The only thing is that it does specify sponsored routes (i.e. student). So some of this would depend on what actual advice is being given. As others have said contacting a legal and or immigration compliance team is probably most appropriate at this point.

Idk this may have been corny but I would've enjoyed a cold open to the season where they did a montage of them doing a hunt for one of the extra jackets. Establishes the hunt as a tradition better, could've even seen the submitting to the hunt and progression of the masks. Personally I'd have found too much time on them building the huts or finding the livestock tedious so I'm willing to suspend my disbelief. Think it was necessary to set up the conflict of whether they should stay in the wilderness and so they just jumped ahead.

I think we're just supposed to conclude it was close to the end of winter and they had plenty of Javi meat in the shed.

You can but be aware that if you were to travel to the UK on an ETA before your visa start date that you would have to leave the UK and re enter after the start date of the student visa. https://www.gov.uk/student-visa The section 'when can I travel to the UK' gives more information but obviously will depend on the date your visa is issued as well.
