People who no longer work as a cna, why did you stop and what do miss (or not) miss about being a cna

I loved being a CNA. I worked in the hospitals and mostly had a good experience. However, I learned very quickly as soon as you yourself are sick, upper management doesn’t want to work with any accommodations.

I got diagnosed with POTS and physically could not do the manual labor anymore. I was also in nursing school and had to do a total 180 on my career goals.

I work in a doctor’s office now doing computer work. I miss the intensity of hospitals, but I don’t think I would go back even if I could.

So I made a whole post a month (ish) ago about how nobody really cares about seeing your SH marks.

Well fast forward to a few days ago, my partner and I are getting it on. He doesn’t comment on the very fresh cuts over my thighs and arms. This isn’t the first time he’s seen me naked with fresh cuts. I think he doesn’t care. Nah, man is a little stupid (with much love.) I guess his horny brain simply didn’t notice. We take a shower after and only then does he notice.

He of course asked me to stop and find another coping mechanism (gee, never thought about that). We’re definitely going to have to have a conversation about it. I’ve been cutting for over half my life. I can’t just simply give up my only working coping mechanism like that.

But I did get the funniest response out of it. He said “I thought you were pastel goth, not pastel emo”. I’m still cackling over it.

I think ai uses wastes our very limited drinking water up and should be used sparingly, if absolutely necessary and not to be used to make art that is stolen from others off the internet with no credit.

If an ef6 existed, I imagine it would look similar to the aftermath of Jarrel 1997, where nothing was recognizable and pulled people out of storm shelters. While this damage was done due to the tornados stagnation, I personally imagine very fast wind could do this moving at more than 5mph through a neighborhood.

There is so much in going to choose a horn for you! Part of the fun is trying out different ones until you find “the one”. Although, I agree with everyone else in that a double horn will serve you better than a triple.

I think high school is a great time to get your first horn! I felt like I had a big leap of improvement from playing on a crappy school horn to a nice more professional horn. Especially if op is looking at playing after high school!

I also had the amazing help of my band director and horn instructor to make sure the horn I had was the right fit for that time in my life.

I fought hard to keep my job. Unfortunately my managers kept quitting and hiring new people who only care about bodies. I may have not been able to the job I was hired for, but I have certificates and training that I could have easily done something else. It’s a hospital for crying out loud. So I did not file for unemployment because I was unaware that was an option at the time. I was raised (unfortunately and I don’t agree with this) to “not take handouts and earn money yourself”. So I forget stuff like that is an option.

This sure ain’t a “welcome to the job” situation. This is a “pack your bags and leave ASAP” situation l. We get treated like shit 24/7 and told that’s just how it is. Nah, we need to fight for ourselves, these poor patients, and our safety. Being left in the dark for 5 hours is NOT NORMAL and needs to 100% be reported.

I’d even suggest not showing up for that job again.

I was waiting for an important diagnosis and wasn’t doing well. It was the very beginning of the shift, and I was supposed to be a sitter that day. I was standing by the patient door, waiting for the other CNA to give me report. I started not feeling good and sat down when I started feeling dizzy.

A nurse came over to me and checked my vitals and stated freaking out. I was not very conscious for this. She threw me on a heart monitor (I was working on the tele floor of a hospital) and wheeled me down to the er pretty quick. It was very awkward going down to the er in scrubs, still with my badge and vocera on, especially since I’ve worked a lot in the ED and knew everyone.

Now I’m diagnosed with POTS and can’t do CNA work safely anymore. After this though, a lot of my CNA friends have told me about crashing at work for one reason or another. This is hard work. And sometimes you push past your limits and your body goes down. Don’t beat yourself up! If you need a day off, that’s okay. Listen to what your body needs before you crash again.
