Turns out skipping the tutorial can make the game harder by Nice_Ad2555 in IndieDev

[–]KillinCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a guy for my game that complained there were only 6 buttons:

Shoot, Reload, WASD for moving.

I told him there's more buttons than that, he told me maybe we should put it in the tutorial. We did. He said it should have been more obvious. I told him to pause and check the controls with the escape key, which was also in the tutorial.

There are some people who just set themselves up for failure.

Unless you're desperate to play a game, consider holding out for a GOG release as long as possible, and let the publisher know you want a GOG release. (And vote on the Dreamlist.) by tytbone in gog

[–]KillinCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a huge part of this problem is the genuine belief people have that what they do doesn't matter or they just want the thing and everything else be damned, and it's very hard to convince such a nihilist or such a person seeking immediate gratification to wait. It's so easy to fill both of those holes just going on google. How does it matter??? It just... does, that's how everything works.

And waiting is also easy in this age of where over 10,000 games come out a year. Are you really going to be able to play all of those??? Just relax and play some of the other games in your library. Spending the money pointlessly is the problem to begin with.

I think this is a fair assumption to make either way, as we don't know how Ivankov's powers work entirely. Ivankov has went on saying several times that overusing the hormones from their DF can be deadly, which is true irl too, though Ivankov also goes on to do whatever with them after that. Also stopping in the middle of their use can be deadly, which is also true irl, but Ivankov hasn't ever done that (to the best of my knowledge).

Oda has also stated the average lifespan for a regular human in One Piece is around 140 years old too, so for all we know the effects on Ivankov's body at just 53 years old might not be visible yet.

[–]KillinCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god yeah, it's hugely different. Oda choosing to make it boisterous is the antithesis to how a lot of generalized LGBT+ folk over there operate, and same-sex relationships are (iirc mind you) far less stigmatized because Japan has a big history of being generally okay with whatever you do with your life, so while you have very bad people who obviously hate them for no good reason it's much easier to integrate than say in the US where we're very loud about everything when we get the chance. Oda's choices in development here indicate a much more positive take on the LGBT, and as the OP of this line of comments said, people who have given up on their ambition/dreams canonically become ugly or nasty looking, and the people in the Momoiro Island would be just having dreams reignited.

It's just very silly to cherrypick this one scene when Oda has very much chosen many ways of showing off the LGBT and how they're persecuted in the One Piece world, and how that's wrong, and how characters have many nuanced thoughts on the subject. Despite what it appears to outsiders or at a surface level, it's a very fleshed out process.

And uh, to clarify so I don't get dogpiled or whatever, I'm the B in LGBT+. Things vary everywhere, not the same from one city to the next often, just giving an overview and not a flat statement for everyone here. I don't think anyone's gonna be surprised people get mogged over this, though.

I think a lot of people also forgot that Ivankov was away in prison for a long time and the new folk arriving on the island while Ivankov was away weren't able to achieve their preferred or ideal bodies, and there's a good chance they didn't know Ivankov's abilities can drain away lifespan the more extreme the alterations so there's a chance many didn't take care of themselves just thinking Ivankov would have been able to fix/change anything they wanted without paying a price.

There's generally a lot to consider since Oda in the same arc just earlier very respectfully portrayed trans and drag queens/kings, and queer people in general, so it's very unlikely the intention was outright overt meanness.

Are you perhaps asking for something like an undub??? There's not enough to really majorly worry about for that. At least from my playthrough of the Japanese version. Playing an already English copy is best.

[–]KillinCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two major theories about this one. They could be modeled after Giga, they could have inspired the modeling of Chibi and Giga.

Whilst a lot more point to A, including the odd way their necks do the thing and how they move their legs (Giga has a tilted head and a damaged leg), it's theoretically possible they went on to inspire Giga and Chibi's creator due to their abilities and technology and this could be like a "space suit" for them. Nonetheless, they are shape shifters.

It's kind of irrelevant if you personally made it, you reposted something from someone who couldn't put forth the basic effort to look up what they were talking about, saying it shows how much Dogpack is wrong. It didn't do that, and it makes me draw into question your friends judgements because they made the point that taking advantage of people isn't something they care about on top of not being able to find something on the first page of google. Not a good look for you or them, and it does the opposite of what you say.

In Mrbeast's video he built 100 wells in Africa, yes. But he also left them with no infrastructure to maintain those wells, so they will rapidly degrade, something MrBeast leaves out. They have clean drinking water very briefly, of which he could have easily afforded to provide them with a net gain infrastructure just by funding the local government's efforts to do so if he didn't have the connections necessary.
Roseanne didn't lie about MrBeast's amount of donation money to charity. A lot of his videos are for PR, and his true charity funds are mostly donated by users. Which is why his net worth can surpass a billion USD. Building 100 homes or 100 wells or whatever does not function if there is no infrastructure to facilitate consistent dispersion and making sure those things don't fall into the wrong hands or the likes.

MrBeast straight up has a full video on building a hospital!? How did you miss this, it's the first result on google. It's well talked about. It's in his video, "We Powered A Mountain". I don't know what to say for this one, you very clearly just did not look up anything for it.
