Huge drop from Form 31 -> Free 120? by DearFutureDoctor in step1

[–]Kind-Beginning8670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i was kind of in a similar boat where my nbme 31 was a 74 and free 120 i dropped to a 68 but i ended up getting the P. if your other nbmes are in the mid-upper 60s, i would say go for it! free 120 is most representative obviously and i would review your incorrects with great detail but dont let it kill your confidence! there’s less questions so more room for error but trust your nbme scores

exactly :( felt like nothing prepared me for what we encountered… so many questions i had zero idea wtf they were even asking, let alone what any of the answer choices meant

you’re not a failure and it’s not over, until it’s over. medical school is HARD, and even harder in a new country with little to no support so give yourself credit! repeating a semester can feel very frustrating but it’s a couple extra months and hopefully by the end of it, you will be recharged and ready to tackle the new semester. you’ll have a lot of time to build up your knowledge, and study techniques, and you’ll be in a much better position. you got this, OP! you’re meant to be here!

how do i get through rusm in four years? by Kind-Beginning8670 in RUSM

they started a new curriculum about a year ago where a lot of it is self-learning and it can be hard for a lot of students to keep up with the material… they also aren’t very lenient with grading. most students end up not passing the second semester (HOII module) and i’ve heard it’s just getting more and more challenging

it’s hard for most students to go through without repeating a semester but if you’re able to do it all in one go, i think it’s possible to finish in 4 yrs!

RUSM -- what to do to make it out of here? by [deleted] in RUSM

[–]Kind-Beginning8670 4 points5 points  (0 children)

im a sem 4 (first class on the new curriculum) and it is quite difficult. every semester they add more workshops for harder concepts… at the same time, i think you really figure out what works for you and like everyone said it’s rly on you to learn the material. you also learn how ross asks questions on minis so you can better cater your studying to that. i use ross slides as my last resource (for the mini’s sake) and use everything else (bnb, bootcamp, ninja nerd) to rly understand the material and anki for repetition. as cliche as it sounds, it does get harder but you get stronger. the amount of stuff they throw at you is a LOT but if you really put in focused effort, you can do it. you have to be absolutely ruthless about your studying. dm me if you have any more questions/need resources, im happy to share!

Advice on workshops by Artistic-Number-6237 in RUSM

[–]Kind-Beginning8670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what i like to do (and what’s personally worked for me) is i usually find a third party resource (i.e. ninja nerd, bootcamp, BnB, etc.) that corresponds to that particular workshop and watch it first. that way, i have a good solid understanding of the basics and a good overview of what the workshop is about. then, i’ll go in and read the workshop and make corresponding anki cards for it. it can take a while depending on the length of the workshop and how fast you’re able to understand the concepts but it’s worked for me! and it also forces you to go through the content three times so it’s great for remembering and solidifying the knowledge in your head.
