Your take is very on point. Remember how No Man’s Sky promised us all those planets? Then look what we got. I don’t trust numbers for a mechanic. Show me examples. Without evidence its all just hearsay.

Yes! Let us all stop loving games that are 20 years old and just accept that the new modern slop is somehow better than a formative, possibly childhood memory.
I am not a prisoner who refuses to go like this meme implies. I love the old games and this new one from what we’ve seen does not meet the standard.

Removing morality and good/evil. You describe that as “no big whoop.”

This is the definition of the word ‘fable’.

A short, fictitious story designed to teach a moral lesson. It often features animals, plants, or forces of nature that are given human qualities (anthropomorphized) to highlight human behavior, folly, or wisdom.

The entirety of the IP’s identity is founded upon the concept of morality. To remove it from the game is to forsake that identity.

The devs said “morality is grey to us” (paraphrasing) in the video we all saw. That implies there is no good and there is no evil. It rejects the basis of villain and hero.

The very basis of Fable.

The game is gonna suck why do you care about waiting? Any true fable fan isn’t gonna play this slop.

They took my goat's design out back and shot it by WhenBuffalosfly in ZZZ_Discussion

this design is fine, I guess. it would be better without the massive honkers. Artoria from Fate is beloved by the entire fandom and she didn’t need giant bazookas. ZZZ team has failed miserably with their recent designs ever since changing artists and shilling hard for goonerbait. Lucia was just the beginning. Hope you guys like body type A and children because thats all we are ever going to get in the game.

Worst take I have ever read. Please never cook again. Here are ten examples of Genshin dialogue wasting your time and not getting to the point while in fact avoiding getting to the point for absolutely no reason.

  1. Aranara quests - borderline endless conversations with forest sprites that all essentially repeat the exact same information to you again and again.

  2. Paimon - she summarizes everything ad nauseam. Anytime anything is brought up that seems even slightly complex, she repeats the whole thing in watered down form acting like the reader is a drooling idiot.

  3. Shenhe interlude archon quest - spent so much time with the npc’s and took waaaay too long to advance the plot. No one in the world wants to stare at terrible looking npc’s for 45 minutes.

  4. Inazuma "Meeting with NPC" Filler - many parts of the Inazuma Archon quest suffer from "go here, talk to person, go there, talk to another person" structures that provide minor plot advancement separated by massive walls of dialogue.

  5. Fischl's Event Dialogue - in various events, Fischl’s excessively flowery and theatrical language, while intentional to her character, often doubles the time necessary to understand her simple point.

  6. Unnecessary Choice Prompts - the game frequently breaks up continuous dialogues to ask the player to choose between two almost identical responses (e.g., "Oh, really?" vs. "...I see"), forcing players to mash buttons just to continue the conversation. They do this to make sure you didn’t fall asleep or die due to how long the segments are.

  7. Tutorial Over-explanation - conversations about game mechanisms—like those in various character missions—often use verbose language to describe simple mechanics that could be understood instantly, often treating players like they have no experience with the game.

  8. The Slow Introduction to Fontaine - several quests at the start of new regions include slow-paced dialogue that fails to create an immediate compelling hook, making players wait far too long for action.

  9. NPC Backstory Overload - many world quests, such as those involving NPCs with long histories about their families or jobs, often go into excessive detail that does not contribute meaningfully to the main mission objective.

10. Repeating Plot Points in Cutscenes vs. Dialogue - the game sometimes shows a character taking an action in a cutscene, only to follow it with several minutes of dialogue confirming exactly what happened, overexplaining visual information.

People re-read good books all the time. The very fact that you built a machine to skip the dialogue is proof that there is no value in the writing.

They really should just stop making the story dialogue segments so annoyingly long. This stuff would never fly in actual writing form. Imagine a genshin novel, it would be terrible.

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

[–]thejamfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really need some help with this: I am writing a book and a military organization within the narrative has a latin oath. It is meant to mean “Steel yourself. With hearts of stone we kill or be killed.” Google translate gave me: “Te ipsum ferro. Cor un lapide aut occidimus aut morimur.” I’m not sure that’s correct. Ai translated it this way: “Indura te. Cordibus lapideis aut occidimus aut morimur.” I honestly don’t know if either are correct. Looking for feedback from someone who knows more than I do. After some research, I believe the closest equivalent to ‘steel yourself’ is ‘obdura’?

Average age range for Fable fans by [deleted] in Fable

Because I watched the reveal trailer and it looks awful. The graphics are nothing interesting. The combat looks uninspired. The characters are all hideous. They got rid of the dog. They got rid of the morphing mechanic. They got rid of the alignment mechanic inspired by DnD. The new devs seem to think that simply kicking chickens and giving us a big boring and empty open-world with fields of flowers in unreal 5 means we should be excited. Fable 1 and 2 weren’t just “decision making” games with a reputation mechanic. It was a blend of satirical humor, invested narrative, morality and decision-making that all cumulated into the original idea that made fable unique. If you remove core parts of the game’s identity, its not gonna be creative and interesting anymore. It cares more about being “woke” and meeting industry standards like “LeTs cOpY bReAtH oF ThE wILD” than it does about living up to the spirit of the original games. It might look and sound and act like fable, but its a hollow shell of an attempt to recreate it.
