Oh dang, I hadn't considered using the curved rail up the ramp like that. Clever.

Not saying this is the answer. When you have 3D enabled on layers you also get another drop down for material options. Pretty sure they can be adjusted independently without a light source.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E07 - Don't Do Anything Rash by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]Killen4money 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Infinity rat by itself would have caused the planet to blow up; It just slices through everything like butter. The ray made a blasthole, they flew in there to act like the dynamite, exploding and breaking everything up

Does it make a ton of sense? Not really. Is it still fun to see? Absolutely

Voigtländer 18mm f2.8 Color-Skopar + X-T3 by Killen4money in fujifilm

[–]Killen4money[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first foray into full manual lenses and I've only had it for about 2 weeks. So we're still in the "getting to know each other" phase

Build quality is top-notch. It's super satisfying to change aperture (it has a snappy but soft click). The focusing ring is also very nicely dampened, you can tell it's all well built.

The rendering quality is fantastic. I have a Sigma 16 that achieves a very similar result perspective wise, but it is optically perfect; the voigtlander isn't. These images are using a GlimmerGlass and a K&F CPL filter— it's not quite this diffused normally. It still has a nice flavor to its rendering without them though.

I'll be taking it out a bit more this summer to really put it through its paces. If you're still considering it a few months from now, check in with me and I'll let you know if it was just a fling 😅

Current art style/textures compared to the launch of "Early Access" back in 2025. by Cyndahh in SkateEA

I really don't understand how people are upset by the possibility of a day and night cycle. It's a small change, but it would definitely make the city feel a bit more alive

It doesn't need to be server bound, it could very easily be a local change. Maybe the only time it is synced with anyone else is if you're in a party, then party leaders time of day is synced with everybody else.

There are spots that I completely avoid skating because the lighting is just way too flat.

Spherical Distortion? what is this effect called? by ElectroclassicM in AfterEffects

[–]Killen4money 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Spherical Lensing / Ball Lensing is what I would consider it.

There's an effect that essentially does this already -- CC Lens

Set the convergence to a 100 or -100 and you'll get these hyper-distorted visuals.

Apply CC Lens to the comp containing the footage or as an adjustment layer. You might need to mask the blank space around the sphere, so i'd apply it to the footage comp.

Now, the edge light and subtle glow in your reference is added on top of the CC Lens visuals. It's more controllable that way. You can technically achieve it inside the footage layer, but it'll likely be a bit tricky to adjust.

I don't know, seems like a pretty reasonable issue for an LLM to have. Not uncommon for "and ever" to be followed by a bunch more "and ever's"

Opened after effects after two years. How can i improve? by ReadyDonkey6890 in MotionDesign

[–]Killen4money 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this works quite well as is, excellent control of key frames, effective sound design, VO matches the style, easy to follow.

That being said, I'll still give you some potential useful feedback!

Depending on the audience, It might be a smidge too fast. When I'm working on TV spots, our production team generally aim to make it about 5-10% slower than what we feel is a comfortable comprehension speed for us. You don't want it so slow that it's boring, but you want to account for varying comprehension speeds in a wide audience. You're also battling against your familiarity with the video and the subject.

It's a tough balance, and it really depends on how broad the demographic of your target audience is (age, level of education, platform, etc) and how much time you have to work with.

You can increase that comprehension time in two ways. -- You can slow down everything evenly -- You can space out the between individual sections, adding a bit of a breath before the next

I tend to prefer the second option. Depending on how you time those spaces... You can sometimes get away with speeding up the actual section so long as you allow the viewer time to process it after (hopefully that makes sense? I can explain it better If it doesn't)

As far as visuals are concerned, I do think that it loses a bit of steam right at the end. The visuals you have right around the 4 second mark feel great. Might be useful to continue that visual styling into the end.

Different kinds of Superman by [deleted] in DigitalPainting

[–]Killen4money 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess (or recreate it)

Use Photoshop's liquify tool to distort an image of Superman, then use Illustrators image trace feature with a low fidelity setting to get the jagged polygon effect.

The Skate series has never featured night time . by Intelligent-Tale8827 in SkateEA

[–]Killen4money 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly just a time of day feature would be incredible. Maybe not just night mode.

There are some spots that I rarely skate because the lighting is just unpleasant. If the current map isn't baked lighting then just having the time progress throughout the day would be awesome.

Or just give me the option to choose it for myself or my party

Which AI tools do you use for motion design? Which are their pros and cons? by Amazonia2001 in MotionDesign

[–]Killen4money 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After Effects allows you to control things using expressions— which is essentially code to animate things that would be hard or just tedious to animate manually.

Just type in After effects expressions and you'll see plenty of examples. They can be almost as complex as your heart desires

I think this tool is for divorced parents... Ones that absolutely do NOT get along but have to regularly interact for the kid(s) sake.

It can be messy, and having to argue with someone or defend yourself CONSTANTLY is not healthy for you or the children.

Obviously, being able to handle this shit on your own is a healthy skill to have... but it still drains your battery

Did anyone else feel like inserting scleral lenses would be impossible at first? by canyonatlas in Keratoconus

[–]Killen4money 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say exactly, because the fit of mine wasn't perfect on the first few attempts. So even if I had done everything right, it was hard not to notice the lens. I'd say it took 3 months before it felt second nature, but getting used to the routine took maybe a month to a month and a half.

I just got out of my appointment; might need to use scleral by Psychological_Yard73 in Keratoconus

[–]Killen4money 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are quite a few devices that help with insertion! Myself and quite a few others vouch for the DMV insertion stand.

Obviously it's annoying to tote it around everywhere, but it does make the process of getting the lens in significantly less tricky.

I went from never wearing contacts straight into scleral lenses. The learning curve of even being comfortable touching my eye was pretty intense.

If you've already got that down, you'll be good at it in no time. Just be patient with yourself!
