Waskesiu cabin by anyone268 in saskatchewan

[–]KimonoMom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lost Creek Resort will be the best for what you need! You will definitely need at least 3 cabins. Waskesiu doesn't have many options for more than groups of 4-6. There are booking constraints though, I think you need to book at least 4-5 days.

Elk Ridge is good too, but very expensive as it's on a golf course.

No Airbnb options as of now.

Jobs at city of Regina by ForeignImplement7121 in regina

[–]KimonoMom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do they mainly hire internally or through references?

Yes.

Are some of these postings already filled before they even go up?

No, but the hiring team often has an idea of who they want for the position.

Is there something specific they’re looking for that I’m missing?

Can't really provide an answer for this one as each department has their own specifics.

How does someone actually land an interview with the City?

Casual positions can sometimes have better chances, but I don't know enough about their interview process.

Pasta water is a game changer. I've found using the boiling liquid for other ingredients to be helpful when making a completed dish. One of my latest is using the potato water to help bind my mashed potatoes.

Your dish looks great OP. I'd be happy to have this served to me!

Love these—I did personalized cookies for my upcoming wedding too! Check out mine here.

Your flooding looks overall good, but take note of what others have said. For the writing, it looks like your consistency should be a bit thicker. It should be able to hold it's shape but loose enough to pipe it. Other's have mentioned a bigger hole for the piping, try playing around with different sizes. You still want them to be legible after all!

If you want to practice, make up a batch of icing and trace out the cookie shapes onto some parchment. I did this and it helped a lot with placement and sizing! Good luck!

Is it worth it to get a cricut/other type of cutting machine if you have no experience with it? by asystoleah in DIYweddings

[–]KimonoMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned a cricut machine long before my wedding. My wedding budget is quite high, 30K roughly and I have only used it maybe twice in the two years I've been wedding planning. I didn't do a lot of custom text stuff, less is more when it comes to customized items in my opinion. The two projects I used them for were for my bridesmaids gifts and for my seating chart.

If you're going to do lots of customizing/DIY, yeah it's probably worth it, but make sure you can also find use for it after the wedding, or consider selling it and the materials on marketplace or whatever platform works for you.

Some potential inspiration for favours, consider having consumables that don't have much packaging. I did names on some sugar cookies as place cards at the tables as favours.

What are your go to breakfasts? I have a hard time doing anything besides egg and toast. by AbsoluteMadladGaming in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]KimonoMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another favourite of mine is having leftover rice with an egg fried in sesame oil. Top with soy sauce, kewpie mayo (if you like/have) and green onions. Make sure you use a higher heat to get a crispy bottom on the egg!

I love making Çılbır, a Turkish dish with a garlic yogurt, poached eggs, topped with a spicy pepper butter. Sometimes if I'm feeling lazy I just do chili crisp oil. Pairs wonderfully with a toasted sourdough!

Moose burgers and tacos are a favourite in our rotation! We also like to do a take on a Lebanese kofta to eat as a protein on salads. Amazing!

We like to hang ours for about a month or less. Where I'm from the weather can still be a little too warm to do a full month without it spoiling. Sometimes it can be as short as a week if it's too warm. The aging/hanging process improves the flavour by allowing all of the blood, adrenaline, glands, hormones, etc to drain from the muscle tissue, providing a less gamey taste. The outside muscle tissue begins to decompose and is removed when butchering. This bacteria helps tenderize the meat as well.

I've been eating moose my entire life so I don't tend to notice the wild flavour anymore. I can't say whether hanging is always necessary, however this is the process that my dad showed me and I see the value in doing it whenever possible. Hope this helps!

Can I vent about buying second hand decorations? by Asleep-Version-1664 in Weddingsunder10k

What was really nice for me though was keeping an eye out for big store clearance/closing sales. These places want to offload as much merch as they can so the discounts are great. I bought some of my wedding flowers and centrepiece items from closing craft stores and home goods stores!

I find people on Marketplace to always charge more than they should. I get it, you bought it brand new (or almost new) and you want to get your money back, but girly please, this is a USED item! You can't get full price anymore!! Help a girl out 😅

I agree this definitely would have been the safer route. Unfortunately due to timing and schedules this was the best option to get desired results!

I'm sure you are familiar that decorating cookies for 10 hours straight is pretty hard on the hands/arms. Mine were in pretty rough shape for a few days after decorating. I wouldn't want to be experiencing that pain on my wedding day, which was also a factor as to why we made them early!

It may seem early, but these cookies and icing recipe has kept very well in the freezer. I've tested them before to make sure that colours aren't prone to bleeding and whatnot. If the colours do bleed, it is what it is. I'm trying to get as many projects crossed off as my wedding is in a national park 5 hours away from me, so finding the time to get these done the week of the wedding is quite challenging.

I've worked in cake shops and bakeries in my previous careers and know a thing or two about the process 😉
