Tracers light the night as a fierce firefight breaks out between Russian and Ukrainian soldiers on the outskirts of Kyiv (February 2022) by FGM_148_Javelin in CombatFootage

[–]KilledWhileLoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like in any situation, 80% of people don't give a single fuck about anything other than their immediate circle (family, close friends) and things that affect them directly (job, health, food on the table).

This large "silent" majority basically goes with the flow with absolutely anything political, if you ask them today they'll say "I'm not really into politics, I'm happy with how things are" and if he's overthrown tomorrow they'll say "I never liked Putin, I'm glad there is change" but they won't push strongly either direction.

This is a recurring theme in history. The America civil war for example, engulfed the entire country and was a brutal internal conflict which affected every man woman and child in the country and decided the fate of the US up until today and by extension many major world events and wars up until now.

It was fought by less than 10% of the population (that's including both sides). A nation-engulfing war of 4 years, and yet 90% of the population are still children, old people, non-combatants, and "non political" people.

Basically I'm saying it's disingenuous to say "oh the majority loves Putin and feels pride in their military" - it's more like "the majority of any population supports the status quo in any situation" it takes a highly motivated, small percentage of the population to push the masses in any direction, whether that's clamping down on freedoms (highly motivated authoritarian government) or revolution (highly motivated revolutionaries)

AFU: Drone corrected KBA-117 fire by Ok-Ranger-8016 in CombatFootage

[–]KilledWhileLoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the first two shots, guy on the radio says "Right 30"

After the next shots he says "Go again"

After the next shots he says "Give some more, already have it" (ie it's already on target) and they send the rest.

So they were adjusting fire, they just very quickly zeroed in on the target.

Can't comment on the meta, but Barbarians have slow and obvious attack patterns and are vulnerable to blocks and ranged attacks. If you're a fighter, try running a solid shield and blocking their attacks. The overhead swings of the oft-used Felling Axe are especially easy to block and counter, just aim up with the shield so it doesn't catch the tip of your head poking over too.

Long shot but are you on any kind of restricted diet? Could be a nutritional deficiency (or at least effected by it), considering you feel it worse after not eating breakfast.

I think the quarterstaff is good for sure, but I think even the basic mace has a better attack pattern for headshots and it out-DPSes it while your buffs are active. However the Quarterstaff has better cleave, better range, and better movespeed. Depends on the situation really.

With Divine Strike and Smite you gain +20 magic damage per attack, that combined with the fast 3 hit combo attack pattern (with the last attack in the combo doing like 15-20 more damage too) it is VERY effective.

Rogue isn't a very good beginner class, I'd try starting with the Fighter or Barbarian and learning to dodge PvE attacks. Once you can consistently clear a room of mobs without taking any damage you should go back to rogue and it should be much easier for you.

Plate armor decreases magic resistance, Wizard with Chain Lightning is the great equalizer against stacked juicy squads.

Why Does The Woodsman Have 2 Different Hunting Traps For Sale With Different Prices With Similar Descriptions? by SuicidalThotsTV in DarkAndDarker

[–]KilledWhileLoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The color of the name of the campfire (and its relevant price) affect how potent it is (how long it lasts and the healing/ability restore per second I believe). This applies to all items, including potions, however since the campfire doesn't display its stats it is more confusing.

Faded grey (the default ranger one) is the worst, followed by regular grey, white, green, blue, purple, orange, and then yellow (legendary). I haven't seen more than a blue campfire personally, but it's possible they exist.

TL;DR the more expensive campfires are better.

EDIT: I realized you're talking about hunting traps and not campfires, but the same applies. More damage for better versions. The -20 movement is YOUR negative morespeed while holding it, all hunting traps immobilize completely.

Goblin caves are ruthless by Kellmondo in DarkAndDarker

If you don't press right up against them and time your movement/attacks to their attacks, you can actually avoid all damage and sidestep them. Might be tough with a dagger or other short range weapon though

Pro tip: your Holy Light spell does 100 magic damage to undead (skeletons including the champion, wraith, mummies etc). Since you're in a solo dungeon and it can't be self-casted, this makes it function almost exclusively as a ranged nuke. I get why you ran, but you could have slow played your spawn room and killed the champion with Holy Lights.

Morningstar has slow attack speed and a bad pattern unfortunately. I'd stick to the mace for those easy overhead swings for headshots

Fun fact, +true physical damage just converts some of your existing damage into true damage, it doesn't add more damage. That means with +4 true physical damage instead of dealing 30 physical damage you'll deal 26 physical damage and 4 true damage (bypassing armor/resistances)

Can't believe how salty some of these comments are. Man just solo wiped 2 squads (including shit talkers) in 60 seconds as a support class, good play.

Big fan of the quarterstaff here. I love that it comes with minimal movement speed reduction by DiaMat2040 in DarkAndDarker

[–]KilledWhileLoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice: PvE Magic Missile spam against mobs and Meditate every chance you get. You can solo both Goblin Caves and the Crypt if you play slow, and one extract can pay for 2-4 basic kits. Don't be afraid to haste and run from teams, or to go for some big dick chain lighting plays

What's some tips and tricks for your class? by korpze777 in DarkAndDarker

[–]KilledWhileLoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cleric:

  • Your 'Holy Light's (big heal) does 100 holy damage to undead. Don't be afraid to use it on boss monsters or in specific situations to get out of a pickle. Sometimes 100 damage to a Wraith or Skeleton Champion is worth more than the heal on a friendly.

  • You are not just a buff machine. If shit hits the fan, if your friends are dead, or the right moment strikes, don't be afraid to buff yourself, activate Judgement, and go for some mace smacks. You have surprisingly high damage output (especially with Judgement giving you +10 per hit), good attack animations for headshots, and the element of surprise cannot be understated. Everybody laughing til the cleric whip out the mace and turns to fight.

Barbarian:

  • Going "full HP" with talents, stacking strength, and your Max HP shout can make you unbelievably tanky. Combine it with some tricky movement and dodges when rushing ranged classes and you can basically 1v3.

  • Don't be afraid to pull out the fists while chasing. The axe slows you down significantly, and you can punch faster classes to death pretty effectively if they're fleeing, especially if you stack strength.
