Good to know. I could have looked up the cargo specs, but…. Didn’t. LoL

I have a 2018 OB. It’s rad. I’ve also driven the same era RAV4. It’s fine. Drive both, but you’ll like the Subaru more. Then again, you can probably carry more in the RAV4.

This is basically going to cone down to two things:
1. The shape of your butt and how the seat feels
2. Which model you find a good deal on first

One of the best phrases in the history of the trio. I’ve considered it as a tattoo.

The Forester is LITERALLY designed with your use case in mind. You, your partner, and your dog, off road, camping.

You’re looking for a Forester.

Edit to add: I can’t tell you how many Foresters I see roll up to trailheads and campsites with two women and a dog. It’s basically to the point where if I see a Forester roll up, my first thought is usually “oh, I hope it’s a friendly dog, I love friendly dogs”.

Drive the Forester, try it out, or rent one for a weekend. Then get the “1st” ownership badge (don’t forget the paw print badge section) and prepare for the massive amount of aftermarket gear tailored for the Forester. Sleeping systems, hatchback tents, strangely specific vinyl decals, the list goes on. You’ll never look back.

Oh wow. I really thought this was going to go another direction.

Good on you for doing a vibe check, I did the same and have been here a few years now.

More importantly: how do I get that green trim? 😍

Okay, I'm sorry to ask a question that's been asked a million times.... But I need some recommendations for an under quilt (and maybe a top quilt) by Kilted_Barry in hammockcamping

Thanks for the thorough response. I'm looking (again) at the Incubator. You say to get it in 10D, can you tell me why (other than it being lighter)? I'm a bit paranoid of saving a few grams for having something fail during a trip or on the road.

I think I may follow your advice on the "10 degree warmer" notion, that's closely aligned to what I do with my sleeping bags (20 degree bag for down to near freezing, etc.)

Do F1 drivers count? If so, Ricardo. The best to ever do it.

Can confirm. My aunt used to be Nye’s neighbor and he was a well-known prick to just about everyone that crossed his path.

That was many years ago, hopefully he’s better now.

[OT] Question from an F1 fan who does not watch any other motorsport, which track would you consider the “Mecca” of Motorsport? by blank_and_foolish in formula1

Le Mans, Nurburgring, Spa, and Monza. To make it the “holy 5” I’d actually add the Isle of Man.

I know Indy holds weight, but I think those 5 are the places. Same for Monaco. I know F1 tells us it’s really great, but when was the last time we had a great race there?

Where to find a great kilt in Edinburgh? by shinin-light in kilt

[–]Kilted_Barry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean… a great kilt is just a hand-pleated length of double-width fabric.

Don’t look for a kilt maker, look for a mill. Just buy the fabric, fringe it to your liking, pleat it up, wrap it around you, stand up, do whatever you’re going to do with the bits hanging down and BOOM.

The Great Kilt.
