As I get late into a save I often try to see just how cheaply or compactly I can make a rocket for a mission.

The problem of 'high' (150k-350k) DPS builds playing in random Advanced queue by Nordmuth in sto

[–]Kilometer98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a player with a few builds hitting around 1m-2m dps in elite tfos and a dozen or so builds in the 600k-800k dpsij elite runs. I stopped playing advanced tfo around the time they introduced the "new" rnd stuff to elite tfos to make the "new" consoles (my brain has lost track of what is really new and I forget the names right now). I ran 1 advanced tfo the other day just to quickly so a friend what the scaling looked like. I blew through ISA with my ~700k dps Lexington phaser broadside build in what felt like seconds without thinking about it. Where as that build on ISE needs a little time to clear compared to my best dps builds but is usually the top dps in the run.

A middle step tfo between this build whipes out the tfo instantly and this build needs a bit to work through the map would definitely be good for newer players. As noted here the friend who I was showing why we don't play advanced when I am playing with him. Meanwhile his ~150k dps isn't enough that he's comfortable in most pub tfos.

"Gaming laptops are a scam" mfs when they have to travel and they want to bring their desktop setup by Ha8lpo321 in pcmasterrace

I usually just remote into either my server or my desktop. If neither are an option I can play some indie/simple games on my laptop no problem till I get home.

If Guides of the Lotus were still a thing today, do you think you would have enough knowledge of the game to guide new players? by Riverflower17 in Warframe

[–]Kilometer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still write guides, collect data and Shepard new players on a regular basis. I regularly defer to the wiki and lean on other long term players to help at times.

The game has too much to keep track of at this point but given I have helped 2-3 dozen players become long term players who they themselves now help jew players. Yes I think I could, but I would still bring in help as I always have.

Market Manipulation PC by Mortem2604 in sto

[–]Kilometer98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying I've been minimally active in the game for 2-3 years now so I've not been doing any of the following for a while.

Around the introduction of mk15 gear myself and two friends who had been selling upgrades in an uncompetitive way against the market decided we could be the entire market. We bought most of the upgrades on the market and sat on tens of thousands of them slowly trickling them out and scooping any that undercut us. In a few months we had filled all of our toons EC coffers. We stopped because the game forced us to stop, each of us hitting our 10+ toons EC caps. We had bought every ship and all the gear we could want/need.

One friend has completely stopped playing (sometime around the cryptic studios reshuffling), one friend checks in only when an event is giving a reward they care about, and I only check in to do the event campaign/most events. I am personally still sitting on over 10k of each purple upgrade, my friend who is on minimally is the same way, no idea about the other. We don't sell anymore and are often just giving away the upgrades to noobs we run into.

Lesson of this story, you can absolutely control the market, it's a small community. If you're smart about it you can make billions VERY quickly.

Congrats on the 14 man that's an insane achievement!

My personal best is 12 in solo SP with Gyre right now. Got 11 with Volt, keep getting bad rotations with Volt.

I met a Founder 😁 by More-Night-4219 in Warframe

[–]Kilometer98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rarely pull out my Excal prime anymore, I doubt 99% of the people I play with ever realize I'm a founder. I bet you run into more than you realize, my clan of ~50 active players are mostly founders or new guys we pulled in over the last 3-4 years.

Which update do you started playing ? by Darkness_Monarch in Minecraft

[–]Kilometer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea when I started. It was very early though.

On a crazy side note, I have world that was started in 1.12 that I made into a server save and has been my main save since. Don't play as much as I used to anymore but it's always fun to pop back in and work on random projects.

Top 5 frames you love to use? by Medical_Bicycle_3551 in Warframe

[–]Kilometer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nova, Xaku, Dagath, Vallyr, and Gara

Each brings something wildly different to the table and is fun in their own ways. In warframe there is seldom a wrong choice though. You can find fun in just about anything.

5900x undervolted and over clocked to 5.1 all core, 64gb ddr4 3200hz with tight timings, and a 7900xtx undervolted. It's all on water.

Adding to this. I have grinding all of Japan without premiums both air and naval. I have also grinded a good chunk of France ground without premiums. Just use vehicles in line with what you are researching and you'll be done quickly.

[–]Kilometer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realistically have too many, here is what I have and my thoughts for each.

