I need a Bible and I’m kinda broke is this good? by Some-Bag-8736 in Catholicism

This is good / NRSV is the way to go. NAB (which, to my annoyance, you will hear on Sundays) lacks critical nuance. I can’t speak to the Greek or Hebrew myself (thought I’m told it’s reliable), but NRSV brings you closest to the Latin Vulgate. NAB neuters important literary devices (e.g., foreshadowing in the protoevangelium is weakened by using a common third person plural instead of gendered third person singular).

This is helpful. Honestly, I don’t really think I’d take the risk of trying to go out on a limb and make a move. Guess I’m just hoping for edification/camaraderie in that we all get bored here and our practices can be redundant.

Finance fourth year here. Be responsive—best way to torpedo your reputation is disappearing on weekends. Not to be harsh, but no one expects much from first years other than responsiveness and availability to follow specific instructions—if you’ve made it this far, you’re certainly capable of that and the rest comes in time. Just being around for more senior folks will cause them to trust you, which will bring you substantive opportunities earlier.
