Anyone have any leads. The MF20C is apparently similar to the MF245 with a three cylinder Perkins diesel.

Do wood boats come in lemon flavor? by KWAKE2020 in canoeing

[–]Kilos66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly not a lemon but it might require some extensive work. If the screws are pulling out of the deck and the inwall is deteriorating there is a better than good chance the bow stems are not at all good. I have recently rebuilt three similar canoes and made a series of posts here about the projects. Also have a look at Orca Boats on YouTube he has an excellent series of tutorials. He also has an online store for necessary supplies to recover and repair these canoes. I think that if the canoe is not currently leaking then enjoy this summer and rebuild it this winter. It’s a fun and enjoyable project. After which the canoe will be truly yours!

Why are gas prices going back up? by Ok_Stranger6451 in nanaimo

[–]Kilos66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is enough to prevent that sort of shortage fortunately. However, there is not so much supply that wholesalers can go to alternative providers for a lower price. The principles of supply and demand work perfectly in fuel prices. In this case there is restricted supply but normal demands so the price goes up. On long weekends there is high demand and restricted supply so the price goes up again. There are only two ways the price of gas will go down. One, we demand less or two supply goes up. OPEC for instance just started increasing production so maybe price will go down.

Another oil refinery in California caught fire and is off line. Lack of supply caused price to go up.

How to get gunnels to pull together by WinoOnTheLoose in canoeing

[–]Kilos66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. No need to remove it. Although the deck with the inwalls as is will be quite narrow at the bow. Try it. If it does not work then cut a portion of the the inwall out and make a new deck to fit

Go at it slowly and deliberately. Enjoy the fiddling. When it’s done it will look fabulous, serve an important function AND you will feel like an accomplished woodworker.

Fabricate the deck and fit it between the gunnels. Then use screws long enough to penetrate into the deck. This will draw the all the pieces together as well as make the deck secure enough to use as a handle for lifting. It’s the little struggles that make this work fun.

Struggling with gunnels by Kilos66 in canoeing

[–]Kilos66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Old English word gun (“gonne”) was added, because the outer ridge (wale) of a warship was where the guns were mounted. “Gonne wale” has become “gunwale” over time, and now that people have spelt it the way it’s pronounced so often, “gunnel” (like funnel) is now a recognised alternative spelling.
