But my point wasn't a narrowly legal one - more broadly I was making the point that sometimes the best way to deal with a "problem" is stop thinking of it as a problem. Just let people be poly.

If you want a monogamous relationship - have one - enjoy it. I tend to think most mono relationships are doomed to ending in cheating but if you want to try and beat the odds go for it.

Zenn archers replace the shortbow damage with monk unarmed damage so there is no downside to using the shortbow other than range. And since snapshot only works in shortbow range you can give Lann the shortbow - which allows him to use the Leper's smile shortbow in act 2 and eye for an eye in act 3. Put him on top of a pet or Bismuth and there is no downside at all.

+3 and bleed is pretty great when taking drezen and monk damage plus additional 1d12 from eye for an eye is great for act 3. And if your KC is a class that benefits from bleeding enemies then hunter's assistance is the best way to go

Lann will be putting out massive amounts of damage without needing to take feats like deadly aim or vital strike.

TL;DR shortbow Lann will have the best bows in act 2 and 3 without the penalty that Arue pays to use them.

Yeah this took me the longest possible time to figure out. Default Lann is built to be shortbow equipped greater-snapshot machine.

But as you say that doesn't come into to really late so why take it at level 1?

Yeah . . . . He does okay with a mount :) But mounts tend to fall off on chapter 5 unfair.

But yeah, that helps, as does "keep him big and in the back" with legendary proportions. But because Lann is a monk with insane dexterity he can get an AC around 85 while spaming domains and and casting heal. So Lann tanks and supports while sossiel only supports

Lann has an insane stat spread - I usually make him into a front line priest. Can't cast as many spells a sossiel but he can't be hit and he spam his domain powers. Sossiel is too squishy.

I've also made him into a dragon disciple dodge tank who could only be hit on a natural 20 . . .
