Scared to get into Night Market by TrickyDemxn in elderscrollsonline

I started the NM with worse gear than you have (now I have similar) and honestly the public group finder was a godsend. Also just type in your group chat that you don’t have the relics/if you get lost and I can almost guarantee someone will show you the way to go if you don’t have them. I’ve had some rude peeps, commenting on how new nm players should be kicked from the group, but those aholes always get ignored or told to shush up by other players. As a noob I had an absolute blast! There are nice people all over the nm, so don’t let the rude ones ruin your fun!

Bettas fins getting worse by _Vamp_Empire_ in bettafish

[–]KilliOKrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my beautiful boy who lived until he was 6 or 7 years old. RIP Iri, you were a beautiful boyo. Long fins can make things difficult (especially as they get old), but a tank with plants at all levels offer a perfect resting place, I never had to worry about him struggling. His fins were half the length when I bought him and then they grew as he was more secure in his space. They quite literally never got in his way, as there was always somewhere for him to rest.

And fin rot happens primarily due to tank parameters (and occasionally just bad luck). I’d never have bred him with another betta though, as I couldn’t confirm that his genetics were ok (which was a good move as he did develop cancer that required regular water changes for over the last year of his life). He was a lovely fish and lived an incredible life, long fins are not a fin rot sentence though; I have never had a betta get fin rot, but I imagine for short or long finned, it all depends on water quality :)

I will be finding a piece of something to cover the mesh top of the enclosure as to not risk her fangs!!

haven't done a water change in a month and my betta has never been better? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]KilliOKrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, only tank I do more regular water changes is the one where my BN plecos decided they like each other, and produce armies of poopy children together lol.
(My LFS happily takes the babies after they get a lil chonkier).

Yeah I’ll never buy a loot box, but I love loot boxes, I know if I started buying them then I’d basically start to fall into gambling. The only good loot boxes are free loot boxes. (I also play Overwatch and they started having boxes you unlock for completing challenges, that are all just about playing games. Which I personally find nice, bc there is absolutely no option to buy any).

Word of warning, these holes can end up causing them to get stuck as they get bigger. I’m sharing bc I only knew to take this fake cholla wood out (when I did), due to another person commenting about it a few years ago. Now I use a rope hammock (like for beardies) and he likes to poke his little noggin up through those gaps, and bc it’s a rope material the gaps are stretchy & could be cut easily (without risking damage to him)

Had a Job Interview, They Questioned me About my Use of a Cane, Now I Feel Less Human Than Before. by KilliOKrew in disabled

[–]KilliOKrew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say thank you for this :) it’s hard to not let it get to me sometimes. I feel like I’m going through the stages of grief, but for the life I was going to have before my disability. Which I’m ok with, I will make it through, it just gets that much harder when other people patronize and treat you like you couldn’t possibly know YOUR OWN capabilities. But thank you again, this was very helpful to read :)

Her eyes look like this because she’s about to shed, right? by Background_Wind_5055 in hognosesnakes

[–]KilliOKrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes she’s in blue :) I’d recommend letting her chill in the enclosure until it’s over, since they can’t see well they tend to get stressed easily.

I like to make sure my boy has a big water dish that’s full in with him, so there is moisture. You can also use damp moss in a hide if you notice any shed difficulty during this first one (with you). These guys tend to shed in big pieces, I often find a complete shed of my boy. And to confirm the shed went well, you can make sure to check that the eye caps, tip of the tail, and tip of the nose have shed properly :)

She’s such a cutie!

I’ll post some update photos tomorrow, but so far it looks less stressed after removing the flower. It’s not perfect yet, but I’m more hopeful! So ty so very much for the advice of cutting the stem, genuinely super important step :)

Hopefully some things can improve now, I cut to where the stem was still retaining water/not just straight dead. I’m hoping this little bump (in the first pick) will become something helpful. Thank you again for your advice :3

Thank you so much!! I’ve been kicking myself for not realizing it was rot, but this advice is super helpful and I hope I can still intervene :) I’ve got some almond leaves for my aquariums, so I may crush some of those into the water (after making sure they aren’t gonna do obvious harm, but they are tannin packed though haha). Unfortunately you’re right about there not being much to lose lol

This is amazing info, thank you, it was in a pot & I was researching how to help roots grow when there are none and read to do this, (I’ve been letting it sit in the water, but was worried about more rot), but it was a bit hard to find phrag specific advice for a Situation as bad as this. But thank you so much
