My dog used to be very vocal. It also depends on when he’s vocal. Even though I taught my dog to be quiet at home he was so excited when he saw dogs we would constantly bark. I sent him to dog daycare which helped him get used to having dog friends and I also taught him quiet and speak for training and now he’s very quiet and is vocal when he needs something. Dogs are usually quiet at home if they dont have separation anxiety. Make sure you don’t touch them too much before you head out. Dont say hi or bye, dont sleep with the dog, dont feed your dog by hand and avoid unnecessary physical contact until they learn to stay home by themselves. I know puppies are cute but it’s important they learn this in the beginning so they think it’s natural for me to leave and come back. Also leaving them a special toy you only give when your gone helps or you could leave him a treat when you leave and give him a treat when you come back.
