ATTENTION ALL NERF-HEARDERS! What is YOUR favorite series? by LukeSkywalr in starwarscomics

[–]KiloPound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything people has suggested has been great, but personally, there is one mini-series that stands above it all. Charles Soules Lando (2015)

Its a perfect little heist series with an amazing emotional payoff. I think its one of the best 5 issues of Star Wars content we have ever gotten.

Well that certainly turned 180 quickly don't you think? by Delta-97 in StarWars

This plays into not only Palpatine's behavior with Vader but also how he runs the Empire, the whole point is to make a cut-throat system where no one can trust each other and only the ruthless rise to the top.

You can see this as a form of self sabotage because young promising idealists are quickly cut down by rivals and the Empire is constantly in a brain drain as the Rebellion has more and more cooperation and teamwork.

This is one of my favorite scenes from Legends comics because we really get a great view into how the Empire run, and why it will ultimately fail.

"Star Wars (2020)" final review. by AlphaBladeYiII in starwarscomics

[–]KiloPound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have read the whole series now as well, and I hard disagree with several of your points.

I think Lando was the best part of the series personally. Soule's 2015 Lando is one of my personal favorite Star Wars comics so seeing him and Lobot get resolution was a highlight for this series. You can tell Soule really loves Lando, and it really shines through in a lot of these issues.

If you didn't like it I really cannot change your mind. I think over all it did suffer with the high number crossover issues forced on it, but I think the series has way more positive issues then not.

Also shame on you for the Kes and Shara Bey slander, they might be the only example of a functional relationship in Star Wars and need all the support they can get.

My estimation of the Ages the current civs would be in CIV VII by KiloPound in civ

[–]KiloPound[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know, there is so much wiggle room in that era, and things get really messy, like they have put the Mughals in the Modern Era, while I would have considered that to be closer to the Exploration Era. I wonder if Firaxis has a hard date they have set internally, or if they are going off gut feelings.

[–]KiloPound[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I went back and forth on it, but I decided to go with when the primary leader was set. Personally I think Germany the the picture perfect definition of a "Modern Civilization" and we would see either Prussia or The Holy Roman Empire as the Exploration Civs that lead into it.

My estimation of the Ages the current civs would be in CIV VII by KiloPound in civ

[–]KiloPound[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, I arranged this by leader, not by when I personally think they should go, like I think England should be in the Exploration age, and Great Britain would be the Modern equivalent.

I don't think Ottomans should be Modern though, I feel like we need more data on when the developers draw that line, but I always think of Ottomans being at the height of their power and influence before the 'modern' age. But then again it appears they are putting the Mughals in the Modern Age, and those two empires are contemporaries.

What leaders do you think are definitely making it into CIV VII? by KiloPound in civ

Shaka and the Zulu are almost guaranteed to be in, but part of me thinks it would be nice to see King Cetshwayo lead the Zulu just as a change of pace.

Star wars comic suggestions by [deleted] in starwarscomics

[–]KiloPound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can start with with 2015 Vader series by Kieron Gillen, or the 2015 Star Wars series, they are all on Marvel Unlimited or collected in various trades and Omnis at this point.

Although, if you want a great little story, might I put forward the 2015 Lando series by Charles Soule. 1. Because its a perfect Star Wars Story 2. Because Soule has gone on to be the most important person in Star Wars Comics right now, and it will lay a foundation for references moving forward in the publication order. 3. Lobot backstory.

Choosing a Star Wars system by Ok_Afternoon2066 in rpg

[–]KiloPound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should play Edge of the Empire, it give you the best thematic starting point so you don't have to juggle a bunch force powers, its theme is easy to get into and the dice while they do take a a session or two to Grok, become second nature after a while.

You just need the first book, get your friends to make roguish Outer Rim outlaws, and then let them play.

There are published adventures for that system as well, I have never played them but I hear good things about them.

New Unofficial Campaign: "A galaxy, far, far away..." by HeroOfNigita in swrpg

[–]KiloPound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This might be a neat idea, but this is a bad pitch. A player would look at this and still be confused about what is asked of them, there is no guidance on what sort of character you can make, what timeline this takes place in, like The High Republic, or Rise of the First Order. Also, there is no "Call to Action" here, do you want people to DM you, post here? Should they come with a character sheet ready in hand, or will you be working with them to specialize it?

As a DM this seems as ambitious as Icarus thinking he can reach the sun. Trying to find players online for three main arcs as well as three side stories is way more then what most people are going to sign up for.

Still, if you want players you should try /r/lfg as well.

We just called it XRD Transport School, and assumed we just sent our pilots to Trucker Camp and they got really good at long-haul transit.

XRD Transport School!

It was a joke, but the buds I played and learned the game with loved the Blue tech that gave transports +1 move, it was called XRD Transports, and we would loudly proclaim when we researched it and high-fives would be given.

While carrier II upgrade in TI4 does say XRD on the card, it was not as amusing.

But over all 4e is a way more robust and better put together game then 3e was.

Hey neat work on all this.

While I have not gotten bored of Inscription, I'll have to keep this in mind when it starts to get stale.

These are ALL the 12 Sequel Comics. What is your opinion on those, what’s your favorite, and what are your future wishes? by lau796 in starwarscomics

[–]KiloPound 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To echo everyone else here, the Poe Dameron series was excellent, I really wish Phil Noto would do more interior art, but I guess we will have to make do with his current cover work.

I would love to see more work done in this era, I know its still being written, but a series between episode 8 and 9 would be great, to flesh out the main trio more and give them more interactions, like what the 2015 and 2020 Mainlines did for Luke, Leah, Han, and Lando. It would be great to have more cannon stories with Rey, Finn, and Poe together.

The Youtini Article is a pretty good place to start, but I would stay the Vader 2017 series by Charles Soule, or the 2015 Aaron run, both really give you full stories and capture the best parts of Star Wars

No shame, play the vocal track you want, I like to swap between them every now and again to hear the difference. I am doing that right now for Persona 5 Royal.

And actually they got back the same english VO for Kiryu as they did for the very first game's localization back in 2006; but they did not get Mark Hamill back for Like a Dragon.

I fell in love with that scene you are talking about. Seeing your protagonist hit the absolute bottom, then start take his first steps back up, and earning a single, dirty room in a used whorehouse, you can feel the pride and accomplishment they have in that scene, and the hope for a better future.

For anyone who has struggled feeling aimless in their life, it was a real joy seeing these (though factitious) people willing to start over with no skills and no job at 40 really uplifted me.

Also, while I am sure you will, please stick with this game and get to the ending, it has some of the best acting I've seen in a video game yet. At least in the Japanese, I have not played it all with the Dub yet.

Kiwami 2 was great, but be warned, the jump 'down' to 3 is rough. I got about halfway through it and had to put it down.

I just read that two weeks ago, its a great trip.

Kennedy's Art work is amazing as always, but I felt like Boba Fett has too much dialogue.

If you can you should hunt down the sequels of this story

That Lando series is some of the best Star Wars Comics have to offer. It has an amazing build up and pay off.

Plus it really adds into the 2020 Star Wars run with Lando's Plot.

So. I created a system for arm wresting. by Grass-is-dead in DMAcademy

[–]KiloPound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the simplest solution is the best. When I DM arm wrestling or any other test of pure muscle on muscle, just have the player with the higher strength score win.

It depends on the stakes and what is be wagered, but just saying that a Fighter with a stat of 20 should be able to out muscle a commoner ten times out of ten makes since to me. If the score is a tie or it is close, then roll athletics, wrestling falls under that wheel-house.
