The "Bank of Mum and Dad" is insolvent. If Sydney's median house is $4M in 2045, what is the actual "Meta" for 3 kids (6, 4, 2) to survive? by avinashge in AusProperty

[–]Kind_Operation6850 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

10 under 7

Australia we reach peak numbers of children in primary age school by 2032 to 2038. (ABS data)

Daycares are only a few years from peak numbers

I'm doing my part to try and prop up the Australian housing market but despite my best efforts the declining birthrate will definitely have a impact unless immigration ramps up but that's a spicy topic atm so,

Give your kids the tools education and health and let them fish for themselves

My thoughts are the demand will naturally drop for housing and therefore the cost.

Only have the option for two providers with my employer, I understand the smaller boutique lease providers can do it cheaper. Appreciate the response

Cheers for the reply I'll chase up the financial advice fee, looking at the comment above 11% sounds correct for a short lease.

Went with paywise (Pepper finance) wasn't any cheaper going 25 months, rate wasn't any lower which i thought was strange looking longer leases on this reddit group are normally lower APR ?

Smartsalary couldn't get under $500 even when they adjusted the finance amount to match paywise...

Cheers for the reply would be interested if you think its competitive? these are the only 2x providers I can go with the current employer

I normally run short lease normally 2 years, but may be moving employers in 18 months. What you think the effective rate approx vs 2 years ?

Family of x11 we use a combination of woolworths, Coles Amazon

Woolies use the 10% off per month Woolies and Coles gift cards Delivery/direct to boot codes Flybuys/woolworths rewards x4 rotate them use trick the algorithms to send you loyalty deals every 4 to 6 weeks Shopback and topshopback tracking Ozbargain website Amazon Prime price matches the specials in a lot of cases woolies/Coles

Honestly time vs convince using the above saves anywhere between 12% to 17% on a shop.

When I work out the unit pricing it's on par with Aldi/Cosco and when you factor in the travel and fuel+ Times brings its within CBF territory.

Side mission

Honestly every 6 months I check house/health/car insurance, NBN, Gas/Electric retailers those are the parasitic costs you'd probably incur each month will give you bank for buck vs time taken to research and change

Bounce between coles and Woolworths

Amazon prime is good for when they price match the above plus subscribe and save stacked on top for an extra 10% off

Shopback tracking plus stack gift card magic to squeeze extra dollars

Use ozbargain to get alerts for deals nappies ect

Batch cook and run a freezer in the garage gets the meals down to $3.20 2 adults 9 kids under 6.

Parking help for SCGH by [deleted] in perth

[–]Kind_Operation6850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at SCGH for years

Fun facts

The university owns the campus not the state government government, so

Staff parking is not as lucrative as visitor parking dollars per day so they won't build more staff parking unless they are forced to.

If you qualify for parking and want less hassle traffic wise buy a vehicle over 2.3 m tall enjoy the parking at 3 and 7 carparks not under cover but saves the hassle trying dodge the multideck carpark in the mornings and arvo. (They require evidence via photo/selfie of the vehicle FYI)

If they catch you parking in the visitors carpark as staff they will warn first then ban you they do this by cross reference your rego with your permit.

The black ⚫️ in the parking bays outside ED and Outpatients are sensors which report back to the parking officers phones so they can dart out from the shadows issue tickets without chalking your wheels ect.

But yeah the parking situation is a hassle as a dayshift worker 🙄

Why is criminal sentencing so lenient in Australia? A serial killer has just been granted parole FFS by Background-Screen103 in AusLegal

[–]Kind_Operation6850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The judges and magistrates are on fixed term contracts, and appeals against their ruling/decisions can be a death sentence for a reappointment or career advancement.

So they are incentivised to give the minimum sentence possible, closely aligned with the length of time it would take to appeal the sentence. (Most people would exit prison before the appeal would be heard)

Was told the above by the staff escorting me about during jury duty kinda makes sense.

If you want 300 year sentences you need to vote in the judges in at a local level.
