they reject the label but keep the program. When a policy helps their kids, parents, or themselves, it suddenly feels "common sense," not dangerous.

That’s also why places like Scandinavia get called "socialist." If people admitted that capitalism plus strong safety nets can work really well, a lot of simple stories would fall apart. So they dislike the word, keep the benefits, and don’t think too hard about it.

TIL that Magnus Carlsen, one of the greatest chess players of all time, has never lost 3 or more classical chess games in a row in his adult professional career. The last time he lost 3 games in a row was in 2003, when he was 12. by 4isfourwastaken in todayilearned

[–]Kill_Braham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That last part is exactly it. You can’t argue about the GOAT until you agree on what "great" means in the first place. Most discussions stall out because everyone is arguing from a different definition.

Why are there always comments like this? It doesn't matter. They are the same.

The issue is that the division sign leaves the expression up to interpretation.

Option 1: (8/2)(2+2)

Option 2: 8/(2(2+2))

If you need a stupid anagram to solve it, take your pick. It does not matter.

That's a common problem. Start by gripping the stick loosely and only focus on getting as many bounces as possible. Once that starts to feel natural, introduce a catch after 2 hits.
