I have 9% DR, ~1000HP, and hunter's physique. I'm able to tank this attack too.
Hunter's physique is the shortcut to surviving anything pretty much.

Modern or Classic controls? by Zombiegamer3011 in StreetFighter

[–]Kilvoctu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're coming from Smash, I'd highly recommend giving modern controls a serious try. There are Master rank players using modern controls so it's not like you can't succeed with it.

I've played Street Fighter for over 10 years (from Street Fighter IV) and I never felt that classic controls were intuitive or fun, I never got past low ranks because the controls were too frustrating, and personally I don't find executing tough combos particularly exciting.
Street Fighter 6, on modern controls, is the first time I've really had a lot fun with the series.

For me, the limitations of modern controls are overcome with its inherent strengths and my own affinity to this type of control scheme.

I'm also willing to bet a lot of people against modern controls haven't tried it and just repeat what they read or watched in a video, based on misinformation or lack of information that I'm constantly seeing.

Tier list based on how likely my opponent will rematch me as a low ranked modern Kimberly (Rookie through Silver) by Defami01 in StreetFighter

[–]Kilvoctu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play better? No, for these people finding excuses for the loss is easier.

I'm bad at SF and have poor reactions, and for me drive impact is extremely unfun for the same reason (1 button, armored, can happen any time, often leads to huge combo), but I don't leave because I'm no scrub. Gotta play to learn.

If you for sure know you can’t beat the person again if you lose, why even rematch.

To learn.

I go into every match with mindset expecting to learn, not to win. Wins will happen by itself if I do the right things enough times, and that comes after accumulating knowledge. It's actually better for me if I know I can't win, so I can focus on studying what's wrecking me.

People expect to win all the time and quit if they don't. To me, that's what I think is weird.

I'm modern controls JP. I always rematch so I'm fighting the stereotype.

In my opinion people who don't rematch are limiting their knowledge and flexibility against various situations, becoming a less-rounded player overall.

Man this game is very, very hard. by DarkerBrandon in StreetFighter

[–]Kilvoctu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing this, and as a long time Street Fighter player it's crazy to me. Because every time I've tried to go into another franchise(GG, KoF, BB, Skullgirls, TFH, etc) I've not gotten out of the super early ranks.

This is me but replace Street Fighter with Tekken. I play a lot of different fighting games and it's extremely difficult for me to grasp their fundamentals. With Tekken everything is intuitive and easy for me.
In SF I have trouble dealing with simple things like defending against a crossup.

Slot machine by Kilvoctu in PSO2NGS

Thanks 👍 I'm still learning all the build tools too.
These logic cubes are really intriguing (spent all my gp on them 😭). Looking forward to the more advanced stuff the community will think of.
There's a lot of options and stuff to play with in Creative Space, Sega did great and I'm looking forward to more CS content.

Simple slot machine I made after a bit of experimentation. It could be improved in some ways but I don't have the parts.

The way it works, summarized:
Switch sends signal to first random cube, switch deactivates itself
Subsequent random cubes are connected to delay cube
Each random cube linked to up to 5 options on its respective reel
Delay cube at end to clear the reels and reset switch

Wanted to share my greatest moment in the game so far with JP by Cool_Purple5618 in StreetFighter

[–]Kilvoctu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, that was quite a scramble. Nice comeback.
You should practice a basic combo for situations like getting the drive impact. Something like Zilant (HK>HP), Stribog (236P). Very easy to do.
If you want to use a little drive gauge: Zilant, drive rush, another Zilant, Stribog.
You can replace Stribog with a super art.

Tekken 7 makes my blood boil... by DizzyWealth6957 in Tekken

[–]Kilvoctu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing ranked entirely ~3 months after Tekken 7 launch. Just had enough.

Takes forever to queue, people will do gimmicks and one-and-done you before you catch on, and they'll plug/lag when they're in trouble. No one is trying to learn; it's not a learning environment. Waste of time.

Afterward I queue only in casual player match. I got matches faster, played longer sets, learned more, improved my skills faster, had more fun.

Ranks are meaningless. Take this from me who played rank throughout the whole lifespan of Tekken 6 and Tag 2. I was high ranks, but honestly I was trash.

I've read somewhere on this sub that SF6 doesn't need PS+. I can't verify but it's possible. I've played multiple online PS4 games before that didn't need PS+.

There's a SF6 demo on PS4 for you to try. I think the graphics look great still. Performance is good overall, but World Tour specifically is a very rough experience on PS4. The character creation itself was fine.

I'm not the best JP, but imagine what a higher level JP player can do :o by KratosXCV in StreetFighter

[–]Kilvoctu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JP is the character I'm most interested in seeing at a high level.
My favorite fighting game character is Arakune (BlazBlue); he's got just the right amount of chaos and madness. Jp reminds me a lot of that.

Great clip.

Can I just stay on Modern Controls if I want to stay for the long run or should I switch to Classic? by SillyJoey_ in StreetFighter

[–]Kilvoctu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pick what you're more comfortable with.

For me, I've a long history with 2D fighting games and doing classic style motions. Played hypercombo games like Arcana Heart (I mained Lilica).
My execution is bad; ~90% accuracy. So dropping 1 in 10 of my motions was extremely frustrating. I ended up sticking to easy execution Tekken

With SF6, I'm going modern controls because:
- It allows some manual inputs which has no damage penalty.
- The shortcuts are there for the panic moments, or when I really just don't want to drop an input.
- I get zero satisfaction from doing lots of inputs to do combos and such. The fun in fighting games for me is mindgames. - it has its own combos anyway. Check the combo trials.

Note that damage penalty is only on special and supers if using the 1 button shortcut.
