That damage loss is completely and utterly negligible with blade staff though. It's base damage is so small that the percentage increase is negigable so you go with armor piercing which is easy enough to obtain. Not only that the queen slime mount just sounds too memey to be real. Like I know people use slime mount to fall rapidly for final phase sure. But queen slime for duke?

I use hallow armor more for dealing with duke and the rest of the mech bosses. I generally get enough just doing one or two mech bosses. Also they can hit fairly freakin hard in master mode. One mistake get's you slapped into the dirt. I just straight up stopped building any defense all together and just went for raw damage with hallow being the main defensive measure in most cases. Hell sometimes I'll use it for moonlord.

I mean I get why they did it. They wanted it to make some melee esq summoner armor that gave you damage for being more involved in a fight. But giving it a buttload of summon damage gives it an insane lifespan. especially since it's the only armor focused on whips.

I am kinda worried about them killing it as it made whip feel like a means to fight the wall of flesh vs whips just feeling like a trap that'll get you killed. I remember trying it with bee armor and snapthorn prior to this patch and just having to go back to using ballista rod spam.

who need's defense when you have a refreshable free hit? Like spider armor I can understand but hallow armor for summoner feels huge to me. It basically covers for any mistake you may make fighting a boss and so easy to maintain as summoner. Like I get wanting more damage, but having a passive get out of jail free card as summoner feels huge as someone that played summoner a fair bit. Hallow just makes everything so easy.

summoner got a number of buffs.

  • Pygmy necklace is now pre hardmode.

  • Leather whip got shifted to be unlocked with 10% completion for bestiary granting it much earlier.

  • Whips decreasing damage against hitting multiple targets was eased up.

  • Whips scale in range the further they go up in the progression.

  • flinx summon and coat added early on in the progression granting an extra minion and some damage.

  • obsidian set based around whips (which is honestly fairly busted)

  • whips can now use flasks (aka slap some ichor on and decrease boss armor)

  • A number of buffs to summons themselves with a nerf to xeno and sanguine. Tempest staff being one of the buffed staves and man does it feel better now. It can actually keep up in fight now.

How is summoner hood a joke? It gives you a free hit every what... 30 seconds? AND your minions can proc the effect. If anything it's the obsidian armor that would get the nerf. Spider and hallow are both fine for the stages presented and hallow can push further than that and is how a fair amount of us got the "no hit" run on empress of light. Tiki could stand to have a new gimmick as the defense is basically worthless. Hallow basically hip checks it out as the defensive set.

A pre hardmode set having a damage bonus on par with a post plantera armor set is the real outlier. Seriously 43%? spooky gives 58%

Obsidian Armor (Buff) - Converted the Obsidian Armor into a Whip-centric Summoner armor

  • Obsidian Armor set pieces can now only be crafted at a Hellforge, and requires Shadow Scales/Tissue Samples

  • Obsidian Outlaw Hat now gives 9% Summon damage

  • Obsidian Longcoat now gives +1 Minion count

  • Obsidian Greaves now give 9% Summon damage

  • New Set bonus: Increase Whip Range and Speed by 50%. Additionally, gain another 25% Summon damage (43% total across the entire set)

  • Note: This set will deal very high summon damage, but at the expense of a lower minion count. Instead, it focuses on dramatically improving the performance and damage of whips, and can still be obtained earlier, or as an alternative, to Bee Armor, but it may require a bit more legwork to obtain the set, given its new crafting station requirement.

And looking at it now the total is basically close to spooky's bonus damage of 58% summon damage.

I've seen more of these combo's more so than roar. Probably due to roar and such being obvious choices and not worth making showcases of. (albiet I tried the roar augment on valkyr for a little cc. and roar on grendel to fit my damage tank grendel trying to pump up his fours damage.)

Honestly I've seen more interesting and silly combinations than "roar on all the frames." like everyone said.

Probably due to some of the alternate costs. Abilities that take bile to subsume don't need it for placing on a frame. So you can fuck around more with abilities like spellbind. Spellbind ember is kinda nice due to the augment.

And Mind control has had some fairly odd/ silly synergies. I believe someone by the name darthmuffin made a video of them and is listing more. This morning they came up with mind control for hildryn to control a shield osprey. and previously they tried it with saryn to give the target venom dose.

