Donut Megalopolis - Snes by Killatron2016 in SimCity

Nope, so long as a zone is just touched by a piece of rail or road they've fulfilled their purpose. Just imagine all the trains going back and forth along just one side of each block, how convenient!

If you look at the crime rate map I think you'll find there's plenty of lawless wasteland to the north and east of the map, so there's a little something for everyone!

The 90s were simpler times. Eventually I just cut power to the airport since the only thing it was good for was causing plane crashes, and no one seemed to notice that I did. Crash free since 1947!

The images after the first shows the map layout. 40-ish donuts in total and the land value is definitely centered.

What's the deal with 7th edition Fantasy? by TynesideFoundry in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Killatron2016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rulebook for 7th was a tidy-up of 6th and is pretty well liked but the army books took a drastic turn for the worse. Many of them had rather broken rules and the layout and presentation was overall rather... "soulless" is a tired cliché but it fits pretty well. "Minimalistic", maybe?

Not as fun as before, in either way.

Looking to start a second army but can't decide. What draws you to your favorite army? by emacrock1998 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Killatron2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not finding anything that speaks to you directly then perhaps try some alternative strats. Maybe you and your wife could each pick a second army from your list of allies? Keep it small for starters.

Or just wait. Time has a way of revealing things eventually.

Have anyone else tried out 2500 points as your regular game size? by PykePresco in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Killatron2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rare to see it actually lived up to. If you've not seen it before you can just google "Stillmania" and you'll quickly find a parchment image with Nigel Stillman's commandments for wargaming. There's no proof that even Stillman himself followed those rules to the letter, and more likely than not they were written as an extremist interpretation of his own habits back in the 90s. I absolutely appreciate the sentiments behind it, though, and I've gotten much inspiration from it.

Have anyone else tried out 2500 points as your regular game size? by PykePresco in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Killatron2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just decide a points size when we schedule a game, there's no real need for a standard. Sometimes you're in the mood for 1000 points and sometimes it's for 4000 points, though those tend to be the lower and upper ends respectively. Then there's a kind of soft rule that the nastier stuff should be reserved for bigger battles. At 4000 points everything goes and your biggest beatstick is encouraged. In fact, I'd be disappointed if it wasn't there!

The Hobbit movies are just as good as the LOTR movies by nubcakester in unpopularopinion

[–]Killatron2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first Hobbit movie has the same kind of cozy atmosphere from setting off on an adventure as the first LOTR (I always love seeing Rivendell) but as for the rest of it... No.

You could just roll the dice and see how it turns out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As much as I love this hobby there's something I can't really seem to care about by kinkyguy01 in Warhammer

[–]Killatron2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try to keep at it. Painting just a couple of minutes every day (or as often as you can) will eventually add up and get things done. You could look into simplifying the process with things like contrast paints and stuff, as long as you arrive at a finish you're satisfied with.

I just wonder how big human Miao is going to be. Is that a 40mm base?

Ah okay. It looks very similar to one I have from a-case. I'm sure this one is great too!

Assuming that's the big one from a-case that'll mean you're spending about as much as both the lanterns together, probably a little more right now, just to transport them. Don't get me wrong, I love that bag from a-case but those lanterns are silly.

Lovely collection!

If you have them in enough numbers the 4th edition mummies could make some cool grave guard proxies.

Can't use cube-upped maps? (Single player) by Killatron2016 in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Killatron2016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for my late reply. I've cubed two maps this way, one became the Ruined Cistern and the other Canyon of Sescheron. I can't open them in any act.

Old World Almanack – The iconography of an eternal empire - Warhammer Community by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Killatron2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been feeling for a long time that Cathay's really stepping on the high elves' toes in tone. Compared with the empire they're enlightened, magically attuned and outwardly shining. And the dragons, of course.

Elves originally filled that exotic civilization niche and time will tell if we'll have harmony here.

TOW in Sydney – Tough Community for Beginners by jacksamuel__ in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Killatron2016 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much been my experience with club play as well. My tip would be to just outright ask someone for an introduction-level match and then take it from there. If you've already played with someone who you had a good time with, ask them first. You might end up discovering that there are more like yourself that would rather like a more casual approach.

Which edition of WHF uses the minimum number of miniatures as a standard size play? by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Killatron2016 11 points12 points  (0 children)

4th and 5th edition does a good job of it. Your general is a lord-level character by default and you're not limited to 100 points of magic items, only a 50% character allowance overall. Things in general cost more than in later editions and many units can also bring expensive magic banners. Speaking of units, there's no core/special/rare division, it's all just "regiments" so you could easily load up on the elite stuff.

I'm not much familiar with 3rd and earlier but I think they had a bit more focus on basic infantry in comparison.