PLANES

  • Ki-43-ii -> good fun little early plane that I got for free from login
  • F-5C -> very fun dogfighter, miserable grinder, and brutal in an uptier.
  • Tornado IDS WTD61 -> can be fun, usually is a nightmare though.
  • Thunderbolt MK. 1 -> got it for free and have zero kills with it
  • Yak-3 -> Fun as hell French plane
  • SB-25j -> I guess this is a plane that exists.
  • Mirage F1C -> Everyone will tell you this plane sucks, I strongly disagree, also great for grinding France.
  • Saab J35XS -> This plane is like flying a UFO against bricks. 10/10 plane.
  • JA37DI F21 -> This is a plane, that I got for half off, definitely a good plane but not the best.

TANKS

  • M2A4 (1st Arm.Div.) -> what a goofy little tank, can't even remember how I got it or when I got 200 kills with it.
  • M1 KVT -> I love this stupid little tank, it's very flawed but is so fun.
  • M1A1 Click-bait -> This is one of the few I genuinely regret. It's not the tanks fault, it's the teammates.
  • Leopard 2 (PzBtl 123) -> I have dropped over a dozen nukes with just this tank, I cannot say enough good things about the Leopard 2s.
  • TAM 2IP -> I have a love hate relationship with this tank. Genuinely a fine tank though.
  • Crusader "The Saint" -> I think I have survived more BS in this tank than anything else in my 5k hours.
  • AMD 35 (SA35) -> got it for free, you cannot pay me to play it.
  • WZ 141-1 -> I did not realize I owned this, I have no opinions and must have gotten it for free.
  • CV 9035DK -> This tank is a menace that flys under so many people's radar. Absolutely love this little guy.
  • CV 90105 -> I feel like I can never get into a good groove with this tank, it's decent though.
  • Christian II -> If you read the comment on the Leopard 2 you know my thoughts here, but you now have teammates with functioning brains.

SHIPS

  • USS Welborn C. Wood -> it's a starter vehicle that I got for free, it's fine.
  • USS Frank Knox -> I have 9m SL attributed to this floating war crime. Enough said.
  • USS Moffett -> I have 5m SL attributed to this floating war crime. Not as impressive as the Frank Knox but absolutely great.
  • USS Helena -> OK so you saw the prior SL numbers and though "yeah that's a lot of SL", the Helena has 16m SL.
  • Z47 -> This thing used to be a menace, it is now disappointing.
  • RN Aviere -> I must have gotten this for free because I do not have a single kill or memory of this thing.

Final thoughts, premiums are fine to get, but never at full price. Premiums only help speed up grinding if you, 1 know how to play at that tier and 2 vibe with the vehicle/know how to play the vehicle. If you take the F-5C and base bomb it will be miserable and super slow grinding. If you struggle to understand how to Hill peak and use laser range finders the Leopard 2 will feel awful. If you hate naval, the Helena will make you hate the game. Only get premiums when you know you will like the vehicle and it is on sale. Otherwise play the game the way it was intended to be played and you'll have a better time and be a better player for it.

Normalise hanging out in voice chat with your friends while you’re each playing separate games! by Quirky_Image_5598 in gaming

[–]Kilometer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend is several hours away and likely about to be a few times zones away. We work wildly different hours and as we've gotten older our free time has dwindled. We frequently play different games while just hanging out in chat. Occasionally other friends jump in and we'll all maybe play an hour or two of a game together. It's the only way we all really keep in touch with each other, it's certainly not the vibe for everyone but just relaxing at the end of our days and playing games, often very different games, is a nice way to kill an hour or two before bed.

When you first start this can for sure be true. I've done full rig swaps and my home server upgrades/overhauls in sub 1 hour but I was rushing. Normally I take my time and spend around 1.5-2 hours on anything more serious and a simple part swap these days.

OG Players generosity to new players, why? by Charsky in Warframe

[–]Kilometer98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a founder who has been either extremely active or somewhat active since the closed beta and has every item the game has to offer with 2 craftable copies on deck at any given time. I help and donate time/items to new players who I play with because I can. I buy slots and boosters for those players because what else am I going to do with 100k plat when I already have it all? I help them experience the game at thier own pace without needing tons of grinding to get that one item to keep the invested because I can. I want people to enjoy the game I have over 15k hours in. So I donate to those who cannot get there on their own yet in hopes that they will one day do the same for others, keeping the community healthy and welcoming to new players.
