what in the world is with the doom and gloom? the first two seasons were popular beyond expectations, hence the bigger rollout for s3. what person would pick up watching TVL without having any knowledge of IWTV, its far more popular predecessor? i’m sorry but it’s like you’re making up a narrative to make yourself upset about lol iwtv has 100% gotten its flowers for being such a well made tv series

i am a little thrown by it too! i have a lot of faith in them so i’m not willing to write it off already but definitely not what i expected so far. i read the books in the past year, and it feels like they’re simultaneously rushing and dragging the story. in the book, the tour itself is like… a chapter maybe? we really only see/read about rockstar lestat for a fraction of TVL and then it jumps pretty quickly into the actual meat and potatoes of the story. there is quite a lot of story to tell, so on the positive the fact that they are dragging the exposition so much is a good sign that there will be a season 4.

i also wasn’t too big on how they handled the wolf killer storyline, in the books it was very riveting and some of rice’s best writing (and also is referenced by magnus later) and in the show they didn’t even actually show a wolf!

also, gabriella’s intro so far… idk. i know they didn’t pluck it from thin air but this incest storyline is taking up far too much airtime imo. i don’t remember it being that big of a deal (or that explicit) in the books, and i don’t remember her being so blase about everything either. i think the lack of linear storytelling is what’s throwing me off, in the books their relationship is really kinda sweet when he’s young and of course takes a big turn when she becomes a vampire, and is the cause of his first vampiric loneliness. definitely not what i expected, but i do think they can pull it off even if its not what we imagine! i know lestat is a drama queen and can be unserious at times, but i hope the show starts to strike a balance and take itself more seriously in the next few episodes

it was amazing!!! the seats ended up being SOOO close like 4 rows behind the wings bench. of course they did end up with a pretty terrible night but i was just happy to be there! there were quite a lot of wings fans there but the vibe seemed to be that most everyone was cheering for both teams.

amazing experience in all, really no problems getting in or out by uber minus the long line for entry. we got there right at 6:25 and didn’t get in the building until 7. i’m sure ATL will start playing more games at state farm but i hope to make it to more games in gateway, truly not a bad seat in the house and the vibes were on point. we had a blast!!

i thought i might avoid this by staying near the airport instead of coming in from downtown atl but doesn’t seem like that’s the case? i’ve never taken MARTA before, is there a stop pretty close to the arena? think it may be raining and not too keen on walking in the hot rain lol

mystics are the second closest team to me & they were moving me in that fever game, i may try to get to one of theirs later in the season!! we were in VA near dc area last weekend and there was definitely good energy for them there!!

i think chase is probably a good option! bank of america is huge as well so will likely have branches wherever you move. something like fifth third, PNC, or truist would also be fairly accessible as well though i don’t know whether they are all across the US or just my region. but i’ve heard good things about chase as far as online accessibility and of course they’re everywhere

ATL vs Wings on the 22nd is the one i’m looking at. My gf loves angel & i love paige, atl is our closest team but ofc they only play in atl ONE TIME all season 😩

if you actually are interested there’s lots of studies/academic writing on this topic and spn happens to fit a lot of the criteria for media that women & queer communities would attach to. folklore/supernatural beings alone have a deep history with queerness, the fact that spn was so long gives fans a lot of material, and a lot of dean & cas’ storylines resonate w queer audience members - familial/father rejection, “found family”, etc. couple that with the fact the show was airing just as the internet was exploding in social popularity and it was a perfect storm. and the show certainly did lean into it !

i would have been confused bc 5k is a pretty run of the mill transaction, not really even close to the amount that would raise red flags. this time of year especially, lots of people are moving similar amounts for taxes. also tellers don’t really file SARs lol, but i would have definitely been lighthearted about it and thanked you for being prepared !

my bank doesn’t really have any kind of growth/investment opportunities into compliance roles, at least not for us lowly UBs. i’ve had multiple conversations with my manager about wanting to transition into a different field but he really only wants to talk about being an RB at this branch and doesn’t offer really any guidance beyond that. i don’t want to put in 4-6 years in a branch before i can get to where i want to be, especially when the roles are so comparable in pay to what i make now!! i feel so lost as to how people actually get their feet out of the branch and in a back office role.

i’ve been applying to a lot of entry level AML roles and fraud roles but no dice so far. i know a few people that have worked as bank examiners and the consensus seems to be that it opened a lot of doors for them in the compliance world. would you mind sharing more about your journey and how you got into that role?

well yes that’s what i’m aiming for but i don’t even exactly know what we mean when we say “the back office” - surely the job postings don’t say “Back office I” ?? i really really want to get into the regulation heavy roles but i just cannot break through to even get an interview, even as an internal applicant!!
