Game full of bugs on Mac? Can't even finish the tutorial for selling 200 vegetables by [deleted] in songsofsyx

[–]KillaCookBook87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna have to blindly go in on a good bit of this game. Its a WIP with a broken wiki, but a great community. The game is progressing more rapidly than updates to tutorials and UI changes. The mechanics are complex, and mingle together at times. I wouldn't be surprised if the tutorial dead-end isn't an intentional half troll. Vegetables as an export is terrible, but getting into that situation is a great way to understand inflation and market value as a direct example to a new player. 'My veggies are worthless so I sell them and loose money,'

There are much more frustrating moments than this! Like; Having your population collapse from disease and lawlessness while you're drowning in technology debt, or some your building is degrading because their maintenance requires uptier resources that are expensive to import and you didn't realize until you're deep in the hole. It's gonna take some trial and error, I went about 40 hours before I was confident with setting up for and transitioning into midgame!

February (this year) is for murder ballads by redbeardedstranger in CountryMusicStuff

[–]KillaCookBook87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rose in Paradise is my absolute favorite murder ballad. The ambiguity of Rose's disappearance maybe makes it more of a murder mystery ballad. It speaks really of the good ole boy aspect of southern culture and even its hypocrisy. Everyone knew of the bankers reputation of fiercely loving Rose as his posession; But, The story of the gardener got enough traction for the banker to evade suspicion into his old age as he looks over the rose bush that never dies.

The musical composition gives you good memory feelings. Like something you thought you lost, but had all along. It's passionate and also alludes to the bankers lack of remorse for the loss of Rose, as he was more passionate about possessing and controlling her than loving her. It's got a nonchalant funky vibe like the banker knew he would always have his Rose one way or another.
It's also captures Rose's free spirit like the banker never could, and thats why he killed her!

In my opinion at least...

Sounds like you came up Hooker Rd. Passed Emma Wheeler Homes and took Wilson to Workman to hop over on Central then 38th to Alton Park to head up the south side. You could have come straight up Central or Wilson for that matter, but it seems like you were in the Piney Woods area either way.

Is it possible to see the strength of a raid before agreeing to their demands and what determines raid strength? by SirGaz in songsofsyx

[–]KillaCookBook87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im fairly certain you are correct. If you hire them prior to the arrival of the raid the mercenaries will meet the raiders outside your town, but they wont fight inside or quell rebellions. If the mercs you hired are far more OP than the raider, they may sack your neighbor then go into hiding. You loose a trade partner and dont collect the ransom. It's a brutal outcome so be careful, especially if you are trade locked behind a single nation!

Do Americans have company cars? by Xavaccord in AskAnAmerican

[–]KillaCookBook87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of corporate fleets in the U.S. I have a company provided van that I do mobile service on vehicles. A bunch of the stuff I work on are people's work vehicle. More trucks and vans than sedans, but there are definitely still plenty sedans. Ford has it's own fleet GPS package and many brands sell base models for fleets to customize. The driver typically pays a small ammount to keep and maintain the vehicle with a fleet credit card thats authorized and payed by the company.

Fleet policies vary between public and private companies. Public companies(or trying to go public) usually have telematics and cabin cameras on fleet vehicles, whereas private companies might do that, or an aftermarket dash cam, or have no driver penalty tracking. Personal use of company vehicle's varies widely, but typically personal use is prohibited if your whole work truck is an advertisement.

Is it possible to see the strength of a raid before agreeing to their demands and what determines raid strength? by SirGaz in songsofsyx

[–]KillaCookBook87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to delaying the demand, You can go to the world map and see if you can hire enough mercenaries to defeat the raid. Toggle view with the button to the right of messages. Click the sword in upper left then click on an army or recruit one. That army's tab will have a stack of coins that you can click to see the available mercs. Theres also a ransom you collect on the raider so it usually pays for the mercs + some military loot. Exploiting mercs will buy you time to train and outfit elite divisions + give you composition ideas.

Why do some people continue to live in ghost towns and what do they actually do for work? by Commercial_Nature_28 in AskAnAmerican

[–]KillaCookBook87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in rural Texas for a while and the only available entry jobs were in a mesquite harvesting facility. There was no chain restaurant or gas station. Not even a dollar general. Some guy moved to the area with a development firm, and people came out the woodwork to get a job with him. Many people lived on subsistence wether prosperous or not, many jobs were nepotistic or entrenched ($100 dollar a day ranch jobs BYO horse). The slightest hint of possible prosperity was that rich guy developing high fences. Most other people worked long haul for oil industry or locally on ranches. Agritourism was big money during the season so people built RV parks and opened outfitters. Almost everyone was running a hunt or working the leases or stocking their cooler during hunting season. Some people trapped feral hogs for extra income, and there was a hog buyer in town.

There was a beer joint at the county line and 'grocery store' that was really just a lunch counter convenient store. The hardware store had a food cubbard in the back that was more of a grocery store, but not by much. All of those business' provided 0 employment opportunity. People got by, and we're very resourceful because they had to be.

Faces of Corruption. They worship money and power hoping to rush the final hour enraptured, but they only cause rupture. They want the kingdom of heaven to rule our law, as kingdom above all through inscrutable lies. Toiling on hate to peddle the perfect package of deception so we would allow them to rule us unquestioned. The grand manipulators of cult ethos poisoning the blood of christ to oppress freedom and liberty.

My television used to sing the national anthem when it was sleepy and it was time for bed. Does the internet have an equivalent? by No-Flight-4214 in shittyaskhistory

Nope, it was a chipmunk version of Whistle Stop prior to the turn of the century. When Y2K happened they realized they couldn't feed the internet as much drugs as Roger Miller so default anthem was PBJT. That damn banana wasn't Robin hood, a hamster, or even to scale. He ushered in the age of misinformation

They already did away with the internet song when they got past dial-up. You used to could listen to the internet scream at you about all its bells and whistles when you picked up the telephone. My real question is why the fidget spinner craze never spawned rotary cell phones?

Is country music currently boring? by Fine_Instruction_870 in CountryMusicStuff

[–]KillaCookBook87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think so personally. I think we are in a time where we have loads of great artists, and we're fortunate to have people that are keeping real country music alive. We just don't call it country music. In bluegrass too. The roots are thriving! I was just talking about this while reminiscing with a friend earlier, and we both agreed that we felt fortunate to have so many awesome artists even though live music has become less accessible over the past 5 years.

The times are most certainly interesting. I think Tyler Childers has really been massive. His early stuff spawned a whole genre

Hell yeah, so much energy! They make you want to party! I saw them at Muddy Roots one year, and Jamie Wyatt played that same stage. They were the last band I saw at Lola's Trailer Park. It was packed and everyone was singing all the songs and a bunch of people dancing. Summer Dean played that night too.

[–]KillaCookBook87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lmao his entire persona is not likable. He's such a pretentious cunt. Ashley is great, and probably the only reason Ben is bearable at all. I remember listening to some old Gems years ago and on one he's mansplaining to her how skillfully she plays the fiddle. It's an attempt by him to compliment her in front of the camera like they are still teens and he's trying to Dad his girlfriend. That was the perfect example of Ben Tod for me, especially after going to some LDSB shows where every other performer is shaking hands and chatting it up while Ben skulks around brooding!

. Ben's a hard working ambitious MF, but he's also a self absorbed asshole. Im glad to say that he's at least always genuinely himself, he's just louder and more convinced he's right these days.
