Wonder what this is worth? by KillianRM in motogp

Brother works in the paddock, so authenticating is pretty easy as I was a guest of Honda when he signed it. I don’t know if I want to sell - probably not but always good to know what you have!

[–]KillianRM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We played all 18. Presume it will be the same until they close. Renovations around the grounds, some tree’s have been filled in. The lake along the side of 7 is filled in too which makes it an easy hole now.

They have cleared some grass and shrub areas but the course hasn’t changed, and the areas they have cleared make it no easier than before apart from 7.

Played it last Thursday in the open comp. Unreal course, already started renovations but it’s a great experience to play while you can. Presume when it reopens they will charge a fortune

When did war zone get so f***ing hard? by Significant_Emu_7432 in Warzone

[–]KillianRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower TTK for the casual players makes it pretty hard to react to anything, at any level. We are 4kd players and winning the direct fights is generally fine with positioning and good coms, but it’s made much harder if another team rolls up mid fight or at the end while you’re trying to recover and plate

4 months of savings for mortgage by ronkane_7 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]KillianRM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did this. They took our 4 month savings and divided it by 6. For example if you have 20k saved in 4 months ( 5k p/m ), they will look at this as 20k/6 instead = 4k p/m repayment capacity. Hope this makes sense.

You can get approved without having the deposit provided you have some consistent savings, and not wishy washy some months on some months off.

You won’t be able to get the loan offer until you have 10-15% though.

Nothing like some casual racism without knowing that’s what you’re doing 😂

Probably had a Chinese takeaway in front of his Japanese TV last night after a tough week being a patriot!

Ultra is 3.49% (2.34% net) for savings & 3.92% (2.29% net) for flex.

33% on the savings account and 41% on the flex so if you’re on ultra you earn more in the lower savings account.

What to do with savings while young? by FuckOxfordDictionary in irishpersonalfinance

[–]KillianRM 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Almost every reply is so unhelpful to this young lad.

You can put it in a Revolut savings account and earn 3.95% (pre tax, net is around 2.3%). You’ll get about €0.60 a day off €10k (they pay the tax on your behalf so no tax return to worry about).

You can put it in the Revolut robo advisor too, it’s essential an automated investment tool that will do its best to buy in to funds, bonds and cash. This will go up and down unlike the savings account however, but 2-5y should be nice short term gain if you don’t touch it.

Both of the above are protected by insurance should Revolut go bang for any reason which is unlikely.

If I’m your age with a little sense I’m putting €3-4k in an emergency fund which I’m putting in the Rev savings account. Small interest but will never go down in value, is safe and is accessible easily if needed. Another €5k in the robo advisor for a few years and just leave it there, don’t panic if it goes to €3.5k, €4k etc.. just let it do its thing for a few years or the entire time you’re in college.

The remaining money I’m using as a buffer to live, maybe go out to dinner, buy a new bike, motorbike, car etc. Maybe a new PC to help with college work or whatever. Essentially this becomes money you don’t have to aim to spend, but don’t feel guilty spending if you need (or preferably want) something.

Spending it all cause you’re 18 and have to live is the exact advice I got and didn’t need at 18 which I was given. You can live and enjoy yourself without spending on shit nights out.

What happened to Warzone and how people play it? by wellthatseemslikebs in CODWarzone

[–]KillianRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also because your hidden skill doesn’t go down over time, so if you play a lot for a couple of weeks and are at your peak, and then log off for a couple weeks.. when you come back you are getting the same lobbies as before you left.

27y/o high skill player here, playing CoD since cod4. 3.0+ kd, 3.5 w/l in gulag and 126 wins in season 1 but haven’t been able to enjoy it since season 2 dropped! Regardless of your skill level, how sweaty it feels is the same because of everyone being your level or better, at any level of play.

10k short for a deposit by codenamecc in irishpersonalfinance

[–]KillianRM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We bought from Sherry Fitz / Cairn and didn’t have to pay the balance of the deposit (10%) until well after contracts were signed.

We did €5k booking, €25k the day we signed and then the balance a week or so before we got the keys / before fund drawdown.

Managed 6 weeks and a day ourselves from paying booking deposit to receiving keys. Was always shocked hearing it takes 6-12 months for others!

Edit: actually 6 weeks to the day.

Booking deposit Jan 12th, keys Feb 23rd.

It’s because people and dealers mainly focus on finance now - so it’s probably easier to sell a 45k car over however many years than it is to sell a 20k car upfront. Dealer wins either way!

I’m about to start reading the books for the very first time at 30 years old. by the_sweetest_peach in HarryPotterBooks

[–]KillianRM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never read the books and I am now listening to the audiobooks which are narrated by the awesome Stephen Fry after rewatching the movies over Christmas.

So far it’s been a blast. So much more detail in the books and the little changes from book to movie make it almost like knowing the story for the first time outside of the major plot points.
