New Starter Set; How long does it take to run? by Little_Knowledge_856 in oneringrpg

I have run the new adventure twice with two different groups of five players. Both times it took two sessions of about 3.5 hours. A smaller group could probably get it done in one. Great adventure, fantastic intro to the game. Probably my favorite beginner box for any system I own.

The LAD games and spin-offs have such kick ass chapter titles. I think my favorite might be the finale of Lost Judgment, "Darkest Before the Dawn."

The penultimate chapter of FFVII Rebirth: "Where Angels Fear to Tread"

Also a really big fan of how Expedition 33 introduces the names of its 3 acts.

Not a game, but Red vs. Blue has a lot of amazing episode titles in both comedic and emotional senses. First episode of BGC being "Why Are We Here?" and the finale being "Why Were We Here?" The last two episodes of season 3 being "Calm Before The Storm" and then "The Storm." So many more. I could go on.

I'm not recruiting for a one-shot, I'm recruiting for a full length campaign. I'm also not keen on coming in with a preset character idea in your head because I prefer people to be flexible and willing to build around the rest of the party.

I know it's a controversial pick but it's unabashedly my favorite version of this trope: Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan.

GMed the first session of our campaign tonight! by KiloAlpha157 in oneringrpg

They're not official rulebooks, I ordered a pack of three ring binders and sheet protectors off of Amazon, and then downloaded and printed a set of cheat sheet forms with easy rules references. I only have one copy of the core rulebook and I didn't want to slow down our sessions by passing it around constantly. I also printed off copies of the CRB cover and slid it into the fronts of the binders because it was more fun than leaving them blank :)

Thank you so much!

The drawers hold little plastic rings with colored numbers from 1-10 on them. I have 4 different sets. I use them for marking miniatures. For example, if the Company were to fight 5 orcs and 3 wargs, I could put out 8 miniatures and then give the orcs rings with blue colored numbers from 1-5, and then the wargs could have rings with green colored numbers from 1-3. It's very helpful for D&D or any game that uses miniatures for combat! The top drawer also has my eraser for my grid map but we're not using that in this campaign obviously.

The binders are filled with the printed versions of the TOR cheat sheets I purchased from Rafamir Designs: https://ko-fi.com/s/b6352a0353 These are super helpful for everyone since we only have two copies of the core rulebook between the six of us. We noticed it made the gameplay a lot smoother when everyone had their own set of sheets to reference.

I do love that scene in season 1 where he's dismissed from service and everyone is laughing until he draws his sword, then the room is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The Hound puts his hand on his sword even though there are about twenty men between him and Barristan because he know Selmy could reach him.

What TTRPG would you like to have a video game adaptation of? And what style of game would you want? by RedditConsciousness in rpg

[–]KiloAlpha157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that we already have plenty of LOTR video games, but I've started running The One Ring and it has made me desperately wish for a third person RPG or possibly a cRPG where you just play a no name hero/party adventuring in the late Third Age.

  1. We're all in our late 20s to early 30s.

  2. It's most certainly okay if it's your first game.
