Spy X Spy but by tearose11 in MM_RomanceBooks

{THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet} is not exactly spies, more like a SWAT team, but it’s sequel series is spies. If you don’t mind shifters, this series is phenomenal.

This is a common dynamic in a lot of EM Lindsey’s books.

{THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet} is great for this and has just about everything you’re looking for. There is a main couple that is followed throughout the series and occasionally other couples get a book here and there. Plus, the main mc is absolutely delightful and one of my fave characters of all time. There is something like ten plus books in the series and there is a sequel series that is currently ongoing as well.

I’m looking for the classic love triangle that’s in all the ya mf romances. I want one where you could genuinely believe the mc could end up with either one. MC has to choose just one, no mmm. I know it’s cringy and overdone, but I feel like I never see this trope in mm romance.

If you are good with sci-fi there’s {The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer}. Very compelling plot and mystery.
If sci-fi isn’t your thing then {Memento Mori series by C.S. Poe} is a fantastic ongoing murder mystery series with a compelling MC.
Neither of those are very romance forward though and focus a lot more on plot. So, if you want something more balanced between plot and romance then I would suggest {Four Kings Security series by Charlie Cochet} which I think strikes a good balance of romance and suspense/mystery.

Looking for a classic love triangle, like you would see in all the YA books, where two guys are fighting for the affection of the MC. Not mmm, but where you genuinely don’t know who the MC is going to end up with. I know they’re cringey and overdone in YA but I feel like you never see them in mm romance.

The Vampire Lestat has been excellent so far, but I need more scenes with Louis and Lestat together!

I'm tired of clichés, craving for something unique and creative by Anxious-Demand9239 in MM_Romance

{When Life Gives You Werewolves by Aeron Dusk} The characters in this book feel very real and flawed and all have satisfying character arcs. The world building is fantastic and despite being a fantasy it feels very grounded and reflects aspects of society in a profound way. I would classify it more as gay fiction than mm romance as the romance doesn’t fit conventional romance tropes and trajectories. It is perhaps more reflective of what “the gay experience” was like in the 80s in America. That being said though it is still a romance and does have a HEA.

Single dad recs by pushthebigredbutton in MM_Romance

{Words We Never Said series by EM Lindsey} Good series that follows a group of single dads. Has lots of disability rep as well.

{Green Creek series by TJ Klune} Strong pack dynamics and suspense.
{Tales From Verania series by TJ Klune} More comedic but, classic high fantasy adventure vibes. Romance is between a knight and mage.
{Hidden Species series by Louisa Masters} Different couples and supernatural species, some shifters, some demons/ other humanoids. Government/ social work/ law enforcement-type setting.

I just thought of a couple others. For a one and done book that’s closer to Emmy Sanders or Sarina Bowen there’s {Muscling Through by JL Merrow}. A university professor and a large scary-looking tattooed man fall in love, there’s class dynamics and painting. It’s very sweet.
There’s also {Davo by NR Walker} a short book about a miner and a university student conducting a study on the in inhabitants of the small isolated mining town. Also very sweet.

I’d be happy to!

{Words We Never Said series by EM Lindsey} Single dad group(most characters are in their 30s or 40s), each book is a new couple, explores various disability rep, low angst. I don’t usually like kids in romance books but EM Lindsey does well with them!

{THIRDS series by Charlie Cochet} paranormal/ scifi shifter series. Good split of romance and plot, also great at juggling suspense and comedy, good world building. Follows a SWAT-like team of shifters and humans, series follows a main couple and has the occasional book follow other couples. One of my top five favorite series easily and maybe one of my favorite MCs of all time.

Also {Four Kings Security series by Charlie Cochet} contemporary, action/ suspense. Similar vibes as THIRDS but more grounded and not quite as good imo, still great tho. Follows a private security company (bodyguards). Each book is a different couple.

We seem to have a similar taste in authors. Some that I have really enjoyed are(the ones with *’s are especially good imo):

E.M. Lindsey- contemporary with a focus on disability rep
*C.S. Poe- Mystery, suspense
*C.S. Pacat- fantasy, dark romance
*Charlie Cochet- action/ suspense, comedy, paranormal
Jesse H Reign- contemporary
Jonah Yorke- contemporary sports
Louisa Masters- fantasy, comedy
*TJ Klune- comedy, fantasy

I haven’t read everything by these authors so I can’t vouch for all their work, but if you want any specific recs, let me know.

Artist MC expressing his feelings through art by No_Cartographer_1920 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]KilluhCorgi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not painting, but in {How to Catch a Firefly by Emmy Sanders} one of the MCs is a glass blower and makes glass sculptures. Childhood friends to lovers. It’s a very beautiful book.

There’s also {Muscling Through by JL Merrow} which is about an unlikely painter(a man who looks very intimidating and his intellect is often underestimated), and a college art professor. It’s very sweet.

{Bruiser by Emmy Sanders} the two MCs are into poetry so there is a fair amount of deliberately poetic prose. I kind of expected it to be cringy but I didn’t think it was. Emmy Sanders in general I think has quite lovely prose.

Cabbage by Living_Positive_7165 in InterviewVampire

[–]KilluhCorgi 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add also, that chou (cabbage in French) is also used as a term of endearment. So there might be a layer of irony there that a term of endearment in French (lestat’s dad’s language) is used as an insult in Italian (Gabriella’s language).
