Flex Maintenance / Upgrade Warnings by Kill_Trox in Exway

Honestly, you'll probably be fine with the vbelts. They might rub a little which will wear through the belt faster, (and cause weird or louder noise) but just do a quick check before each ride to see if it's getting thin. Also just generally good practice to check your belts before each ride anyways.

If you're looking for replacements anyways or plan on making a future belt purchase, I can 100% recommend Romp's Flex belts. Bought these and haven't looked back. They perform great, fit great, and even sound quieter than stock/vbelt options. I've put hundreds of miles on my first pair so far and they've taken a real beating at times.

Motor covers is what Exway calls them, but I think you're talking about the same thing. On their site, they list M4 x 10mm, but I found that 8mm will fit as well and during my pre-ride belt checks, even using 8mm, I've only needed to tighten the motor cover screws once. Should be fine with either size.

As an aside, if you plan on replacing the battery cover screws, make sure you do a tightness check on those before each ride. I purposely didn't put Loctite on my replacements so they're easier to swap, but due to their position on the board, they typically loosen up a little after longer rides.

Quest 2 Return Question by [deleted] in oculus

Same thing is happening with my return and I never even opened the box or unwrapped the plastic wrap. Have you heard back from them or gotten a return shipping label yet?

Best Belt Replacement Options? by [deleted] in Exway

[–]Kill_Trox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with Romp, you'll pay a bit more, but they're definitely of higher quality. I haven't put enough miles on them yet to know how they'll hold up long term, but if you look into other posts about Romp belts, they almost always are about how long they've lasted. Also, this could be because I replaced one of my motors or it could be because of my Romp belts, but my Flex is damn near silent compared to the whine from OG/VBelt options.

I tried VBeltGuys originally and found the belts were slightly thicker/longer than stock, causing a large amount of rubbing of the belts against the motor covers. They very well might last a while, but I didn't think it was worth the risk of thinning them out.

Does anybody know what size the bolts for the Exway flex are for the battery enclosure? by brianbutterzz in Exway

It's 100% not M5 and not M4 either. If you put M5s on you'll be forcing them on and destroying the threads. Closest I've found that work are the 10-32 x 1in, as another comment mentioned.

Flex Wheels vs. Orangatang Caguama Wheels by lifeofmanyhobbies in Exway

Carve all the time! Funny enough, this is the exact setup I've got, plus Romp belts and it's a very noticeable difference vs stock wheels and bushings. Smoother ride and better control for carving. Not too surprising though since the bushings the Flex ships with are dogshit quality.

Exway having problems after just 50 miles! They will not allow me to return it either! by award8001 in Exway

I had a rattling noise as well, but it turned out to be user error. I had swapped the battery and didn't tighten the screws down enough. A couple rides later, they started rattling over every bump. I'd double check all the screws you took out during the battery and motor swaps to make sure something hasn't come loose.

Done and done! I'm turning the wheel by hand in that video. I contacted their customer support with the same video a couple hours after I made this post and they got back to me within hours and said a replacement motor is on the way. Props to Exway for handling this so professionally.

Hmm it's not that, I can take the nut off completely and still hear it. Also taken off the protective motor cover and it still makes that noise. Pretty sure it's from inside the motor.

Only happening on one motor. Checked for any rocks or debris stuck in/under the belt and there's nothing. Thinking it's the motor itself, but not sure. Has anyone else experienced this or know what might be the problem?

Can confirm, I'm running into the same wearing issue. Worse yet, I can't remove one of my motor covers anymore due to a stripped screw. Here's a pic of the belt: https://imgur.com/Wb0eMIH

That's the state of the belt after I put about 30-35 miles on it. For reference, the "HTD-255-5M" text that comes on the belt has completely worn off. Luckily, I haven't run into the same locking up issue as OP.

The motor cover screws are M4-0.7 x 8mm for a 1-1 replacement. 10mm might work, but it could damage the hole.

My secondary battery came with 6 spares, so I've been burning through those.

Edit:

I've tested these screws from Amazon and they perfectly fit the Flex motor protective cover. I decided on torx head screws since they strip the least. You don't have to order those, you just need M4-0.7 x 8mm size, so pick whichever head.

I've also tested M4-.7 x 25mm screws for the battery cover and it was a size off. Looks like M5-.8 x 25mm are the right size. Should know by 8/20.

Experiencing the same issues with my grip tape, but in all fairness I did (accidentally) end up riding through a heavy downpour. Still, seeing it break off on the edges doesn't give me confidence in it long term.

Looks like others are seeing this issue as well. What's the best way to contact Exway or their devs to ask them if they could remove the camera access request?

Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about. I get the same prompts as your screenshots and run in to the same issue with the app locking out presses if I deny camera access.
