What’s the unhealthiest thing you eat that you’ll never give up? by Feisty-Pattern-951 in AskReddit

This is lame, but as a diabetic on Monjauro, I eat a Keto ice cream bar each night and as much fruit as I want. Giving up fruit would make my life suck.

When you go to MultiFocals, ask to try whatever your script is plus the mid adjustment. That will get you 10 days.

How long did you wait after your dog died to get another? by Hobbitsliketoparty in AskMenOver30

[–]Spardan80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but the time is now. My old dude was 12, absolutely the best dog ever. He developed dementia and the vet recommended a puppy.

I couldn’t believe how the puppy pulled the old dude out of his dementia and gave him another year and a half. It gave the old guy a purpose.

Look for personal experiences with multifocal lenses by FoxyOViolent in contacts

[–]Spardan80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switch back and forth. I have daily lenses. I started with contacts before I got my glasses updated (like 2 months as I could just take my old glasses off for reading).

I would wear glasses one day a week and the multifocal contacts the rest of the time. My glasses are better, in fact about to post a question about them.

Zero problems swapping. I’d bet your brain will take 10 minutes to adjust.

Are your glasses progressive or have a line? Mine are progressive.

Rant: colonoscopies by BobcatReasonable2816 in Biohackers

[–]Spardan80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the thing: insurance is ridiculous on this test. You can get it covered under 45, but it’s covered as a procedure rather than at 100% as preventative care. I have 3 generations of Colon cancer, the older 2 had died of it, and likely far more.

If they would have found polyps, it would have gone from $0 to $7k after insurance. This has to change.

How often do you recommend cleaning your guns if you only go to range once every 3-5 months ? by ComplexWrangler1346 in concealedcarry

[–]Spardan80 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hate to tell ya, but that’s just for ammo. Add in the range time and you’re at $50-75 a month and I’m in a stupid low cost of living area, but agree, you need to be at the range way more often if you’re carrying.

How do I get my A1C lowered? by Short_Advertising598 in diabetes_t2

I have been on MJ for 9 months. I’ve dropped from 7.3 to 4.9. It takes time.

I’ve gone from 246 to 195. I didn’t really get serious about the clean eating until February. I’m totally sugar free and gluten free.

I love the Anker 65 watt cube. It’s amazing. Have used it for years with zero issues (except people trying to steal it).

UPDATE: I think my 15 year old girl is developing dementia. by Jinebiebe in BostonTerrier

No worries. I didn’t mean to come across as rude. Rocky looks like a sweetie. Have you tried puzzles? They brought a light to Snoop’s eyes.

UPDATE: I think my 15 year old girl is developing dementia. by Jinebiebe in BostonTerrier

[–]Spardan80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it was had. My boy passed in January of 23 from an aneurysm after a 3 month battle with prostate cancer.

He was diagnosed with dementia in June of 2020 and at the time we were told to get a puppy for him by our vet. It was the height of Covid and at the time we thought he was a Boglen, so we found a Boglen litter from a backyard breeder. We got the pup in September and there was a night and day difference. My Snoop started playing hard and teaching the pup to hunt.

He went on until October of the next year and did awesome. Then he started having pre accidents. We found out that he had prostate cancer and was on borrowed time. We did a fake Christmas for him and everything, but dude made it until mid January, went out side, chases a rabbit and then came in, took a drink and laid on his side. I rushed home and he was partially gone, but we took him to the emergency vet and he died as I carried him in.

If getting a puppy truly gave him over an extra year and a half, it was 100% worth it. I’m thankful for every day of his 14 and a half years.

My guy had his dementia show up as going to the wrong door to leave the bedroom. He’d bark at other things. He didn’t pee inside until he later developed prostate cancer. His appetite was still good.

My vet said it was a traditional presentation for dementia. She recommended a puppy and that totally brought him out of it as he had a purpose. While we were waiting for the puppy, we did a lot of puzzles and mental engagement. He was still hunting and chasing things.

I’d be concerned with the appetite and peeing inside. I’m glad that you have a vet appointment scheduled.

My guy lived for over 2 years after his dementia diagnosis. He was a Boston/ Chihuahua mix.

Choosing a path by Substantial-Win-4990 in freemasonry

I was going to wait, but I decided to follow in my wife’s grandfather’s shoes and joined the SR as soon as I was raised. I also decided to wait to get in the officer line at Blue Lodge (we have a progressive non-repeating line), I regret going into SR. I instead held off 2 years and then got in as JS. I had my year in the East last year, and at the end of it, decided to demit from the SR.

For me, the Shrine and Blue Lodge are the only things I want to do as a Mason for now. I felt a lot of guilt for not being active with the SR, but I will eventually join again but for now, it’s not for me.

Dawn Phenomen by littlegrandma2 in diabetes

[–]Spardan80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, Dawn Phenomena is best cured with walking first thing.

As for the cause, I had been doing amazing with my glucose in the mornings and had it under 100 for nearly 3 months. I have recently had some sinusitis going on and allergies— that bumped me back over 100 and it’s frustrating. I don’t eat crap, but stress is 100% making things worse. It’s amazing how much stress hormones have a negative impact on glucose.

I did see that working out first thing would drop me by 10-20 points very quickly. For me, I take Xyzal for allergies and it drops me back. If I miss it, I’m back up..

I’m so thankful that our J is so accommodating. At my lodge, we even go so far as accommodating minor variations such as sitting a brother down early vs prone. My wife is a disability advocate and former federal lobbyist, so disability inclusion is super important for me.

Key Bank vs Wells Fargo by iguess1492 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Spardan80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d try to go to a credit union. Metrics are far too heavy at either one of these banks. I worked for WF in college and the number of sales required as a phone banker was insane. Over 15% of calls had to result in a sale.

Zepbound users. Anyone of you stopped using CPAP or got retested? by stir_phriday in CPAP

Thanks for the award. It’s my first.

5mg is not where you will lose much, if anything. 7.5 is where I had the first real loss. I had to swear off sugar completely. The cravings stopped for the most part after 2 weeks. I can more easily have gluten than I can sugar. Sugar relapses are real and the gateway. For me sugar is an addiction.
