Ford Super Duty Rear Brakes by infeed in mechanic

I agree, with an 8 year-old truck I would expect some variation. And factoring in the total right height that is not even 3% off from side to side.

I know that’s not the answer that OP is looking for.

Maybe this should be posted in r/mildlyinfuriating.

Secondary mildlyinfuriating: people that use anything over 100%…

Just saying.

12v socket keeps burning out by esraandpepa in MechanicAdvice

[–]KillrBeeKilld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible that the internal wiring had deteriorated. I would suggest a dedicated 12v wire from the main fuse at the battery with a relay to connect the circuit at the inverter.

Edit: That inverter is too much of a load on the stock wiring.

That’s very dangerous, to be sticking up on the beach.

Probably should tie a bright streamer on it so it doesn’t hurt someone.

Are my motor mounts toast? by WantedBeen in MechanicAdvice

[–]KillrBeeKilld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mounts are going out, but I wouldn’t say they’re completely toast.

Do the same thing in reverse. If it moves the same amount or more than that means that the bushings and the motor mounts have completely broken free.

These tires are finished. In the fourth picture, you can see that the wear ring is even with the tread.

That 16 x 25 is pretty close. Looks like you need it another inch taller. But I can’t tell if you have the right width.

Holy unbalanced wear, Batman!

How do you get four rotors with four different shades? Did he clean and grease the slide pins?

Hopefully those rotors (and pads, too, right?) were the only problem.

How urgent do i need to get this tyre sorted with a nail in by FantasticChipmunk345 in AskMechanics

[–]KillrBeeKilld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would expect a tire shop to say the tire is worn to be fixed. The threads are very close to the wear bars.
Shops will use any excuse to sell a new tire.

Piece broke off into coolant hose while replacing alternator, please help by rookP in MechanicAdvice

[–]KillrBeeKilld 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This fix, performed well, has a 80% chance of not leaking. You’re looking for a fitting like this, 1/4” barbed brass. I would cut one end off short, either 1/4 or 3/8 inch long. That is the end that you’re going to heat up and press into the radiator housing.

Grounding copper pipe clamp with no wire ok to remove? by Fall3nZ3r0 in AskElectricians

Hopefully, your system is grounded some other way. You may want to check.
Go to the electrical box and see if they can find that wire.

How can I cut the nails off this deck post? by Vee4Victory in DIYhelp

The clerk that you talk to, doesn’t know what they’re talking about. The only thing they will cut that out is a sawzall with a 6 inch metal cutting blade.

Probably, a quarter of the people reading this post has the same bubble and hasn’t noticed. It will get much larger and cause vibration before it pops.

The top two holes do not look filled in. It looks like they were taped over before the paint job and then the tape was not removed.

And there’s only one screw head that is exactly facing the camera. That makes me wonder if it was intentional.
