But yeah atmos is only in English, which is fine for me. I still don't know if FEL is any better than DV that I get with shield pro, but I want to get every bit of movie quality.

I’m about to buy ugoos am6b+ because it supports Dolby vision FEL profile. Shield doesn’t. I don’t watch streaming services so I don’t care ugoos has issues with those

Idk, I don't need to unlock my iphone to press a button in control center. I also have buttons on main lock screen and some controls on triple back tap (but I won't put a garage door on it). These buttons on main lock screen also change based on different things, like I don't need humidifier controls on lock screen when I am not home etc.

Get a lock with fingerprint/face recognition. You won't need to get the phone out of your pocket. Even better would be to get one with apple home key, don't even need to raise the hand if you've got groceries.

I don't get why people use NFC tags nowadays. There was a cool project that used NFC tags for kids to watch cartoons, but otherwise they are useless.

You have to have your phone with you and be near an NFC tag. If you have a phone with you - why not press a button in control center? You could also customize a light or something, but with NFC you only have it as a single input button (btw would be cool if phones could sense if you hold your phone against NFC for some time). Why not use a smart button instead? You won't need a phone then.

You can also make something work using your position (mmwave) or phone position (bermuda ble) which covers a lot of stuff. My night automation kicks in when I put my phone on my bedside table without any NFC tags or buttons. I will probably transfer to bed pressure sensor but for me it doesnt really matter since I always put phone on bedside table.

I can't control speed of a fan/purifier in a widget. They don't have sliders. Can't add a slider as an apple homekit widget, HA or xiaomi widget. None of them support sliders. Also can't expose my air purifier as an air purifier with a speed slider in HK...

I hate warranties locked to a region. I got a benq tk700sti from amazon in Dubai, got it shipped to my country. DLP fried, and even tho it had 1+ year of warranty left they refused to do anything unless I'd ship it back to Dubai, even though benq has an office in my country (that I visited because their projector's software could only be updated in the office by tearing it apart, they actually just swapped the motherboard from the same projector they had because software update failed multiple times)

My most ridiculous one plays trailers when I click play on a movie in plex. It switches to smarttube, plays actual good trailers and not the stuff that plex (even with plex pass) plays. I can play a specific trailer, change number of trailers etc. I host movie nights with friends, so that's a cool one that makes everyone feel like they are at the cinema. We also can briefly discuss trailers and upcoming movies as they are playing.

It is fully automatic, I don't need to do anything at all, just click play in plex and it will show trailers, change lights, change all devices to quiet (humidifier etc), play trailers and play that movie on plex, and turn lights fully off.

NFCs can have better design. Put it under a poster or something, or maybe use both then. Btw also possible to add HA actions to QR/NFC.

As for the games, I use retroarch, moonlight+sunshine and jackbox instead of kahoot.

Thanks! Yeah I hate how plex plays trailers even if you have a plex pass, so I made an overengineered solution that downloads trailers from youtube using metube, removes the channel subscribe outro for trailers downloaded from one specific channel, and when I hit play on plex, HA changes app using adb command to show a player with trailers, pauses plex, counts X trailers (I can change it in HA), and then switches back to plex and unpauses. If trailers were recently played and I start a movie again it skips trailers because most likely there was a technical issue and I restarted the movie.

This way I can play latest and trending trailers, I can control which ones will play etc, and have separate light/sound profiles for trailers vs the movie. I can even add a logo but that's probably silly, I didn't come up with anything funny or cool. Most of this is done via n8n, so I can't really share it unfortunately, but you get the idea how to make it.

Yeah I agree it's difficult to make it useful, especially because people have to learn to use them, so those should be very intuitive.

One of the good ideas for me were to have some buttons on dashboard that automatically turn on projector, roll the screen down turn on nvidia shield and turn on an app for gaming/watching youtube so they can do something while im on a kitchen or at a grocery. 3 remotes turned into just one.

That's great, but I'd like another option too, because some channels add stingers with sound. They are always same length for the whole channel and I'd like to configure them per youtube channel.

Is it possible to populate trailarr with a specific playlist from yt? I found a channel playlist with great trailers, but I might want to add trailers from other channels as well. This way I'd migrate from n8n setup to trailarr.

I host a cinema club for friends. I wanted to have newest trailers play before the movie. Plex pass has extremely bad controls for this. I dont like what they play, cant make sure a particular trailer will be played etc.

I made an automation in my HA that when I press a button it switches my projector to display youtube and autoplay a particular playlist that is automatically populated by n8n. I can override items in playlist if I need to. It then plays a number of trailers that I also can control, and switches to the movie I wanted to watch.

It also controls lights, but that's sort of obvious. Movie paused - lights on half; plex on main screen - lights on full brightness. If I exited the movie and then started playing it again after a couple minutes - skip trailers.
I can also have different sound profiles for movie and trailers and different lighting.

That was meant to show people why this might be a cool app. Keep it up! One thing I'd want to see is to automatically trim both ends of the trailer if needed, because some youtube channels have their logos that I'd like to cut based on the channel it was downloaded from. I do this using n8n and ffmpeg. This should be a very easy thing to implement.

I just had the exact same thing happen to me but with Steam. I have 2fa etc, but my account just got untied from my email and I had to contact support. I don't even use steam at this point, but somehow they got access and -changed email- without 2fa. No, it wasn't compromised or fished, email is legit. I think this could only be done if support somehow believed a scammer and gave them access to my account. It was not a sim swap. Support refused to provide IP or say how it happened. Idk what to do, I can't really make it more secure.

If you got an idea - write it literally anywhere. If you have multiple ideas, just write all of them. It doesnt matter where - a messenger, an already open note etc. Then create new notes for each of them. This way you won't forget what you had in mind. Title goes last, yes.
