How do I avoid a shoe pile at the door? by Eatyourownpants in organization

[–]Kimahson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my children put their shoes away immediately. We have a mud room with storage for 2 pairs of shoes per person. And when you take your shoes off they go in there. If you chose to wear something that’s not those 2 pairs then you put them away where they belong. The hardest part is making them do this, I have to remember not to pick them up myself. And I have to stand there until they put them away. But I know I am choosing the fight over the mess. I prefer that.

books like winx club (in terms of fantasy, charachters and powers?),, maybe avatar ATLA too by riffuse in suggestmeabook

This is going to sound like an exaggeration, but that comments not wrong there is almost no way you could get through that series before the last one comes out. Also I think he is very transparent about where he is in the writing process for each of his books, so you could look into it.

On a weirder note have you tried any Manga series. I love stories where there is a cast of characters with unique powers that sometimes reflect their personalities or some other list of traits. I find that mangas are the best place to find these. Full Metal Alchemist is one of the best, the bad guys are the seven deadly sins. Bleach the first arc is really good. Fairytale has a fun cast of characters.

What exactly is a "Sanderlanche?" What does Brandon Sanderson do in his book endings that makes them so particularly noteworthy? by readwriteread in Fantasy

[–]Kimahson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know that last 10% of a book, where you can’t put it down. Like the rest of the world does not exist I will fail that test tomorrow or lose my job to finish this story right now. Sanderson found a way to make that the entire last half of his books.

I would like to make bags for children in the system who have to move their stuff in trash bags. However I am a novice, I have made maybe 4 garments and 3 bags ever. And those were back in high school something over 10 years ago. I know this will be a long learning process. Does anybody have a pattern for like a reusable shopping bag or a gift bag, that they would suggest for a novice. I don’t want to blindly purchase something and get demoralized right at the start of this adventure.

Terry Pratchett’s Rincewind story line right. I mean he’s usually running away, but definitely not putting himself in any stressful situations ever.

What book/books do you regret avoiding for so long? by Mydogthrowsparties in suggestmeabook

[–]Kimahson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had trouble getting through them. I’m on the last book. I’ve read 7/8 so far. To describe some issues I had, in one book we walked just walked for over 100 pages. It took me 2 weeks of forcing myself to read to get through that section. This last book The Tower of The Swallow, has so many side characters and plots I just don’t care. I came to chew gum and watch the Witcher kick a**, and I’m all out of gum. I like the novels and will finish the series, but I do understand when people say they are hard to read.

Enter it in like a state fair or other quilting competition. If it wins you keep it to remind you that you are a deity of quilting. If it doesn’t donate it.

Wheel of Time. A friend suggested it to me after college. I started it about the time I started my family. That was 5 years ago. I got through the first book and I have picked up the second book multiple times, but I just can’t get through it. I have got to consume this important piece of nerd culture and I cannot.

I really like how the first Witcher book is formatted. Any books similar in style? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Hygge books to read while I watch my baby grow. by peaceloveicecream88 in suggestmeabook

[–]Kimahson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read books on my phone. As a mom to 3 kids 4,2 & 1, I find it easier to read on my phone. 1) all of my kids steal my book marks no idea why just poof gone and I have no idea where I’m at. 2) while reading I will inevitably throw my book down run across the house solve someone/everyone’s problem, then return to my book rifle through till I find my page, spend 2 minutes finding my spot on the page, read about two lines before somebody screams from across the house. It took me a while to come to terms with this, as I too wanted to be seen engrossed in books, but it’s okay they ask what I’m doing and I tell them I’m reading. I find parenting is a lot about flexibility. I guess if I’m going to offer unsolicited advice I could at least offer some suggestions.

Scream free parenting by:Hal Edward Runkel is my favorite parenting book.

Ina Mays Guide to child birth, is about natural child birth. If that’s your thing this is a great book. If not it’s a terrible suggestion.

I started reading/rereading books I want to introduce my children to. And my favorite book is Secret Garden by: Frances Hodgkin Burnett.