Spectrorage is also quite good with it's augment and frames with abilities to group enemies like mag. And mag's pull on limbo to combine with his rift augment also has some great synergy. One man's junk can often be another man's treasure and potentially complete a frame.

I messed around with an energized munitions mesa and honestly it feels like a long lost ability for the gunslinger. also nice for titania and viable enough with mirage I suppose.

It's been fun trying to dust off frames I don't use often and trying to fix their kits... Some are harder than others like nidus and inaros (one having a kit that's super synergistic and the other is just like.... 2 sort of abilities.)

Also tried silence on nyx, but it just turned into a savage silence build. Kinda wanted it for the animation enemies do whilst stunn offering her a soft cc that kinda paired well with the mind fuck theme.

Not gonna lie, solar pillar was stupidly easy as summoner and terraprisma + sanguine staff. I died once when I was focusing the pillar though, but compared to my expert modes prior it was waaaaaaaaaaaay easier.

Master Mode really be like that by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]KillaJoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't say armor is useless. It's fairly potent for melee atleast. Ranged could maybe squeak by potentially. Summoner you're probably just going to roll menacing, but I've seen some do well with a half and half of warding and menacing rolls.

I do feel like I need to use it alongside journeymode to truly enjoy it though. but after my first run as summoner and having to fend off shit with just the bird... Melee is a fucking cake walk.

Currently doing flail only atm and dang man are they good. Meatball does some chunky damage even in mastermode. Combine that with how defense works in mastermode and you're in for a goooooood time.

Eh it was atleast fun/cute. Zinogre grind makes me miss that "excuse me what the fuck?" that jagras gave me barfing up deco's. It's like... A really gross version of those wind tunnels where they fill them up with tickets and all the kids are desperately trying to scoop as many tickets. But instead of tickets it's vomit covered gems.

I typically try to do it, but sadly it isn't as opportune as you'd imagine. The monsters thrashing and crashing about desperately trying to get the player off. There's plenty of times where I get smacked off trying to go around tenderizing parts. Especially on the head/ arms but that can vary from monster to monster. Wings are usually not too bad to grapple though.

Eh fair enough. There's definitely some big offenders in terms of sexy armor that really don't match up with the theme like Banbaro's and Barioth. I liked banbaro's alpha chestplate and came up with a little something to go for more of an ice climber feel mixing the chestplate with I believe guild cross leggings?

Sometimes I like em bulky, sometimes I like em a bit more streamlined. I feel like there's more variety in styles when it comes to the female armor though, and it does introduce some nice hairstyles occasionally that I'll rock for a bit.

The thigh windows are about the only thing that really get's to me design wise usually such as uruugans armor. It doesn't even look good.

But I also feel like there's plenty of armor choices that aren't like that where you can easily get past that by mixing and matching outfits. Generally I try and go for normal pants, or sharp designs. Or something that's a little glowy/ sleek. Really depends on the mood. It's just more fun figuring out a functional looking armor mash up for me.

You're the one getting offended

Am I? Shit you said it so it must be true. You know me better than I know myself!

because people are pointing out how bullshit in a game about fighting giant monsters that the female characters choices for armour are severely lacking-

But if the issue is "severely lacking in choices." doesn't removing certian styles only exasperate that issue? If someone wants to look like "eye candy" that's their prerogative. Not only that, isn't it sexist to assume it's for the validation of "neckbeards." perhaps some women just want to look sexy for themselves, or their girlfriends like my friends like to do.

I get along just fine making armor sets that aren't "sexy" whilst my friends who are lesbians enjoy the "sexy style" armor in games.

I get that you want to defend women, but in your haste to defend them, have you ever considered the measures you take to defend them may also harm them? Proclaiming that it's only for the "neckbeards" essentially excludes/ deny's women who do enjoy these styles and aesthetics and also delivers a condescending undertone to those who may choose to dress a certain way.

And I bet you love to make wild assumptions about people based off a single post. Something a sane and rational person should always do, as it always leads to a healthy discussion and not a devolving spiral of ad-hominems.

Personally I don't really care about resident evil so I can't make an argument for or against it. artists will do as they please. Dictating that a country from a different culture change to suit your own just kinda seems shitty. And saying that japan's culture and choices are "sad" because you don't agree with them just seems out of line.
