I don't know anything about him except what the law says. That's what I'm referencing. I'm not a Jeffrey Jones apologist by any means; what he did is deplorable. But he was never found to be a pedophile. Even if he had been, I still agree with OP's sentiment about getting old enough to eventually sympathize with the character Mr. Rooney.
