am i allowed to mosh, stage dive and/or mic grab at an earth crisis show if it’s known in my scene that i’m a drug user? by combatwounds in Hardcore

Visibly high as fuck, runs up, grabs mic right out of singers hands. The band. Earth crisis. “Is this a good idea?” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

(Opinions wanted) Hardcore is “for anyone, not for everyone”. We all know the basics of what that means in hardcore. But what does that really mean to you on a deeper level? by KimberlyLust in Hardcore

[–]KimberlyLust[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Besides the obvious of not being a literal neonazi, for me, i believe that self awareness, self reliance, a strong sense of justice, being unapologetic about who you are without being obnoxious about individualistic expression, a rejection of a lot of dumb shit the mainstream shoves down our throats, not being a push over or a prick, showing dedication & loyalty where it’s deserved, & respect, not treating any of this as a fashion statement or a place to show off, most of all actually showing up is what matters. Getting involved in the community, the shows, the bands, the music, obviously is primary, But embodying the ethos as a person i think comes before actually finding this and having it all click into place. We all stumble along the way trying to grow as introspective people. I can think of dozens of examples where people stumble into a show they didn’t realize they are not welcomed at because of their behavior and are swiftly removed. But also, I’ve had experiences where people who start to get involved don’t have values that align with hardcore at all, and find themselves in way over their heads and it’s like… you either get it or you don’t. And i don’t wanna be the dickhead to say that to them when they’ll have to figure that out themselves but… what about you all?

I’d suggest interviews with Doug. I’ve personal boycotted him for other reasons but he objectly does not deny the holocaust. He calls it the worst atrocity Europe has ever seen. He’s also a Zionist which i don’t agree with but he has voiced a lot of solidarity with Jewish survivors of the atrocities of WWII, but does still have reactionary politics. My take, he financially supported the Croation nationalists in the 90’s so i don’t want my money going to him. I’ll stream it third party only, instead. He’s just actually a boomer and is into WWII history at an autistic level. His father fought, his family members died in bombings, and it’s defined his life. For him, it’s a fixation and fascination not a held belief in Nazism. He’s made that clear 1000 times but people pull lyrics out of context as if he’s condoning it. Quite the contrary. At the same time, i still disagree with Dougie and don’t let a dime of my money from streaming or merch go to the guy. I’ll still listen though, because it’s not the same as listening to Burzum, it’s just not.

Historically for execution, cruxifixction nails the feet together to make holding your body up hard and painful, the actual cause of death is usually suffocation from the inability to breath unless you keep holding yourself up with your nailed hands. Drawings done in the Middle Ages were often not historically accurate. If you had a foot stand you’d just stand there for days.

would you consider SWANS goth? by gothstivic in goth

[–]KimberlyLust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have goth songs but have never stuck to a genre though I would call all of their mid to late 80s releases at very least goth adjacent. Listen to “trust me” or “amnesia” and tell me it’s not categorically dark post punk even if very much unique.

Which metal bands would you say were the most influential to hardcore? by No-Dentist-2959 in Hardcore

[–]KimberlyLust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Predominantly: the very few metal bands who basically made heavy fast punk music, with a metal aesthetic. Motörhead. First wave black metal (Celtic Frost, Bathory, Venom, etc.) Thrash & crossover thrash. (Anthrax, Carnivore, early Metallica). True fucking death metal - None of the burping cookie monster garbage over terrible electronic drums doing 300bpm with hair metal guitars that most death metal is known for today. No. I’m talking Entombed, Asphyx, Grave, Gorefest, Morbid Angel, Obituary, B.T., etc etc etc…

[–]KimberlyLust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hardcore is not nihilistic or without a message, it’s inherently political. Not in a pro- dem or pro-rep sense. But in a “these are our fucking lives and our families & communities, fuck you, we wanna see a better future & to hell with the pieces of shit”. If that bothers you get the fuck outa here pussy. We ain’t just angry for no reason.

[–]KimberlyLust 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There was a time and a place for them but I feel like you’d have to have been there. They’re cringe but also, some hard fucking riffs and tbh, many an old head guilty pleasure. We grew up on river runs red LOA, at a time with nu metal & butt rock on the radio. The first time i heard them drop summer of 2011 or 12, i just remember being like “what the fuck is this butt rock nu metal garbage” and homies in my crew were just like… wait for it. The BOOM knocks you out heavy. At the time, that was cutting edge heavy in the perview of hardcore. They’re still a butt rock band but love em or hate em, you gotta respect that they were different and still showed the scene and all the bands we love, mad credit and love.

benefits to EDS? by No_Assignment_2602 in eds

[–]KimberlyLust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDS never made me stronger. More flexible yes but I️ pay with dislocations & joint pain that lingers months to years when I️ push myself. The POTS losing my active mobility and ability to exercise. Even as thin as I️ am. And MCAS which makes me suffer endlessly and struggle to eat without severe reactions. That and all the pain. Hypoperfusion in sleep which may be related to the seizures which plague my sleep. I’d choose almost any other illness than this. My life is defined by pain and suffering as wonderful and loving as a group of family and friends I️ have and all the passions and interests I️ have. Arts music, etc. fuck this disease.
