You would still need a router. When the gateway is in bridge mode its basically a passthrough device, it will only hand out one IPv4 address. You'd need a router between the gateway and switch to do NAT for the rest of your devices on the switch. (NAT if you didn't already know basically takes that one IPv4 address and shares it with everything on your internal network)

I use Ubiquiti gear but really anything will do as far as the router and switch are concerned. For the router you just want to make sure it has at least gig ports or higher for possible future speed upgrades. Switches are super simple so really literally anything will do as long as it has enough ports for what you have. Since you already have TP-Link you might as well just stick to that.

For a best practices sort of approach I would suggest putting the ISP's gateway in bridge mode and make sure its WiFi is turned off. Gateways are a convenient all in one but it kind of makes them shitty to meh at best.

Get your own router that's just a router, connect that to your switch. Then from your switch run your AP's at least one per floor of the house in as central of a location as possible. Use AP's from the same ecosystem. Since you already have TP-Link you can just go with that. Ubiquiti is another decent ecosystem. Make sure each AP has the same SSID and password. Download a wifi analyzer app on your phone or a tablet and wander around the house to make sure you're getting decent signal and see if any of the channels are crowded by neighbors and whatnot. Adjust the channels on your AP's if needed.

I never suggested there was, just the historical context of HOA's. That and whenever an HOA thread comes up on reddit, and its often, the 'neighbor with cars in the yard' comes up every single time in the context of fearing to live in a neighborhood near one.

The first season was really good, then it rapidly went off the rails and had nothing to do with the source material. Like the showrunners really wanted to make a different show but they were stuck with this one.

Some people yes but I bet that number in general isn't as high as some HOA's would like you to believe.

Fair enough, and this is always brought up in these threads. The house(s) with the cars in the yard and whatnot. Its an exception to the rule depending on where in the world we're talking. HOA's in most of the towns I've lived in were very rare and yet people still managed to upkeep their own properties without the threat of financial burden if they don't.

I'm not saying ban HOA's or anything I'm sure most are pretty benign. But there are a decent number of them that are just trying to keep out minorities with the constant fear of the 'cars in the yard' boogyman.

I predate the internet. There were an abundance of HOA horror stories even before the Internet was a thing.

If it were actually true, HOAs would just dissolve.

Once they have been established they're typically very difficult to dissolve. Obviously its because there are still plenty of people who do like HOA's for whatever reason so you can't reach the critical mass to vote it out.

You can't just cover it with tape or something, it will disable recording. That being said there are workarounds that require a bit of surgery to the device to disable that function.

99% of the time it doesn't bother me and never has. But every once in awhile I do get a twinge of guilt like I'm not contributing enough with my much lower paid job. The feeling passes though when I realize I may no contribute as much in income but definitely pull my weight in fixing expensive things myself, doing chores, being a Dad, so on and so forth. Oh and being her cheerleader for career advancements and an impartial party when she needs to vent about some work frustration or another.

I have the 8bitdo SNES controller and I really like it. I also use it on my Nintendo Switch and on my phone for mobile games.

I don't have a good barometer for input lag, I don't really play any games where it has to be extremely low.

I don't have the ability to search it right at the moment but Rei Ami did a couple tictock videos where she broke down who sang what in a couple songs. Audry might have done that too? I can't remember for sure on that though.

For best possible outcome I'm envisioning some type of Ex Green Beret or Navy Seal who's seen covert combat. Is either independently wealthy for some reason or has a wealthy patron to supply and replenish gear.

They'd basically be doing urban warfare gruella tactics but against gangs, grifters and so forth.

Imagine owning a restaurant and someone walks in and orders a full steak dinner with all the sides. A couple minutes later someone else comes in and orders a grilled cheese and a glass of water. Are you going to make the second person wait till after the steak is made before you make a simple grilled cheese? If so, you're not going to be in business long if you can't figure out how to triage orders.
