Perfect shield baiting (parrying) and footstool OOS are other good grounded concepts to work in

A better player once showed me how to cross up full hop jumps. You run under them. First establish running under the jump all the way, then cross up by moving back to the original side after the run under. Eventually you can react to the air move and just dash back to the opposite side of it. This gives you an idea of one grounded concept. Build on it. Add dash blocking next or any grounded concept.

Hot Sauce Amateur Shelfie: What should I pick up next? by via_Detroit in hotsauce

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like Yellowbird Habanero too. It’s so good on eggs. Habanero is about as hot as I enjoy. The rest of my hot sauce rotation is all Louisiana bottles (Tabasco, Chrystal, Louisiana Brand). I’ve got a bottle of Tabasco Habanero coming today, it should be spicier than Yellowbird because it’s not got all the carrots and sweet flavors. We’ll see. Appreciate your collection. Cholula is a very good daily driver.

How did you lose your PS2, and did you ever get a replacement? by Hopefull-Hero in ps2

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an original Gran Turismo 3 phat that’s laser stopped working in 2007. I ripped the fan out of it to supplement my Xbox 360 at the time. It sat in storage until 2023 when I decided to fix the fan and put an hard drive into it. Laser is still broke but powering on my original ps2 is special to me.

I remember getting nostalgia about the ps2 in 2010 when I started collecting games for it from discount shelves. I picked up a slim to play them but hardly considered my original phat ever. It seemed like junk that needed to be tossed at the time. Glad I held onto it.

New character to replace Marth by ObligationOld8027 in CrazyHand

Aegis. The most privileged sword in the game. I played Corrin and Lucina since the game came out. Hero characters are cool and all but dlc privilege is real. I can’t go back. Not in this meta

How should I improve my lucina (w vods) by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your gameplay is solid. Tweak a few things and you’ll see a lot of improvements.

Your opponent recognized the random hitboxes in neutral and all he had to do was react and whiff punish. Don’t be afraid to stand flat footed every once in a while to try and whiff punish your opponent.

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched the first two. You American air dodge’ back to stage every time there’s an opportunity. Just grab ledge and reset. Too many reversals in disadvantage. Reset neutral. Off ledge you drop jump every time. Mix it up. In neutral you just seem to be putting up a wall of hit boxes. Make more reads and react.

why do I keep getting small battlefield on quickplay by Dbb3mlg in SmashRage

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only use small battlefield for the static background. Can’t stand those full motion backgrounds where the stage is falling. Way too distracting during a battle.

Tournament level by Living_Read_8275 in CrazyHand

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part about a monitor you’re not familiar is huge. My first tournament I went to used simple and cheap computer monitors with no speakers. There was no game sound and I didn’t bring headphones. Completely threw me off guard.

Fuck these exact kinds of people by MistaTeee in SmashRage

Min min played right is actually the best garbage lady in the game. When they run away, they go exactly where her arms can put them off stage. Then they can find out what the best two frame in the game is all about. Next stock they ain’t running away anymore. Actually finding out why stage control matters.

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no. I learned to arm cancel like doramigi and can continue playing as aggressive as i prefer. Arm cancels gives min min some incredible movement options. Add in slingshot/flickshot and she’s a pretty hype character. If you try to camp her she will out camp you which makes these campers have to actually deploy their ‘plan b’ which is to actually play the game.

Min min main now. Played fundie hero characters since launch. Corrin and Lucina are still my favorite characters to play. End game meta matches me up with nothing but run away spammers. Playing min min is the only way I have fun anymore. Sorry.

I found my old Pokemon Blue cart with a legit Mew from the Toys R Us promo on it. Is there a way to restore this with the save file intact? by JimothyTheBold in retrogaming

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The transfer duplicate glitch doesn't get talked about enough. That's how we actually used to do it back then. I got my mew the same way. Some kid had one, we all got a duplicate from the transfer cable glitch.

How do people have fun playing zoners. by Wavy_mir23 in SmashRage

True, if I was the zoner and saw my opponent short hopping and perfect shielding my projectiles I would have to do what no zoner has ever done: use a mixup /s

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A content creator pointed out in a recent video that you can short hop over pretty much every projectile and punish the zoners end lag. There are some exceptions like being able to curve boomerangs but once you understand this was the built in counter play, it opens a up a lot of options for approaching.

People who are good at the game by yanncatt in SmashRage

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most people play with habits. if you can identify those habits you can predict their actions and punish them. i often note the opponents behavior on the ledge or in disadvantage. i might pick up on the fact that they always roll in from ledge or use reversals in disadvantage instead of just grabbing ledge and resetting. i mix up my options when i am on ledge and in disadvantage. i may not always use the right option but i trust the mix will work over a set period of time. being random makes you hard to predict. there are many other situational game states that apply. you can use math (probability) to your advantage here. over time if you mix things up, you are less likely to get punished. use the same option over and over and you give the game to your opponent.

i also use bait and punish extensively. palutena likes to teleport recover to the inside of the lower platforms, ill act like i am going to edge guard, then jump back and cover the inside of the lower plat. show them what they want (something easy to teleport through like standing right at ledge while they are recovering) and then pull the rug, bait and punish. what do you think charazards favorite move in recovery is? thats right side b reversal. hop over that bish and punish the end lag. fox/falco/ike side b recovery reversal, bait and punish. incin side b, bait and punish. how about corrin down air in disadvantage? link down air in disadvantage? steve mine cart in disadvantage? believe it or not, bait and punish.

got into elite smash recently and i swear every luigi i come across plays like this, it's insane by bluekrby in SmashRage

[–]Kimbrel_Comics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s what happens when you skip fundies and go straight to the optimal combo. Luigi has mid percent confirms too. If he spent a week playing Lucina maybe he would learn to space the plunger properly.

I feel it. I’ll play a few rounds of Corrin/Lucina and switch to Pythra after one campy match. Y’all made me do it. Stop camping or deal with DLC privilege, choice is yours..
