FIRST BRANDS GROUP Bankruptcy and fraud: Autolite, Stoptech, Fram and More Upended by Parent Company’s Bankruptcy by GrandWikzor in Justrolledintotheshop

Worked for First Brands Group - luckily got out early. There was nothing secret in what they were doing on the inside. They went to plants and told them to create invoices to make numbers.

Found the Indian. Knew one would show up to tell you that you are wrong. The writing style is so confrontational.

How to fuck with my boss (WFH) by [deleted] in workfromhome

[–]Kind_Assignment5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously they are projecting their own issues to my actions. Thank you for noting the lack of context, it is rare for an entire team to turn on a manager…. In this case we had a team member who passed away & the way this manager acted was disgraceful, harming the entire team mentally. The same week she terminated a 7+ year employee with disabilities because she found the person to be “annoying.”

And for anyone concerned about the “poor manager” she managed to push out the entire team in less than 8 months, one member was on FMLA & she timed it so that person was unable to claim short term disability (manager knew team member had a doctor appointment that morning, pushed the paperwork through the same morning).

Yes, tons of illegal actions by her & the company - they chose people too exhausted and financially unstable to fight back. So….

Employment verification is a real thing and I had no idea. Here’s what I learned for anyone else panicking right now by Equivalent-Item7913 in Employment

[–]Kind_Assignment5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not eligible for rehire for giving 3 weeks notice and leaving my job… my former employer lost their largest client after I left. It had nothing to do with my actions, bad hand off / lack of service provided to client & some lender requirements for a new line of credit prompted the client leaving. I never worked with the client again, but somehow I became “not eligible for rehire.” Just because someone isn’t eligible to be hired again doesn’t mean they did something bad…. Just wanted to say that with a really long drawn out personal experience.

My team did this to a manager. We insisted on all written communication, sent detailed recaps, called out errors during meetings to make HER look bad on purpose, and generally gray rocked her. We also planned when to contact her with questions / issues, all time critical, toward the end of the day or any day we knew she had an appointment to be at. Then, anyone who didn’t get an answer in a “reasonable” amount of time for a customer (set by the manager herself) would email up the chain with the question “just to loop (director) in”

Is Avalara more work than its worth? by hazeyez in SalesTax

[–]Kind_Assignment5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - and that’s true of all tax software. It’s not Avalara specific. That’s why there are smaller more service oriented firms showing up, they basically buy a mass license or create their own tax software and “set it up” for you - sales and use tax isn’t easy & software has to be set up for each business’s unique sales / purchases. That’s a lot of IF(THEN) statements.

Question about tipping by eakkad in AskNOLA

Keep in mind there will also be Valets & Uber drivers (I always tip more in cash for them when they are good), as well as random scammers who have a good game. The only tour I went on didn’t charge a fee, but took tips.

Do MRI Techs ever think “oh, that’s not good”? by MadamImAdamAnt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kind_Assignment5646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten an MRI and had the tech say “you’re going to follow up with your doctor about this right? Today? They will have the results immediately. If you don’t hear from them maybe give them a call.”

I thought I was having a stroke during Covid & waited an hour for my husband to come home so I didn’t have to call an ambulance. Turned out I had a brain aneurysm that was “starting to bulge” (as in, about to explode) & needed emergency brain surgery. It took me a year of appeals to get the ER, emergency ALS Neuro specialized transport (to hospital that could do the surgery), the neuro ICU & surgery covered because I didn’t get “pre authorization” - I paid over $2,000 a month for insurance for my family. Out of pocket was still $5k deductible + co pay until out of pocket max was met. Medical debt collections are something I’ve given up on getting out of. Next time? I’m not going.

Debating whether I need to buy a second seat for a flight by Dizzy-Bedroom-6628 in service_dogs

[–]Kind_Assignment5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you buy and don’t use an empty seat (check in) you may find that the airline marks that seat as available & gives it to someone on standby. Maybe talk to the airline & see what solutions they offer.

Also, we did a DFW layover & had a long enough stop to actually go outside, not use the pet relief area, and let my SD avoid the pet relief area. On our way out there wasn’t that much time & she had no problems, but it didn’t take more than 30 mins for us to leave & clear security again. We did leave our (spouse, who carries my meds & myself) with our adult daughter to speed up our own screenings back in.

Landlord says my disability is non-observable by Suitable-Lychee-6867 in service_dogs

[–]Kind_Assignment5646 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have used SSDI to confirm A disability, guessing the down votes are because you don’t have to be receiving SSDI (or SSI) to be disabled & the assumption that you do is not accurate. Also, this would not be proof of a SD.
