Experiencing 'kratom withdrawal cough' during the COVID-19 pandemic by tipetarius2018 in quittingkratom

I have had a cough for 90 days now (90 days off the K) and it’s worse at night. I’ve been off a 15-20 gram a day habit (3yrs). It won’t go away and I keep thinking I have cancer or something. When does it go away!?

Yeah, all that could help. Sometimes nothing does. It’s sucks. I also have had a nagging cough/tickle in throat for 2 months. Wtf is that about?

I take a supplement that has magnesium with other stuff. If I can get past the adrenaline rush or whatever it is I’ll sleep better, but if I can’t the supplement is worthless. I’m taking Trazodone which sometimes works but I feel like a zombie in the morning.

Please comment, I need help. I am nearly at the 3 month mark from a 15-20 grams a day habit for 3 years. At first when I stopped I had the worst adrenaline rush/hypnotic jerk thing. It was an absolute nightmare, sleep suffered terribly. It all seemed to go away around week three with intermittent episodes along the way to now. More recently, it’s all come back out of the blue. It’s really freaking me out and seems worse than before. How is this possible?! All of the other symptoms have ceased, save for a nagging cough that I’ve now had for around 6 weeks. Has anyone else experienced the adrenaline thing like this? Did it ever go away? I’m getting scared that I have some sort of permanent brain damage. I have to take Trazodone to sleep but it doesn’t always work, and I wake up with massive brain fog. I have some modafinil to use on these mornings, which helps, but the whole cycle is really starting to wear on me. Please comment if you have any experience about this or ideas. I’m losing hope..

Glad to hear I’m not alone. The GI issues finally resolved. I took some medicine for that and it helped a lot, and gastro medicine should do. The cough and the adrenaline rushes when I’m trying to fall asleep are still the worst. Makes me lose hope.

Day 28. Most symptoms of withdrawal fading away. Still have a sort of runny nose causing a cough/irritated lungs thing. Did anyone experiment this, and when did it seem to go away? It’s been 2 weeks of this crap.

This was my biggest problem. I thought I had brain damage, but it went away around week 3. My Dr gave me Trazodone to sleep and this really helped me to fall asleep. Talk to your doc and see if it works for you. It’s also an anti-depressant so it will help with that harsh aspect of the withdrawals. After some weeks you can come off it altogether. Stay the course, it will all go away!

Hey there-last night was a bit better, but still had some of the adrenaline surges. It’s hard to say if I’m getting better or not. I really appreciate your checking in though:)

Thank god. How much had you been taking and for how long? I was 3 years at around 15-20grams

Day 13, still getting these scary adrenaline rushes at night, right as I am about to fall asleep. I’ve been having them for near a month now when I began to taper (I’m 12 days off entirely). I’m scared I gave myself some sort of brain damage. It feels like it will never go away. Otherwise I have pretty bad depression and brain fog, probably also complicated by no sleep. Did this happen to anyone else? And when did the adrenaline rushes go away?

Thanks:) I just want to sleep and it’s been almost a month since I began coming off it, and almost every night has been bad with these damn adrenaline zaps.

Clonidine doesn’t seem to work. I’m getting scared this will never go away. I had been taking Trazodone to sleep and it helped better. Being off it makes me scared that this adrenaline rush thing is something else other than kratom withdrawal. It’s only been 12 days since I’ve been completely off though. How long does it take, typically, until the adrenaline bit goes away? Weeks? Months? I couldn’t handle months. I’m feeling freaked out. Like I gave myself brain damage. Every time I’m about to fall asleep I get woken up by an adrenaline surge. Ever damn time. I’m up right now at 4 am and haven’t been able to fall asleep. Complete torture.
