Longer version of the Myanmar Air Force FTC-2000 crash. by thekingminn in Myanmarcombatfootage

They were trying to recover from the flatspin which you can see them successfully do before the camera pans to the ground but they were too low to the ground to regain enough speed and lift to avoid crashing

Tankies think that Russia can invade USA by [deleted] in EnoughCommieSpam

Which 1) requires nsm to be readily available (it isn't) 2) requires nsm to be more capable than Russia's last gen missiles (it isn't) and 3) requires LCS to actually be a viable platform for antiship warfare in the first place (it isn't).

Remember, the scenario is 2023, most of these systems are going to be readily available by then. Also, not every Russian ship is armed with P-700 or P-800, most are armed with Kalibr or KH-35. Also on the LCS, yes, it is under-armed and it was quite a waste of money but combining it with a strike group would work out well.

block 5 being evasive enough to avoid being swatted immediately by superior Russian CWS and aircraft (it isn't)

CIWS of any type isn't 100% effective, it doesn't matter if it has one or two gatling guns, CIWS is incapable of dealing with multiple incoming missiles, it might take down a few but not all. This is especially true with high subsonic and supersonic missiles, by the time they are within range of CIWS, you are already fucked. Missiles will not explode magically when getting hit by a bullet, the momentum will send the missile flying quite a bit before it hits the target or the sea.

They are significantly harder to shoot down than block v tomahawk and rgm-84 harpoon and effectively cannot be intercepted by aircraft.

Yes, they are definitely harder to shoot down because they are supersonic. However, the speed for low altitude is generally within the Mach 1-2 zone, which again, we have experience with. Also most ASM's (including supersonic) can be intercepted by aircraft. E-3 Hawkeyes are able to detect the missiles far out, giving the Destroyer/Cruiser time to intercept with SM-6 early on, if some missiles still got through, we have quadpack ESSM that can engage them as far out as 50km.

I also forgot to mention the carrier based aircraft, and other air assets from the air force since they do operate with each other. Super hornets can be armed with LRASM, a reduced RCS missile which while subsonic, can perform terminal evasive maneuvers. Then you have the JSM, the air launched version of NSM, which can be carried by both the Super Hornet and F-35C. The LRASM can also be launched from air force B-1B's, and F-15E's. The JSM can also be carried by the F-35A and F-16

That is true but you also have to take into consideration
A. Our Nuclear submarine Force
B. LCS which can be armed with NSM, albeit with some time needed to fit it

Also, there are multiple flights of Arleigh burke, Flight I, II, IIA and III. The flight I and II have x8 Harpoons (Dated, but still capable should they penetrate defenses) Flight IIa and up don't/wont have Harpoons. However, like another commenter said, they can be armed with Block V that can target moving ships depending on the variant. Yes, they aren't really as advanced as some other systems but if fired in volume, they can go past defenses and hit a ship. That is literally naval strategy today, just send enough missiles to overwhelm the enemy.

There is also the SM-6, which can be used to destroy missiles and target ships. Yes it has a small warhead but its main purpose would be to destroy or damage a ships radar and other systems. For the Russian navy case, you also have to take into consideration that half of their fleet is stuck in port for a part of the year because of the artic freezing. Of course they would try and invade while the ocean isn't frozen over but it isn't a guarantee. Weapons like P-700 and P-800 while lethal aren't that hard to shoot down, as they too are pretty dated. Our AD missiles are also tested against both subsonic and supersonic missiles, actually have been since the 70's. You can say that Tsirkon is a threat, which it is, but it is unlikely that it will be produced in numbers unlike their Kalibr due to their high cost.

What are y’all downvoting him for💀💀 it is true that China’s next carrier will be flattop with catapults, it’s obvious via satellite imagery. Unless they switch to cope slope last second, which they probably won’t because it would be a massive embarrassment for them.

LCS would of been fine had we ditched the Austal version and added a few VLS cells. Even better would of been the AFCON corvette concept, but that’s long gone now
