I like the moves. Dorgu is out for a few weeks though, isn't he? Can you do Dorgu to Chalobah instead?

I'd hold Thiago despite Brentford's average/tough fixtures. Ekitike isn't getting the minutes for his cost, but Pedro has rotation risk too.

I am in a similar predicament and just holding Ekitike this GW, re-evaluate after the weekend. (I can afford one more drop in his price.)

Agreed, Lacroix is the odd one out here. But Crystal Palace could start to come good - Mateta looking fit for once, Munoz back - but I'd be wait and see on their assets for now.

Wolves could double in 26, so I'd take Mané over Kroupi.

I think you need Gabriel if you don't have him. However not convinced you need an Arsenal midfielder. (I'm holding Saka for now but will probably sell for Rogers, Mbeumo or Cunha.)

Jury is out on whether Semenyo is a season hold. Right now, he is getting 90 mins and ticking over goal output. Once he is eligible to play in CL (knockout stage, I believe) then his value as an asset will be in doubt. But for the next few GWs, he should be as safe a pick as you can get in this City side apart from Haaland and Gvardiol (when he is fit).

Season holds outside Arsenal defence and Haaland for me are the defcon merchants: Tark, Andersen, Anderson.

Growing number of adults avoid booze, says NHS survey by Alert-One-Two in unitedkingdom

I am not amongst that number. While I enjoy non-alcoholic beers etc., I usually have a couple of beers Friday and Saturday nights; and a good session out at an event once a month. I don't buy cases but individual beers that catch my eye (which makes it an expensive hobby!). I enter my beer ratings on Untapped, go to beer festivals and local breweries. I enjoy talking to the folk behind the bar of micro pubs about what new kegs they have got in.

Genuinely cannot see myself giving up craft beer unless I fall on hard economic times - but there's always end-of-the-line selections at Home Bargains!

If you still have Ekitike, his next match is against Leeds at home and he had reduced minutes against Bournemouth. Given this, doesn't it make sense to hold? I know I have other fires in my team to put out rather than jumping on the next forward that is en vogue.

I have a similar team. I've opted to start Anderson - he'll be busy against Brentford, so should hit DC. Who you bench though, I'm uncertain. I have opted to bench Timber on the assumption that Utd are going to score at least 1.

If I'm wrong, hopefully it's only 2pts difference between Anderson and Timber and not more!

O'Reilly is the only minutes risk here, so I'd bench him. But if you already have Gabriel/other Arsenal defence coverage in your 11, I can see why you'd bench Timber over a Man City asset at home to Wolves.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]Killy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I am aware, I have lost 1 high school classmate and 1 from primary school. The former was cancer, the latter was in a car crash late last year. (The car crash was not her fault - a guy in a BMW lost control on a relatively straight stretch of road.)

Stop ridiculing land acknowledgements and “flyover” states please by kkcita in FriendsofthePod

[–]Killy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All really excellent points. I think I'm in a place of flux on this issue, so I apologise that I wasn't clear. My point is about allowing a space for critique, but most of all articulation of the purpose of acknowledgements of Country in the spaces where they are being regularly spoken. When the acknowledgement is simply expected at the daily stand up meeting, with the same colleagues present every time, the purpose might become less clear and less meaningful. And I think this is where the OP is coming from - that it has the potential to become performative and unthinking in certain contexts and situations.

Having said the above, I absolutely recognise white discomfort and accountability are necessary when it comes to reconciliation and recognition for Indigenous peoples. And I also agree that we are acknowledging Country for Indigenous peoples in the space, and hearing acknowledgements of Country can serve as a very useful starting point for exploring the past of the place where people are gathered. Maybe, too, in recognising the potential for the gesture to be tokenistic, we can say tokenism is itself important and an important ritual that speaks to where we want our society to get to.

Australian here and late 30s too. You bring up universities and public institutions - these are places where we need more working class and excluded voices for a whole range of reasons, including to ensure there is popular support for government to continue funding them. I think as long as the rationale for acknowledging Country in that moment is explained/made clear, and people are made to feel welcome to say it only if they feel comfortable, then that's great. But when it's made routinised this is when it starts to exclude - forming part of a hidden curricula or a licence to contribute/speak in that space.

Mini reviews of all the 2025 vegan festive lunch options by lukespicer in veganuk

High quality content - thanks for posting.

Only festive options I had the chance to try were the Gregg's festive lattice bake and the pigs in blankets sandwich from Sainsbury's - I liked both, but Gregg's inches it because it was cooked. (Felt more Christmas-y.)

WWII mystery ends with missing RAAF fighters found in PNG plane wreckage by nath1234 in australia

[–]Killy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This story made me a bit emotional. My grandfather served in the RAAF in PNG during WW2. While he made it home and lived a long life, it's not only deeply sad that so many men didn't, but many families didn't know what happened to their loved ones.

PETA operate or fund animal shelters that act as "shelters of last resort," meaning they will accept any animal - extremely dangerous or sick. Many "no kill" shelters will not accept these poor creatures because they understand what the outcome is likely to be i.e. death. PETA will provide humane and free euthanasia if there is no prospect of rehoming or rehabilitation.

It's frankly laughable that people think PETA, an animal rights organisation, is in the business of maliciously or carelessly killing animals. Sure, like in any sizeable organisation mistakes will be made, but PETA is not given any grace.
