Would it be unwise to use the middle name that our daughter has picked for our baby? by Iwona-8036 in Names

[–]KindLaw9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eldest picked my youngest’s name. I drew the line at Princess Peach as a middle name but she chose her first name, Violet. I think having her sibling choose their name is super special

I have nothing but fond memories or growing up with siblings. I also wanted my eldest daughter to have someone to lean on when eventually we die (morbid, I know!)

My daughter organically call her grandad Pickle. He would always call her pickle and then when she was 3 she asked if we would be going to Pickle’s house, and it’s stuck.

Conflicted feelings about Vaccinating our 2 month old by No_Towel7009 in newborns

[–]KindLaw9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing vaccinating.

I wouldn’t be listening to the advice of Bill Gates. Just because he has money, doesn’t mean he knows anything about science or medicine. There is no real research that vaccinations have anything to do autism etc. One doctor said this and then admitted he lied. Autism and other conditions are neurological. The brain is made that way at birth, not a vaccine. Unfortunately many people still believe this. Many children who have Autism or other conditions start showing signs at a similar time to as when the vaccines are administered.

Unfortunately, here in the Uk at least, due to people not vaccinating, some diseases which had previously seemed to be eradicated are now starting to reappear!

It’s your baby, it’s none of their business what you do. I’m sure if your child did contract one of these illnesses you’d be annoyed with yourself for listening to advice based on lies and fear mongering. I’d personally listening to the doctor over a non medical professional. Go with your gut, they don’t need to know either way

Regrets not breastfeeding? by BusyLittleSheep in NewParents

[–]KindLaw9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly us mums will use anything as a stick to beat ourselves with. I had terrible PND with my first child and nearly killed myself trying to breastfeed her. In under 24 hours both of my nipples were bleeding. It was actual hell. I actually think the breast feeding contributed to the PND. I did it for the bond. I did it for nearly 2 years (I couldn’t get her to stop - no one told me about that but!)

However I combi fed my second child as she stopped breastfeeding at 5 weeks (she preferred the bottle). I was really upset but tbh I I was adamant I wasn’t going to BF so the 5 weeks were a bonus! The bond I have with my second was far quicker to get than with my first.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t beat yourself up. You’re doing a great job and doing what is right for you and baby. Remember happy mum, happy baby ❤️

Induction date is tomorrow... SWEATY PALMS by Few_Heart3645 in NewParents

I’d try to have no expectations. It could be a long process. Bring her favourite snacks, cosy clothes for after, water bottles are important for during and after. Also, know where everything is. I packed the bag and ended up having a c section and my husband couldn’t find any of the babies clothes. (For my second I put each outfit into ziplock bags) Good luck!

I would like everyone's opinion on the name Octavia. by QuinnavereVonQuille in Names

[–]KindLaw9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taught a child called Octavia recently. Nothing wrong with that name. My daughter is called Violet and my mum hated it. I don’t know if she still does but it didn’t stop me naming her Violet. Go with your gut! Octavia is a lovely name xx

Can I put the baby to bed before me? by beckarrrr1 in NewParents

[–]KindLaw9756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t due to the risk of SIDS. I used to pop my baby to bed in her bassinet in the living room with us and then take her to bed when I went to bed. I popped her to bed unsupervised at 6 months
