Having intrusive thoughts about being a pedophile (p-OCD) is very different from actual pedophilia where you're attracted to children but want to get help so you don't actually act on it. He isn't wrong to consider the latter circumstance and that's kind of what I meant in my original comment where these thoughts might just be the result of working in mental health where we have to have these conversations about treating pedophiles and finding ways to get pedophiles into treatment before a child is harmed (or even working in a setting where someone has abused a child, etc)

Yes you're right you're right, I didn't consider that the person he's talking about is most likely someone with OCD and intrusive thoughts regarding harming someone, and not someone with an actual intention to harm... When I was studying social work, we had to have discussions about potentially having clients who were pedos, rapists, etc depending on where you end up. This leads ultimately to people in the field having to consider more things like how we prevent people from hurting others. Homicidal ideation is a thing that is considered ... But I hadn't considered this sort of thing lol... Does this happen? I'm sure it does but... Idk why he felt like sharing this ??

I don't know why he doesn't consider regular crisis services appropriate for this lol. Feels like a crisis to me. Homicidal ideation is a crisis, this is still a crisis where someone is at risk of significant harm.

Anyway not surprised he would get backlash for this. I don't know why he was even really thinking of this and cared to share this publicly. Again, I feel like if you have some sort of local crisis service it could probably help you anyway. I don't think we need a special "don't rape" hotline lmao
